Title: Favorite Musicals
Description: Have you seen a musical?

Aurora - July 9, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
I've started this thread so any who LOVES  musicals or has simply seen one can come and discuss them. I, for one, grew up on musicals. My mom made me watch them all the time. I just love them! My absolute favorite musical is Oklahoma. I have the soundtrack and know all the songs by heart. O what a beautiful morning, o what a beautiful day! I've got a beautiful feeling everything's goin my way! Anyone else heard of it?

Just last year I performed in my school's all-school musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I had the BEST time of my life during that production. All the late nite practices and the 12-hour dance rehearsals were even a BLAST. I even got to know some of my best friends during this time.

It's even become a dream of mine to one day be in a Broadway musical. I haven't even been able to see a performance live but I guess that's also a dream of mine.

Does anyone else watch musicals or has seen one?

Kitty - July 9, 2005 10:42 AM (GMT)
My fave musical has to be Annie. It's soooooo cute! :D

Do you count Chicago as one?

Aurora - July 10, 2005 03:37 AM (GMT)
Definitely! As long as there's singing and dancing, it counts as a musical! Although I've never seen Chicago, I've heard it's awesome and I sooo want to see it!

Annie is also one of my favorites! It is an awesome musical.

Kitty - July 10, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)

Narnia is a musical? Huh, intresting, oo Spamalot would be pretty awesome too...oo and Hairspray!

Aurora - July 30, 2005 02:52 PM (GMT)
Spamalot looks really funny! I saw them perform on T.V. at the Tony Awards. I love the original movie so I'm sure I'd love Spamalot.

My new obsession is Wicked. I have the soundtrack and I have it memorized. I am a huge fan of the Wizard of Oz and I think Wicked looks so cool! I am not going to rest until I see it and I am going to annoy my parents to death until they let me go! Has anyone seen it?

Lianslo - August 12, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
I can't believe I havn't discovered this thread until now. I blame it on my family's crazy random trips.

Anyways, I LOVE musicals with all my heart. I think, that if I could do anything in the world, for the rest of my life, I would be a Broadway star. But...like thats ever gunna happen. ;)

As for my fave musicals. As Ashely said, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is basically amazing when you had the cast we did! It seriously was the best time of my life, I wish I could do it all over again. Although the endless hours of acting and dancing ran us all ragged, it was still amazing.

I have seen both "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Les Miserables" performed live, and professionally...and both were AMAZING. All I can say is if you have the chance to see a real broadway musical, take it! Cuz you really can't miss.

But, right now, the only musical I can think about is Wicked! :D November 23 will possibly be one of the best days of my life, because I will be seeing Wicked live, and in person, in Chicago! I seriously cannot wait. Ashely and I are bursting at the seams.

Kitty - August 12, 2005 08:42 PM (GMT)

Aurora - August 18, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)

Moulin Rouge is my absolute favorite movie ever!!!! I love it with all my heart! And to top it all off, it's a musical! YAY!!! Come What May gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!

Me too. I start crying at the end every time. It's quite funny to watch me.

Lianslo - August 18, 2005 04:52 PM (GMT)
Sometimes I just turn it off after they sing "Come What May" for the last time, and pretend that she doesn't die, and that they live happily ever after. ;)

Kitty - August 18, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
I should try that. lol

I cry at too many movies. I cried at Annie where she finds her 'parents' and has to leave daddy Warbucks.

angelsflame265 - August 18, 2005 05:44 PM (GMT)

Lianslo - August 28, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
The real question here is, how can you not love musicals? :) Sometimes, I wish all of life were a musical. That way you could just burst into random song and dance whenever you wanted....and somehow, everybody would know all the right words and all the right moves. ;)

Kitty - October 22, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)

Well, I have a new musical obsession, surprise surprise ;) . But first, let me do a little happy dance while I celebrate. The day that I go see Wicked is only 6 days away! Hooray! It is seriously going to be the best day of my life so far!

And now, my new musical obsession is also going to be out in theaters soon...RENT! I recently got the soundtrack and I love it! It is a little bit on the scandalous side, but the music is amazing! I have so many favorites! haha o well.

So, Aurora and I have officially seen Wicked now...and...I think I can speak for both of us when I say it was beyond amazing. There aren't even words to describe the experience. The singing, the dancing, the acting...all awesome! Ana, the girl who played Elphaba, had this tremendous voice, and Defy Gravity was something I'll never forget. If you ever have the chance to see Wicked, take it...even if your ticket costs $91, you won't regret it!
