Title: Here's A Real Technical Question
Flaming_dragon_8468 - February 13, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
Okay lets say my opponent attacks me with a monster... then I activate Magic Cylinder.... and my opponent chains that with Ring of Destruction... Does my Magic Cylinder still go through or does it's effect "disappear?"

well, I'll answer your question first. Though I'm trying to figure out why your opponent would <B>TRY</B> to chain w/ RoD
<hr>
If for some odd reason that were to happen, here is what would happen:<br>
<li>(1)- Your opponent attacks you<br>
<li>(2)- You activate Magical Cylinders<br>
<li><B><FONT SIZE="2">(3)- The effect of Magical Cylinders would STILL BE put into effect</FONT></B><br>
(<I>Now, IF your opponent DOES chain his RoD to [any] monster then:</I>)<br>
<li>Now, your opponent chains RoD onto a monster, then RoD's effect would now be activated.
<hr>
here is an example:<br>
<p align="left"><U>Your Field</u></P><p align="right"><U>Opponent's Field</U></P><br>
<p align="left">Monster: Celtic Guardian</P><p align="right">Monster: Shadow Stalker</P><br>
<p align="left">Spell/trap: (FD) Magical Cylinders</P><p align="right">Spell/trap: (FD) Ring of Destruction</P><br>
<I>Your opponent attacks your monster and you activate MC. He loses 2000 (shadow Stalker). But your opponent activates RoD onto your Monster. you both lose 1400 (celtic Guardian).
<hr>
<hr>
Does that make sense? Both MC's and RoD effects would be activated, just yours would be in effect <B>1st</B>

reason for this to happen? chain ROD with Barrel Behind the Door... no damage to themselves...
Thanx a lot for your help, thats what i said would happen but he argued with me

well, I keep forgetting about BBtD...
still, your card's effect would work first, and then his...

Let me clear this up here, you're using 'Magic Cylinder', and your opponent is chaining during the Damage Step and using 'Ring of Destruction'? The only thing I have to say is that situation is impossible, you can only counter a Trap Card during the Battle Phase with a Counter Trap card.

Not the damage step... whenever he announces the attack.... and yes you can activate quick-play spells or traps during the damage step... But only if they modify the attack or defense of a monster and only before damage calculation

CVG- He isn't COUNTERING....he is CHAINING.
It works
