Looks almost identical...and the weapons are exactly the same. I bet you this game doesn't last very long (considering TO is almost dead)

gr4v3 - July 27, 2005 06:06 AM (GMT)
most first person shooters dont last long now anyways they go a few months

most people are into rpg's an mmo's cause they last longer and take time

thats just whats popular you have to face it

hell there are even those first person shooter mmo's like fluffy has gotten so fond of (neocron) and a soon to be (fallen earth) which many people intend to play even from this clan :)

I dunno, with games like BF2, CS:S and the splinter cell game, I'd say they last more than a few months. It's just that more people play the MMORPGay games

RPGs are mad gay. "Here, why don't you do this 5148679 hour quest for me and walk all over every city for me for NO REASON!"
Screw that

gr4v3 - July 28, 2005 08:09 PM (GMT)
thats why your simple mind has to play a game like bf2 dont hate stuff you cant comprehend

AIDS - July 29, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
Wow Chad, you're a faggot. Considering I was going to school for Aerospace engineering, I'm pretty sure I can comprehend the stupid games. It's the walking around doing nothing for countless hours being fun that I can't comprehend. Nothing happens. You walk from point to point, and only do something when you get there that I can't comprhend. And spending $10+ a month to do it. Waste of money. I really don't understand why WOW is so popular. It's really nothing special

gr4v3 - July 29, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
wow is fucking stupid its a fake game the shit looks like its made for kids to play, and i never pay to play anything only games ill pay for ever are neocron and fallen earth, plus not all rpg's are like what u describe those are only the fucking stupid ones, not all of em are like that but you cant categorize the whole rpg game type because you've seen a few bad games

actually, the rpg element of gaming is spreading all over the place. The staple of an rpg is the growth and betterment of a character. That element is what makes an rpg an rpg, yet ironically, is sprouting up all over the place. The growth of a character helps create more of an attachment by a player to a game and thus is useful in any game which it can be added to. The ironic part of this argument is that the gaining of points towards unlocking weapons and the earning of various badges, ribbons and medals (bf2 for anyone who doesn't know) is in itself the growth and benefit of a character(account) and therefore it can be ascertained that bf2 does indeed include rpg elements. I say this argument should stop because if you want to bash game genres, you might as well step back a few gaming generations because the known genres are no more, the lines have been blurred to near extinction and many new games incorporate multiple genres into one game. The old classification of games is dying, at least among the high-profile games because to sell games, you have to appeal to as many consumer groups as possible which, for arguments sake, means incorporating elements from as many genres as possible.

AIDS - July 29, 2005 04:31 PM (GMT)
If you want to use that route, than you might as well say ALL games are RPGs, becuase in EVERY game you play you are, in fact, playing a specific ROLE

Herpes - July 29, 2005 05:03 PM (GMT)
well thats the broadest view. The view I was going with was one in which the playable character(s) grow by gaining things (items/skills) at a pace affected by amount of gameplay.

better way of saying it is games in which characters gain experience towards unlocking things in game (such as items or skills). Typical rpg's call it experience. BF2 has global points. Action games with rpg elements often forego exp and base skill increase on money gained (see Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry).
