Logan Devonwood - July 15, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
It was the perfect night to try out his new potion. Lightning bolts flew through the sky and crackled down at the ground below. There was thunder, but no rain. As Logan began getting ready for the test run, he admired the lightning from the window on his side of the room. He quickly pulled on his Ravenclaw hoodie and then grabbed a few vials of the potion, which he slipped into the big pocket in front.

If the potion was brewed perfectly, the user would be able to absorb bolts of lightning, and bend them back into the air or anywhere of their choosing. The effect would only be temporary, and they'd only be able to shoot back what they absorbed. It was a very complicated potion, he had been at it for months. Some of the ingriedients were rare, and others had to be heated or cooled just exactly. After a few trials, Logan was positive that he had gotten it this time. He tested with a few sparks from his wand.

Time for the big test He decided as he stealthily walked through the castle. He chose to go through the side entrance to the grounds. Logan stood in the overhang of the door for a few moments, just so he could pull out one of his vials. Before he uncapped it, he wished someone else could have experienced it with him. Wonder where Mel is? he asked himself, starting to open the side entrance door.

Melie was late, as usual. This was nothing new really, she was dashing around Gryffindor Tower trying to find her sneaker, and after 20 minutes of looking she located it underneath one of the couches in the common room. She had heard about Logan's latest potion and wanted to be there to try it out with him, even thought it made her incredibly nervous. As calmly as she could, Melie made her way to the meeting spot. As she approached she saw Logan there, just opening the door to go outside.
"Logan! Wait for me!" Melie exclaimed running the last few yards and stopped next to her friend. "I can't believe you were gonna go without me!" She said putting a mock look of hurt on her face.

He gave Mel a sheepish grin. "Don't worry I was gonna go and wait outside of Gryffindor." He laughed. "I just wasn't as confident about this potion," Logan held out the vials, "but I seemed to absorb wand sparks, that were like miniature bolts of lighthing. So I guess there's no other way to try it out." He slid two vials of potion out of his hand, and put the other two away in his pocket. He uncorked them both and handed one to Mel.

Very excited, a deviant smirk drew across his face. He lifted the vial up, as if toasting Mel. "Alright love, here's to bending electricity! On the count of three, we'll down them. One....two....." Logan looked at the vial, and hoped that all the work that went into the small amount of liquid would pay off, "three!" And with that, the vial went up to Logan's lips and he began to drink down the potion.

Melie took one of the vials that Logan had in his hand and unstoppered it. When he counted down to 1 she lifted it back and drank it all in one sip. After a moment she wiped her mouth and looked at him.
"Are we supposed to feel different? Because I don't feel different." Melie looked a little skeptically at Logan, if this potion didn't work and they went out in the storm and were hit by lightning she was going to kill him. She did not need to end up in the infirmary again, with Liam freaking out. "So you can go outside first there potion master," Melie said with a slightly nervous laugh.

"Gee thanks," He smirked. It was probably for the better. He wouldn't send out a friend to try a potion he himself hadn't yet tested out. After taking a breath, Logan took a few steps out into the middle of the grounds. He heard the lightning crackling through the sky. It was soon bound to hit the ground. He waited in the middle of the field, holding his arms out just so he could cover a bit more ground.

After a few minutes of waiting, Logan looked up, and saw a bolt come crashing straight down. He leapt quickly, and caught it on the top of his right hand. The current ran through him. He felt a vibration running through his arm, and his legs felt a bit wobbly. "Woah," he muttered, and began to slowly straighten himself up, once the initial effects began to wear off.

Logan looked around, feeling a bit dizzy, but pretty good otherwise. He gave Mel a thumbs up, and then noticed a pulsing feeling in his right arm. Glancing at it, he turned, and pointed it at a boulder some feet a way. Not exactly sure how to rid himself of the lightning, he just willed himself to emit the electricity, and the lightning bolt flew straight out of him, and created an indentation in the very top of the rock.

He grinned broadly, his potion worked!

Melie watched in fascination as Logan was able to....trap the lightning, and then sent it flying.
"Oh my god! That is so cool!" She yelled and ran out to him. She looked up at the sky, not quite sure she was ready to try it herself though. She wasn't a chicken or anything, but this was something that did scare her slightly. "Do it again so I can see how you do it, I don't need to get killed by this, my life is fairly good for me at the moment." Melie said with a laugh as she looked up at Logan.

Logan shook his head, but smiled. He stood again, arms extended out to his sides, as he waited for the lightning to strike again. With a crackle, he felt the lightning hit the base of his neck. The same feeling of vibrations filled him, and he could feel his legs beginning to shake. The lightning spread equally through out both of his arms. They both began to grow warm. An electric sensation ran down his spine.

Since it was his neck that was hit, he waited an additional minute before looking back up. There was a tingling sensation running around like a collar, but aside from that he was alright. He looked at both his arms. The pulsing feelings were present in both, but now there was even a faint glow. Grinning, Logan threw his arms up over his head, and sent the lightning flying out in bolts. They crackled brightly, and then faded.

"Enough proof Mel?" He laughed. "Even in the base of the neck I'm fine!"
