The LC is moving on up! I know lately things have been so so, perhaps even dry but all of that is about to change! Not only do we have several activties planned for the upcoming weeks/months (carnvial, class trip, classes, etc.) but the LC forum is going to be completely upgraded. They tell me that the conversion is going to take place within the next two weeks. I'll keep you posted on this, but to say the least, I am VERYYYYYYY excited about this!

What feature are you MOST excited for? I'd have to say the skin selector and blogs. Sometimes you come to the LC and you just want a different look. Now you can change it as many times as you want. And the blogs are going to be awesome too because you can update it, name it whatever you want, etc. I think that's going to keep everyone informed on what's up with everyone more.

Ooooo it's so exciting, almost like Christmas :P I'm kind of excited about changing my username too, I tend to get called Dora a lot lol. But theres so much changing that its hard to pick one thing to be excited about lol. I know Emma will be excited about the avatars tho :firedevil:

Wow I was gonna put up a high five for Dream because we are most excited about the same thing, but then she pulled a just kidding on me and made me look like a (b)witch for being excited to block things. So I guess I’ll be unoriginal and say I am excited about changing my name. I am definitely gonna capitalize it. But I am sad that Melie is gonna change hers. I liked Melie from the first time I saw her user name. I thought it was so clever that she must be cool.

Oh my god..I'm going to get so confused with all of this changing of the names. I'm going to start calling the wrong people the wrong names like I use to call Marcus, Mark, and Mark, Marcus. lol.

Maybe we should have a rule that says you can only change your user name to your character name.

To explain Leo's color thing, you know how the mods names are blue when they are on the site? This option would allow regular members to have a color as well. (I think.) :P

Wow! Glad to see yall excited, so am I! Other boards have already been converted, so ours should happen anytime now. Just so you know there *might* be some downtime, I'm not really sure.

But yes, my color will be Light Green or something to that effect, I'm not really sure. But I think I'm gonna have the colored names in the SHOP that we're gonna have, so if you want a color, you will be able to purchase it. I think. Haven't really worked out everyhing.

I'm really excited for the skin changer as well...that's gonna be oobers of fun.

As for the name change, yes you will be able to do it, but I think I'm gonna make it so that I have to approve the name and such. We wouldn't want folks changing their usernames every other week, know what I mean? That will be too confusing. But that's also why we'll have the past username option so you can see who use to be who.

The Unlimited Sub-forums is also an option that we will have. So that means more forums for us, including a Ministry of Magic if we want to, St. Mungo's, etc.

I have always been quite fond of the Cin Red, seems to discribe Scarlett well, but it is so pretty that if other folks want to use it to I understand. But I would be willing to buy it from you Professor.

Mmmm... that's ok, I guess. I much preferred the older LC versions, but hey, technology is progressing rapidly. To me, it just means that more can go wrong with servers, and things will probably be more complicated and less fast.

No actually it's the total opposite. Our providers have been in development of this for as long as the LC has been around, for over 4 years. So testing for bugs and all that stuff (though some are still likely to come up) have been done several times. Forum uptime is defaintly something that will increase and the site won't be slow at all. It'll be faster.

Well, Mod's have tags. Prefect, headmaster ect. So they'll be able to tell as far as that. I think that maybe there should be a year cut off for some of these things though, so that we know the people are gonna stay. What's the point in having people change everything if they aren't gonna stay in the long run?

That being said, what ARE the colors going to be? All the ones on our color list? I always liked MERGE.

I mean at the bottom of the main page. Rouge's name is in bright green, so it's easy to identify him straight away.

Hmm, well I *think* names can be bolded, underlined and put into italics somehow at the online list; then mods can be underlined or something.

As for the blogs, it's not that upgraded that you get to customize the blogs, not yet at least. I've tested it out. You can name your blog and such, there are certain settings like you have the option of showing who is reading your blog at the time, and stuff like that. There's a little section for your to write a description about yourself/blog/whatever. But basically it's just meant for straight blogging. Folks can post comments and all that good stuff. I'm really excited for this one because as you know me, busy, busy, busy. If I can come on update my blog and such, at least you all will know what's going on and such. I dunno. I can't wait for this one.

As for your color Shonks...watch it! That's dangerously close to MY color. :lol:

Great point to bring up. I don't want things to get out of hand so that we have like 15 different colored names showing up here. So there will have to be some type of guidelines. Right now it's the pricing. The price is gonna kind of high I think, and I'm debating on if I want to have only a certtain year level or above be able to purchase it. Then again, that doesn't make much sense because theoretically, if the price is high, you have to kind of be in a certain year to have that much money. I dunno. we'll see.

Someone also asked when this was going to happen. Anyday now. I think that I *may* have pushed our board being coverted day by pushing the option more than once, but I'm not sure. . . .perhaps within the next 2 weeks?

This way we know that they'll be staying and they won't steal all the good usernames :P I don't see the point really in letting everyone play with all of these features because they should be prizes or something for dedicated members (not dedicated as in really super active, just as in active). I agree that the price should be pretty high, but it should be year based too in order to off set costs. I spend my money, well because I like shopping mostly, but also cuz I like helping people make a real paycheck in their shops. I don’t think we should encourage people to hoard their money to buy colors. The thought that I might not be able to get a color is making me not want to spend money at the carnival.

I don't think name changing should be allowed; it will make things confusing, and tough if you don't like your current name.

Or a limit on how many times you can change your name.

Meh, it would be confusing for some people, though all you would really have to do is look at posts or their signatures or something (if you didn't want to go see their previous names).

And maybe if people REALLY want colours, you could try and make it work in specific groups i.e. first years are the current colour, second years are a brighter blue, third years are blue-green, etc. It could also become confusing though.

Like it was mentioned before, i think if you want to change your username it should be to your characters name, like mine would be Melie Heartwood, that kind of thing, that way its not confusing at all, and if people were to get confused by that.....

I don't care what anyone says . . . I'm still Fred! :P Though I agree to a limit or at least some sort of time limit to the next time you change your name. That way people wont be changing their name every five minutes to confuse people and annoy them like I totally wasn't planning to do :P
