Q: How do I get more money in Gringotts?
A: The best most efficient way to recieve money, is to be active and post! You get a certain amount of money for every post in the discussion boards (boards under Hogwarts Library) Alos, check out these links for quick money:

Q: I can't see all of the boards! Is my computer messing up?
A: Your computer is fine. New Hogwarts Students don't have acess to all of the boards like Hogwarts Academy, Diagon Alley, etc. You have to sorted in The Sortign Hat. Once you are sorted into a house, then all of the boards will be magically visible to you.

Q: What is the bank for and how do I get more money into my bank?
A: You bank is going to be used to buy books for classes, cauldrons, cloaks, brooms etc. so make sure you stay active to get more money! To learn how to get extra funds in your bank account, go to the Want to earn more money? thread.


Q: How do you change your profile/signature?
Scroll all the way up to the LC banner. There is a link that says My Controls. Click that and it will allow to update your profile, signature, etc.


Q: How do you center the text in your post and signature?
A: To center things, use this code:
[align=center] Text you want centered here. [*/align]

Q: There are a lot of boards here! I can I tell where everyone is active at?
A: To see the newest posts, click theView New Posts option at the top of your screen, by your PM box controls. Also, go to the bottom of the site and click Today's Active Topics. It will show all of the threads that were active and the boards that they are located at.

HOW TO:

The My Controls Section
The first thing you want to do is to create a profile so we know a little bit about you. Click the My Controls link, which is at the top right of all pages. The My Controls page contains all of your personal settings, including personal messages, profile info, signature info, and avatar settings. We'll go over all these in more detail later on. To start off with, let's edit your profile info. Click the corresponding link on the bottom left of the page.

Editing Your Profile
Here you can fill in your date of birth, messenger contacts, home page, location, and interests. Fill in any info you wish to give, then click Amend my profile. Remember that your e-mail address will not be shown to anyone in the interest of privacy. There's also a special feature that isn't immediately evident! When you reach twenty-five posts, a new box will appear in this area called Custom Member Title. This will allow you to have a phrase underneath your user name which will appear by all posts. For now, your title is Insert title here. As you reach new levels, you will also get badges () to denote your status. Here's the breakdown of how your title will change.


Editing Your Signature
Directly under the profile link is a link to Edit Signature. A signature is text that appears at the bottom of each message you post. For example, my signature includes a link to my website. Type in whatever you wish to use as a signature and click Update my signature.

Adding an Avatar
An avatar is a picture that appears next to your user name in posts. For example, my avatar is a custom macaroni and cheese box. To upload an avatar, choose one of three options:

1) A pre-installed avatar. Simply click the one you want and choose Add this avatar to my profile.
2) A picture from another site. Enter the web address and press Add....
3) A picture on your hard drive. Click Browse or enter the picture name, and enter the picture dimensions. Please note that there is a maximum dimension for avatars, which is currently 64 × 64 pixels. Avatars also have a maximum size of 10k.

You may also choose to remove your avatar by clicking the last option button, I don't wish to use an avatar (remove all current).

Now your profile is complete!

Personal Messages
You can PM any user by clicking the button next to one of their posts. A personal message travels to the other user instantly; the next time they log in they will see their new message. You can use this as an alternative to e-mail. To see if you have new messages, simply look at the top right of the screen; next to the My Controls link you will see a link that says x new messages. To write a new message, you can also click the link in your My Controls section that says Compose New Message.

I didn't get my $150 newbie money, professor, what do i do?

The money may not show up in your profile but you do have it. Whenever you buy something jsut say your using your necessities package which is $150.00, use it wisely ;)

how do I get into my common room?

it's not showing up on your profile that your a hufflepuff, so technically you haven't been sorted yet, as in, your profile hasn't been changed. when its changed you will receive an 'official owl' with the password and you will be able to get into your common room then...

How do you earn House Points?

You earn house points by particpating in classes, and doing the homework. Also they can be awarded to you for excellence or taken away by Prefects, and/or Professors. Also we have a couple of House Challenges a couple times a year which awards house points as well. We just had one in either May or June. It was the fashion show. :)

I've been posting a lot today but my post count on my profile has been stuck at 16 for at least the last 5 posts....I think my account broke! :lol:

sadly, no....There are some forums in which you don't get post count, it's a pain, but there it is...hope that helps :D

Just to clarify a little more on Leo's response which is absoultely correct, none of the game forums have post count, and there are a few other forums that dont as well. They are recreational only. Most (but not all) of the RPG forums do however count for post count, as well as Diagon Alley and your dorm room. :)

It's a poo . . . I refuse to post in RPG's nowadays so my post count has probably gone up a huge total of like 3-4 posts for the last few months HAHA :D

I am sorry to bug you, but how do i post a pic of my wand under my name?

You mean like make a post with a picture of your wand, or do you mean putting it in your signature?

If you want to make a post and add a picture of your wand, simple hit the "Reply button", write what you want to write, then you can make a link to a pic of your wand-> Go to the "http" button by the fonts, copy and paste the link of where the pic of your wand is, and give it a name i.e "My wand"
OR
You can save the image on Photobucket or Tinypic, then using the URL with "[IMG][/IMG]", post it, using copy and paste.

If you want the pic in your sig, follow the Photobucket/Tinypic option.
To get to your signature, click on your name, then hunt for something like "edit signature" which will be above the PM/Hotmail details.

Is there a specific topic where it is announced which person has won and lost points of their houses?

Yes. House points only really get added at the end of each year. But there's normally a thread in your House saying who did what and how many points they got. This also applies when we have inter-house competitions (which normally take about a year).

Uh, as for losing points; I don't know if anyone's really lost points their house.

Yes people have lost points, but it is something that we dont really like doing. I don't know if you're aware or not, Amber, but you actually have earned 5 house points recently in Madam Malkins and I know your house appreciates it. :) As for a house point thread, I don't know if the Hufflepuffs have one or not, but there isn't a thread like that in Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw as far as I know. It's a really great idea though, and I think I'll make one for us Gryffz this weekend. Thanks Heath! :D

Rouge makes the threads. It makes sense seeing as he's the one that starts the competitions and decides who gets however many points for said competitions.

actually thats in the hour glass in the main forums as far as house boards there is no such place in the slytherin house but i agree with dream and i'll start one up this weekend

How do people get house points in Madam Maulkins? And when is this end of the year? Not the real end in December right? Please tell me I didn’t miss it when House Cup was given out?

Dream I look forward to seeing some kind of counter in the Tower. Maybe if more people knew how to get points they would do more things to make that happen.

People get house points in Madam Malkins because it is owned by a Prefect. :P If you see someone in your shop who seems worthy of House Points being given or taken, just let me or another Prefect know and we'll take a look. :) Remy I think it's a great idea for you to do it too! No you didn't miss the house cup. In fact it's been awhile since the house cup was calculated but we can keep a running total of at least what our own houses make or lose so we have a general idea of where we stand.

i didn't know that. i will take a look at her post and see what might be special about it so i can let you know if someone is doing good that needs to be reported.

Can anyone help me? I've posted my answers to the sorting hat but no has told me what house I'm in. I posted my answer on the 13 July and its now the 19. I can't post my bio or go to to the castle as I have not been allocated in my house yet. Any suggestins?
