Title: Winds Of Change
Description: The New and Improved Metagame

alienx200 - June 14, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
As some of you might know due to new changes to the rules on battle positions have changed the metagame. Now Book of Moon and Enemy Controller are a lot less powerful and Tsukuyomi has become deadly because of this Chaos Morph has once again become one of the most powerful decks again. Along with this Zombies and Chaos have also merged making a deadly combination (although alone Zombie is nearly just as powerful). These two decks form the current metagame. Also a new deck being netdecked everywhere is the Ben Kei deck which is one of the most powerful one-turn kill decks since MAgical Scientist/ Catpult turtle decks. These 3 decks are probably going to be the main decks at Nationals and for most of the year. However I hate going with the pack so I am hoping that you guys can help me come up with a deck that has an anwser to these decks yet remains distinct. The best I can come up with is Beastdown. I will include an example of these 3 decks. When responding keep in mind that Burn does poorly against all three decks, especially Ben Kei.

what are you talking about "metagame" and changes in rules to battle positions? what is all this?

The Dragon Master - June 14, 2005 05:32 AM (GMT)
Wow, I'm really out of things. Thanks for this information and some deck views. I should go into town sometime a watch a tourney sometime. Just to see how the game has changed from a year ago

the term metagame itself is abstract, but for this case lets just say its the current enviroment for playing yugioh. part of the current metagame is the rampant abuse of cards like scapegoat and magicain of faith. metagame is the way others play in
your gaming community. This may seem rather odd if you don't know what it is but here is an easier example. If all your friends like to play fast speed decks your metagame shall be different from someone who's gaming group plays slow, high firepower decks. However due to the massive amount of yugioh web communites the local metagames have nearly merged with the nation-wide metagame at big events such as Regionals and SJC's. Did you know that they are even posting the top 8 decklists on the Internet from each regional event. This causes so much copying that orginality in the game has even less of a chance. That is basically why i posted my article, to find a deck capable of taking out the current meatgame.
