Leona walked down to the lake early one morning, having realized that she forgot her towel from yesterday's excursion. She had to punch the ever loving day lights out of some students who were trying to harm Squiddy, the friendly neighborhood lake monster. She didn't know how her best friends was going to respond to the attempted 'p'wnage,' but it wasn't going to be good. When Leo got close enough to the lake, she saw lots of little bubbles surfacing, and it made her curious. Leona swam out to investigate. It was a little too dark to see what was going on so she lit up her wand. She was amazed to discover hundreds of little squids struggling to swim. They also seemed to be having a hard time staying submerged. Leo was curious as to why that was. Suddenly she felt a sticky tentacle grab her ankle and pull her down. Leo quickly did the bubble head charm and looked at Squiddy. "Easy there, Squiddy, it's just me....Erm....are those yours?" She asked curiously pointing upward.

Crys was on her usual early morning lake excursion. She had to check her friend Squiddy was alright. She had no real worries about him, but really she loved seeing Squiddy. She saw Leona go in then get pulled down. Crys didn't get why, so she dove into the water to see what was up with her friends.
Instantly she became aware of the problem. She did a quick bubblehead charm then started signing to Squiddy. However the leviathan was not responding.
"Uhm, Leo?"

Leona pointed upwards at the shimmering tentacle blobs that floated near the surface. "Either Squiddy's a girl, or he found him self a girlfriend....Or he's capable of much more than I thought he was," Leo said loudly. She looked over at Squiddy and waited for some sort of sign, figuring that squiddy would have gotten her back by now.

"That's not Squiddy. Er...not OUR Squiddy anyway, and yeah, definitely a Mama squid...wow..." Crys reaches down for her wand and looks around. "But I don't see our Squiddy...is she squeezing you or just holding you?"

"Um, I think just holding me, though it's a might tight. I'm guessing she doesn't want us interfering with baby squiddies," She explained. At that point the female squid let her go and she swam over to Crys. "So where's our Squiddy then?" She asked out loud wondering if it was hiding somewhere.

"Well maybe squid males eat the baby squids, so she's keeping him away from the young'ins..." Crys suggests, shrugging a little. "I don't know squid biology or anything...but the babies are cute..." She reaches out and pets one then hugs it.

Leona laughed as she watched Crys hug a baby squiddy. Leo was entranced by them, so she began playing with them swimming in circles slowly, so as to not scare the babies too much. "I'm gonna claim this one," Leo says hugging it. "I'm gonna name him Squishy, and he's gonna be my squishy," Leo said with a bright smile.

"Well we don't know if they're gonna stay, though. If there' another squiddy then she must've come from somewhere and...maybe she's gonna take the little ones with her." Crys offers, swinging her baby squiddy around a little in a circle.

Leo let out an exaggerated sniff when she mentioned the fact that the babies may not be staying. "This is turning into Charlotte's Web," Leo said reminding herself of the ending.."Oh my gosh, is Squiddy dead?" Leo said abandoning Squishy and began swimming downward. "Squiddy!!!!" She shouted loudly.

"Of course he's not dead, he's not a praying mantis you dimbulb!" Crys sighs and sims after her friend, amazed that Leo was so comfortable going into the deeper water considering...well Leo hated all water, anyway.

Leona momentarily shuddered at the thought of being so deep in the water, forgetting that she was on a mission to find Squiddy. "Squiddy! Where art thou?" She shouted, looking over to Crys hoping she'd start signing to him soon, or use the Squiddy signal.

Crys sighs and points her wand out into the ater, sending out a pulse of sound that echoes through the water. the mother becomes agitated and starts to swim away, her babies right behind her.

Leo waves at Squishy. "Bye bye Squishy!" Leo said, then suddenly it got very dark, and quiet..."It's wet, too wet," Leo said quoting some cartoons she used to watch, well let's face it, she still does. Suddenly she saw a very large fish swim past her. The fish was the size of a large dog, so Leo was understandably nervous, yet she had the oddest feeling that she wanted to catch it.

Crys watches the fish go by, wary now. "That's a new one...don't get me wrong, the lake's full of surprises, but this is beginning to get worrisome." This was a magic lake, and that meant anything could happen, but all the sudden new life was troubling. What if someone had called up a gateway to the ancient times of the lake, and suddenly a plesiosaur was gonna come swimming by

Leona nodded at Crys. Suddenly she saw hundreds of bubbles come from a crack. "Uh, Crys either we've found Squiddy or Hogwarts was built under a volcano and we are all going to die." Leo said with a moderate fright in her voice.

"Okay, in order: No we haven't, No it wasn't, and Yes we are. SWIM FOR IT!" Crys turns tail and claws through the water for shore. There were a million thoughts running through her head all at once, and the only clear one she could get a hold of was "we're gonna be famous as all heck if that's a Nessy"

Leona blinked slow on the up take when she saw Crys swimming like mad for the shore. "Hey, wait for me!!" Leo shouted than began swimming for the shore. "What do you mean we have a Nessa? This is Lock Ness!" Leo shouted, wishing she was a better swimmer. "I'm gonna die in the water, I freaking knew it!"

"Yeah well odds are also good you're gonna die in the stomach of a giant swimming reptile now which would you REALLY prefer?!" Crys snaps, grabbing Leo's hand and swinging her to the surface before following right behind. "HEAD FOR SHORE!"

Leona lost her senses when she was pushed forward by Crys. Leona paddled hard when she was told to swim for shore. "I don't want to be digested by a sea monster!" Leo shouted, suddenly she felt the ground rupture below her. "Hurry!!" Leo shouted for no real reason, other than being obvious.

"Oh gee and here I was thinking now was the perfect time for a picnic!" Crys hits the shallows and stands, slogging through until her feet reach dry Terra Firma. She turns back and looks out at the lake, her wand out and ready in case whatever it was...was amphibious.

Leona jumped out of the water just in time to keep from getting her feet bitten off by the thing that was coming up from the lake. Leo tackled Crys en route to dry land. Leona shook her wet hair in her face, "My bad," she said in a groan, wondering her leap form the water doomed them all.

"As is to be expected..." Crys mutters as she extricates herself from under her friend. "Okay...any idea what it is that's down there trying to kill us? Because let me tell you, clues would be nice..." Crys rubs her forehead, trying to think straight even as the adrenaline fled her system.

"I don't know but whatever it was, it's got teeth," Leo said looking towards the now murky lake. Seconds later a threatening tentacle breached the waters and came crushing down on something. "Wow, looks like Squiddy's fighting it off, or we're dealing with a Kracken, and if that's the case, I need to have a word with Jones..
