Title: Drowning Erased memories
Description: *Moody Logan* Approach with caution
Logan Devonwood - June 30, 2008 03:35 AM (GMT)
The day was ending already, Logan thought about that as he lazily sipped from his firewhiskey bottle and watched the sun begin to set. He had hoped that the sight mixed with drowning his sorrows might liven the mood, but to his own dismay, it didn't change a thing. It was funny, he had gone from completely enraged to apathetic and listless. Setting the bottle down for a moment he leaned his head back, and closed his eyes.
Why would she ever do that? How can she just, just move on like nothing ever freaking happened?! Logan balled his fists as he recalled the earlier letter his mother sent home. She was not only selling their house -the house his father had built- and the only home Logan had known apart from Ravenclaw tower, but she was beginning to give out and sell his father's possessions.
She wrote something along the lines of needing to leave the past where it belonged. "Your father would want us to move on. Keep living life." Was supposed to give comfort to Logan? Apparently,If this so-called "comfort" meant honoring your late father's wishies meant giving away every single memento to the point where it feels like something was tugging on your very heartstrings....well then Logan was comforted.
Opening his eyes, his feelings of rage began to re-surface. He drew up his knees, and hunched over slightly, willing all of the earlier memories to disappear.

The Grim liked the lake. Black labs were pretty good swimmers after all so most of his time as a dog was spent there. The smell of firewhiskey pushed the dogs head above water again and in search for the holder he saw Logan. Of coarse, he was somewhat far and seeing in black and white, but the smell mixed with the firewhiskey told him that he was right. Or that someone was stealing Logan's clothes... The dog padded out of the water, shaking off the remaining water onto Logan once he knew it was him.
Logan Devonwood - June 30, 2008 04:08 AM (GMT)
Try as he might, the pain could not be willed away. He wanted another nip of firewhiskey, but he couldn't be bothered to move on his own accord. It was pathetic, Logan Devonwood had basically shut himself down. Becoming slightly jittery for one instant when he felt droplets of water, Logan jerked his head up with what little energy he had and saw a black dog. He just groaned and let his head fall back down. At the moment he couldn't be bothered to find out if it was truly a dog or not. Logan had suspicions that the dog was in fact an animagus, but who? Does it matter?
5@v3 - June 30, 2008 04:19 AM (GMT)
The Grim sighed as he noted how pathetic Logan looked at the moment. He saw him eying the firewhickey that had gone just out of reach and forced himself into human form to grab it for the guy. "Hey, you don't look so hot..." He said, passing the bottle over. "Whoa, I have a feeling I'll be drawn in by this stuff before to long so you better hide the bottle..." He joked, not expecting it to crack a smile. "You alright?"
CassieWink - June 30, 2008 11:45 AM (GMT)
A girl knows when her best friend is upset. Its kind of a sixth sense that makes youy feel the same way. SO when Cassie started feeling depressed for no apparent reason she knew somethig was up. Traveling down to the lake she saw Chase there with Logan and almost turned around. But she travled on plopping herself on Logans other side. "Hey Lo..." she whispered smiling weakly up at him. "I'm sorry hun" she said hugging him. She knew ut had to do with his mother and father and knew it was hard for him.
Emma Potter - June 30, 2008 12:04 PM (GMT)
The Ravenclaw House had been dead for the last several days, especially for Emma. She rarely saw her roomate and when she did it was either late at night or in the morning before he dissapeared.
This morning was like all the others, Logan was gone early and Emma was doing her own things, worrying about her own troubles. She was out running and she was on her last mile of her 6 mile run. She ran past the lake when she saw Logan and firewhiskey with Chase and Cassie around him.
Debating on what she should do, she looked around and finally turned and sprinted over to them, skidding down into a sitting position by Chase and Logan. "Logan..firewhiskey?" she slightly whined, eying the firewhiskey dissaprovingly.
ladeeknight - June 30, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
Scarlett had heard a couple of first years in Madam Padfoots gossiping about an upper classman getting drunk by the lake. Apparently he was quite hot and by the rest of their gossip Scarlett deduced that the drinker must be Logan. Her shift was ending very soon so she packed a basket full of brisket, cheese burritos, a carrot cake, a thermos of coffee and another bottle of firewhiskey and headed for the lake. She arrived to find Cassie and Chase already tending to the drowning man. Emma jogged up just as Scarlett was arriving. “You are correct Emma that does appear to be firewhiskey. I have brought another bottle so that we can join you, or we can eat, or you can sober up. Just tell me which side of the mushroom you’d like to take a bite of.” Scarlett’s voice was smooth and comforting without a trace of judgement as she offered her wares and referenced Allice and Wonderland.
Logan Devonwood - June 30, 2008 02:47 PM (GMT)
Logan groaned. He was completely defeated. He heard Chase attempting to get him to laugh, and then Cassie plopping herself down next to him. Bad as he felt, he just couldn't straighten himself up. Then he heard Emma standing over him. Feelings of guilt began to rival the feelings of defeat. It was bad enough that he wasn't bothering to acknowledge Cassie or Chase, but ignoring Emma? Logan had slipped out of the room earlier than usual. Not bothering to go back. He also heard Scarlett approaching. He lifted his heavy head, and looked around to his four friends.
Hearing Cassie say sorry, he sighed. "No worries Cass, there is only one person who should be sorry. Not that she'd ever admit it."
Knowing full well that he couldn't stay depressed forever, he wasn't quite sure if it was the best idea to surround himself in company. After all, he was fairly toasted, and still bitter and upset. "Are you guys sure you truthfully wanna be around me? I mean, I haven't been this down since my d-" He stopped. "Well, you get the idea."
ladeeknight - June 30, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
Scarlett decided that since Logan’s next statement sounded a bit self conscious that he would like company in his drunk tank. She pointed at a flat rock with her wand and four shot glasses appeared on it each with a little clink all it’s own. Scarlett poured four shots out of the fresh bottle one for each person here minus Emma. She figured on the off chance that Emma decided to have some herself Logan could always drink from the bottle he clutched. Scarlett screwed the cap back on her bottle and picked up a shot glass holding it aloft. “To the dumps our friend is currently in. Let us get drunk quickly so we can help him explore ‘em all together.” Scarlett waited for the others to lift there glasses in salute and downed her fire whiskey. “Why don’t you tell what’s got you so down will we join you Logan?”
Logan Devonwood - June 30, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)
Logan sighed, and reluctantly put down the bottle he had been gripping so tightly. He picked up the shot glass, not being one that was able to turn down such an offering. Once everyone had their glass lifted, he downed the shot and carefully placed it down, not wanting to break the glass. Sighing he waited a few moments before taking Scarlett up on her offer to talk about the problem.
Drawing his knees up again he let out a breath and braced himself. "I just don't get it. I mean, I know it's been a few years, but it's like my mum is just trying to erase my father's history. And it's not even just James I'm worked up about. She's moving. Out of the house dad built. On her own suggestion." He quipped bitterly. Evidently the only thing that he and James were on the same page about was staying put was the best option.
"And as if that wasn't bad enough, she's started selling dad's possessions. Something she never even ASKED ME about." he balled his fists again, but then released them. "Apparently we're supposed to be honoring my father by erasing any sign that he was ever here. And I'm supposed to just be 'okay' with all of this." He felt himself getting even more upset. His lip quivvered slightly. "How does she think I'm supposed to just be 'okay'? I'm the one who shares his blood. He IS a part of me."
ladeeknight - June 30, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
Scarlett nodded as Logan unburdened himself. It did sound a bit odd to her, but she thought she might see what his mother was trying to do. “Not to sound as if I am sidin’ with the enemy here, but maybe it’s hard for your mama to make a new life while she feels like she still livin’ in her old one. That explains the house at least. I am not so sure about your daddy’s things though. I mean it seems like she could box that stuff up for you to have when you’re grown. Do you think your mama might need the money for somethin’?”
Logan Devonwood - June 30, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
Dad if you can hear me, I'm so sorry. I don't know what to do about this, it's out of my hands now. He bit his lip and shook his head. "Not as far as I know. Both her and the step-faker have jobs. Step-faker actually brings in a lot of money. Hence buying the new house." Logan growled the last bit. Craftsmenship meant squat to her now.
"I did want some of dad's belongings. If nothing just to have something to remember him by. Know that I do still have some part of him with me." He sighed. It just killed him that he wasn't even asked before she began selling. Then again, the last few times at home weren't exactly that great. He was still just tolerating James which was finally getting annoying to his mother. She believed that he was just acting childish. She knew he really missed his father, but enough was enough. His mother was going slightly crazy herself. Logan looked exactly like him.
He dragged himself out of his thoughts for a moment. "I don't know anymore. I mean, I do have a right to be angry right?"
ladeeknight - June 30, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
“I might not be the right person to answer that question, bein’ generally short tempered myself, but I’d be mad as heck!” Scarlett fixed some more drinks. Being mad usually mad her thirsty. “What are gonna do about this Logan?” Scarlett asked before downing her drink. She had a few ideas swirling around in her head, but she wanted to hear Logan’s plans before she voiced any of her own thoughts on the subject.
5@v3 - June 30, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
The relatively quiet Chase popped out a few words when Scarlett said she wasn't one to answer that question. "I depends..." He said with almost a sigh. "You do have to keep in mind that at least there was time in between. I mean, when my mum died my dad got rid of everything that night..." He shrugged and watched the water slightly. "Maybe it just hurts to much to be around it all so constantly..."
CassieWink - June 30, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
Cassie saw the drinks and reached into her bag. Most of her days now it was a full stacked bar. She pulled out her own bottle of firewhiskey. Raising it slightly she squeezed her eyes shut and drank it. It re-filled moments later. "Thank god' she murmered continuing to drink and listening to all the conversation. She knew Logans problem and sympathized with him. With a large chuyg she stood up suddenly, slightly woozy. "Well then I reckon we go get them before she takes all of them" she said chugging the rest and watching as the bottle refilled up. Oh how she loved her drinking buddy.
Emma Potter - July 1, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
Emma looked down at the shot glass, debating what she should do and for once she just grabbed it and drank it, not caring at all what would happen. She closed her eyes tight, hating the taste, before she looked over at Logan and drowned the flavor with water from her water bottle.
"Logan, you still have your memories and yes items can bring memories back, but sometimes you dont need them, sometimes..they can bring back bad memories." she said, looking down at the shot glass, disgusted with herself and her own memories that had come back with it.
Logan Devonwood - July 1, 2008 03:10 AM (GMT)
Logan accepted the drink from Scarlett and began sipping on it. He made a mental note to repay her later. He whole-heartedly agreed with Cassie. Why didn't he just go racing home and grab the stuff before his mother could get rid of it? Logan could grab his broom and be back by morning. Before agreeing to that, he listened to both Emma and Chase.
They did bring up the valid points about lost loved ones items causing pain to other parties. He knew a bit about Emma's parents, and he sympathized with what she said. And although he didn't know much about Chase's family, he was still able empathize. It was true that he never thought about how his father's death had tolled on his mother. She had lost the man that she had fallen in love with. They had been married 14 years before his death. For the moment though, that still wouldn't change the fact that he was still upset about the entire situation, even still, he could try and be reasonable. "I suppose, I mean, I'm still mad at Mum. Why would she wait until I was back here to tell me all this?" He paused to sip on his drink. Because you would've become a git and refuse to give any nod of approval. It was true.
He heaved and leaned his head back. "I'm starting to think...Could this be- or, is it a sign? Like, my father saying I should be moving on?" Not in a way that he'd shut down his memory bank or try to erase his existence.
ladeeknight - July 1, 2008 03:41 AM (GMT)
"I was gonna suggest we buy Logan's dad's stuff, but i like Cassie's idea too. Look Logan I burned nearly everything my parents owned the night they died, but everything that we managed to save is in a special trunk for my brother and I to have. These things are important links to our past. You should have as much of your father as you can get. And I will help you get it in whatever way I can." After making this declaration Scarlett took another shot and slammed her glass against the rock for emphasis. She was very lucky it didn't break.
Logan Devonwood - July 1, 2008 04:02 AM (GMT)
Logan progressively began to take longer sips of his drink until he inevitably downed it. He placed the glass a little more roughly on the rock than he had originally intended to. He had sobered up slightly before, but now he was starting to get drunk. Tipping the glass upside-down, he decided to hold off for the time being. He needed to think clearly.
Feeling his adrenaline begin to pump as the suggestion started to slowly become a window of oppurtunity, the gears in his mind began to click. Slower than usual, but they were working around alcohol. "So then, we get the stuff from her?" Logan clarified, lips starting to form a grin as he glanced at Scarlett. Her enthusiasm was beginning to encourage him. He looked at the other three.
He was still trying to sort out the mixed messages that he was being faced with.
CassieWink - July 1, 2008 12:03 PM (GMT)
Cassie continued to drink quietly listening to everyone till the time where she was pretty tipsy. And this wouldnt even be the half of what she would drink later. Placing her drink down she stood up, slightly awkwardly. "Well then lets go Logan. Come on. Lets go get it. No more taking it." she said her eyes gleaming brightly. She swayed for a moment then grinned brightly. She offfered a hand down to Logan in between the giggles that she let out, nonpurposly of course.
Emma Potter - July 1, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
Emma poured herself another drink and quickly drank it down, this time managing to not wince at the taste. "Alright then, I guess we're going." she said, getting up and deciding to follow her almost drunk friends, who might not even know where to go but it was the fact that they were "going" that made them believe.
"How are we going to get there? Brooms?" she asked, trying to think through this logically.
ladeeknight - July 1, 2008 03:11 PM (GMT)
“I say brooms!” Scarlett all of the sudden had an urge to be flying. The firewhiskey was making her hot and she wanted to feel the wind in her hair. But she then she recovered some since. “Wait Logan, how far away is your house? Is this gonna be a campin’ trip? It’s all right if it is, we just need to know.” Actually the idea of a little cross country trip with her friends seemed very appealing to Scarlett, though she was too drunk to remember she could be sleeping on the ground.
Logan Devonwood - July 2, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
Logan happily grabbed a hold to Cassie's hands and stood up. He agreed to the idea of brooms. There's no telling of what could happen to the possessions should they try a portkey. He stopped to think about how long the trip would take. "Well, If I left right now, just grabbed the stuff and left, I'd be back by early morning. So, I'd say it is a couple of hours, and seeing how we've all hit the bottle pretty hard," a drunk giggle escaped his lips, "It would probably be smart to camp out tonight." He eyed the group. "Well, if we're gonna do this thing, I'd say we start getting ready now. Everyone in?" Logan's signature devious grin crawled across his lips once more.
Emma Potter - July 3, 2008 04:39 PM (GMT)
"Woah what are we doin?" she asked trying to stay focused but beginning to feel the after-effects of her drink. "Are we leaving or camping?" she asked, while she accio'd her broom and duffel bag which had everything she needed in it. Holding both in her hands, she looked around at her friends, extremely confused because Logan was seriously drunk and was making no sense.
ladeeknight - July 3, 2008 05:24 PM (GMT)
Scarlett was also a little confused because at the beginning of Logan's speach it sounded like he was going alone, but toward the end he had included them all. "Emma I think he means we should sleep out here and then head out at first light. I could be wrong though." Scarlett looked over at Logan for the answer. "One thing I want to be clear about is the 'we' part. I want to help you get your inheritence."
CassieWink - July 3, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
Cassie shakily accioed her stuff and moments later her duffel and broom smacked her across the stomach. She landed on the ground giggling uncontrollably for a moment. Then standing up. "I...I am definately definately going. With my best logan" she said annunciating some words more than she should have. "And we're going to go get stufff and sleep and " and then she burst into giggles. She slapped his palm playfully but missed then attempted again and got it grinning brightly at Logan
Logan Devonwood - July 4, 2008 03:18 PM (GMT)
Laughing himself, Logan nodded. "Yup, you're all coming. And the time to say 'no' is gone! So let's get ready to go!" Pulling out his wand, he managed to focus on his broom, and a duffel bag. A toaster came flying out as well. But he left that on the ground. "Too bad Sil didn't give us more of that potion," he giggled talking to Cassie. The time they were both out of their minds Sil was able to get them to sober up. "Anyhow, I don't know how good of a condition we are in to fly. So, we'll stay out here a night before taking off in the morning. What do you guys think?" He adressed the group.
Emma Potter - July 4, 2008 05:48 PM (GMT)
Emma stretched slightly as Logan and everyone talked. Finally everything was cleared up, and it was decided that they were staying the night. Sitting down on the ground, she played with the grass slightly. She wasnt that drunk, just tired and trying to figure out what they needed. "So are we just going to stay out here?" she asked. It could be a long walk back to the school with everyone kind of drunk and out of it.
ladeeknight - July 7, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
“That’s the plan Emma,” Scarlett said. She tried to accio a tent and her broom, but all she got was pillows. “Dammit,” she exclaimed. Then she laughed. It had been kinda funny when all she could accio was pillows when that was all she needed. “I must be too drunk to do magic. That has never happened before, though I guess maybe I have never tried to do magic I had to concentrate on when I was drunk.” Scarlett was talking to herself more than anyone else. She was the type of drunk that had no internal monologue.
Emma Potter - July 8, 2008 12:10 PM (GMT)
Emma was able to succesfully accio her sleeping bag and pillows, which is what she was playing with right now to get it in the right position. Surprisingly, she was a quiet drunk, if there's such a thing, but she was able to remember her father as a loud drunk and in comparison she wasnt that so she figured that made herself a quiet drunk. "Good night." she said to everyone, putting her head down on the pillow and starring up at the sky, trying to fore herself to sleep.
Logan Devonwood - July 8, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
Amused by Scarlett's attempts at magic, Logan burst out laughing. "Oh man Scar, hang on." He pulled out his wand and summoned an extra sleeping bag for his friend. A thick pair wool socks came with the sleeping bag. "There you go." He slurred, laying down on his own. Rolling over, Logan heard Emma say good night. "You're calling it a night already Em?" He giggled
Emma Potter - July 8, 2008 11:37 PM (GMT)
"Yes." she said to Logan's question. "I am going to sleep right now." she said, but kept her eyes open, staring at the sky. "As soon as the sky stop spinning, I'm going to bed." she added, realizing she wouldnt be able to sleep in a while. "I need water." she said and turned to her side to grab her water bottle and took a sip before looking back up at the sky. "That did nothing." she added matter-of-factly.
ladeeknight - July 9, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
"Wool socks!" Scarlett exclaimed nearly yanking them out of Logan's hands. Heedless of her clothing Scarlett plopped down on the ground and kicked off the stacked sandals she was wearing and pulled on the socks. The must have been Logan's because they went well past her knees. She giggled as she wiggled her toes. Her mood was much lighter. "Well I brought enough pillows for everyone," she said as she spread out her sleeping bag near Emma. She picked up one of the pillows and it didn't look familiar at all. "Huh, I wonder if this is from the Hufflepuff dorm," Scarlett mused to herself, but outload.
Logan Devonwood - July 9, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
Logan looked very seriously at Emma. "Em, you know very well that the sky always spins. It will only stop when I say command it." He tried to continue looking at her with a straight face, but fell back again laughing on a pillow that might have not been his. He looked at it, and it was pink. Baffled, he sat up, but was grinning. "Those are amazing socks, Scar. Where'd you get them?" Logan asked, spreading out the blanket that he knew was definitely his.
ladeeknight - July 10, 2008 08:13 PM (GMT)
“I assumed since you gave them to me that they were yours, but you know at the moment I really don’t care whose they are or that they don’t match.” For she realized as she stared up at her toes the socks didn’t match. One was a chocolatey rainbow ranging in color from an off white chocolate to a deep dark mocha color. Scarlett’s stomach rumbled. “Do y’all think we could get the stuff for some s’mores. Ya know since we’re campin’ and all.”
Emma Potter - July 11, 2008 12:29 AM (GMT)
Emma nodded to Logan's comment of the sky spinning. Hearing Scar's comment about smores, Emma said, "I dont know if we should be around fire since most of us are either drunk or close enough to being drunk." she said with a shrug, but then went ahead and accio'd the ingredients for Smores.
Logan Devonwood - July 11, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
To be honest, Logan was beginning to think the socks were in fact his. But then again, he was a little to drunk to even figure out if the shoes he was wearing were his. "S'mores are a fantastic idea!" He grinned. Once Emma summoned the ingriedients, he walked a ways away from the blankets and sleeping bags, and accio'd some logs to begin a fire. He arranged them in a fashion where there fire would be well contained. "Scarlett, would you like to do the honors and light the fire?"
CassieWink - July 14, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
Cassie was so out of it she didnt really anything that was going on. Suddenly she felt a giant bag of marshmallows smack her in the face. "What the..." she said picking up the bag. Shrugging she opened her bag and finished her bottle. Reaching in she pulled out a long surfboard pillow and flopped down on it, "Dont worry...i can handle firewhevever" she said her words a little confused.
Logan Devonwood - July 17, 2008 02:36 PM (GMT)
Pointing his wand at the logs, Logan attempted numerous times to start up a fire. So far he had only managed to give the edges of the logs a bit of pink fuzz. Giggling, he eventually got his spells straight, and a few small flames sparked in the center of the logs. Eventually they spread out to form a nice full fire. He sat down, and crossed his leg, as he accio'd the marshmallows over to himself. Placing it on his knee, he set the bag beside him, listening to Cassie.
Smirking, he replied. "I believe the word you're looking for is whiskey, love." He laughed.
ladeeknight - July 27, 2008 05:13 AM (GMT)
Scarlett wasn't about to use her talent to light the fire. She had done that while drunk one other time and while no had gotten hurt she still got nauseated when she thought about how disgustingly lucky they had all been.
But she could still help light the fire if she could find her lighter. While she was digging for it Logan was haphazardly trying to light the fire. "Ah-ha!" Scarlett said triumphantly as she held up her lighter, only to see that Logan had managed to light the fire. Scarlett's face fell tragically.
