The moon was over the lake and the night sky was beautifully reflected in the water. Lyla was sitting under a tree and was overlooking the entire lake. There was a sense of calm in the air which was suddenly broken when a screech came from the forest. Lyla did not flinch; she had seen and heard many dark things in her short life so she was no stranger to danger. She stood up slowly and started moving towards the forest, she found herself almost at the entrance, her hands trembled a bit.

- “It must be the cold” – she said to herself.

At that very moment she heard her owl Étoile fly in and stand on a branch above her, she almost screamed.

- “Étoile! Qu’est-ce que tu fais? Tu me va tuer d’un peur! If you want to follow me, Étoile then fly above just don’t just whoosh over me” – Lyla said.

Lyla looked around, she wished someone was insight but she couldn’t see anyone so she decided what the heck. She went inside. She started walking in the direction of the screech. All of a sudden there it was again. Lyla could identify where the sound was coming from and soon found herself in an open space. She walked over to what seemed to be the body of an animal but it was too ravaged to make out what it was before it lay there. Lyla stepped a bit forward and looked down to her feet.

- “Oh my god” – she said in a whisper covering her mouth with her hands, there was blood on the ground, but it wasn’t normal blood. It was silver. The now shattered, unrecognizable body on the ground was that of a unicorn.

- “Who could have done this?” – Lyla asked almost to herself.

Scarlett was sitting by the lake drinking in the deep beauty of the night, when the hush was rent with a cry so horrible it brought tears to Scarlett’s eyes. She stood and turned to see a girl that didn’t look familiar to her headed into the Forbidden Forest. Scarlett ran to catch up with her. No one should have to face that sound alone. She caught up to the girl in a clearing where a body lay. Scarlett who normally was sickened by the site of blood just stared. She had never seen anything like this. She thought it might be a unicorn because she had read about the properties of their blood in Potions class and knew it to be silver. “I don’t know, but they must be twisted,” Scarlett answered the other girl’s question in her soft southern drawl, though she knew it had not been addressed to her.

Lyla turned and had her wand directed at the person who was behind her as soon as she heard the other's voice. When Lyla saw it was another student from the Ravenclaw house she put down her wand.

- "God, you got a habit of sneaking up on people?" - Lyla asked her with a grin - "Evidently you are right, but to do something like this takes a lot more than just twisted".

Lyla then walked further into the forest as she followed some blood stained foot prints. Lyla then turned around at Scarlett and said with a smile.

- "I'm Lyla by the way, no grim sittuation brings me down so I'm capable of smiling even in the presence of death. You got any plans for tonight or are you just curious as I am to find out where this goes?".

“Sorry to scare you,” Scarlett said. She could understand how anyone would be jumpy in such horrible surroundings.

“Nice to meet you, though I wish the circumstances were more pleasant,” Scarlett said. “My name is Scarlett. I’m in Gryffindor. You must be cheerful indeed to be able to smile in the presence of such a terrible death.” Scarlett meant it as a compliment, but she wasn’t sure if it came out quite right. She saw the shimmering tracks and she answered Lyla’s last question, “I had planned on star gazin’, but I guess my plans have changed. Let’s see what lies at the end of this trail.”

Emily was soaring over the forbidden forest in the form of her animagus, the Raven, she had decided to go for a fly as it was such a nice evening, and there was no point in wasting it.
Emily glided over the top of the trees when she saw some movement bellow, seeing the people under her were Scarlett and Lyla she decided to find out what her two friends were doing. So she dived and flew in between the trees landing on the ground and changing back into her human self almost instantly.
She walked over to them "hi guy....." she trailed off and replaced her words with a gasp "oh my gosh, what could have done this!" Emily said with the sight bringing tears to her eyes her.

Dream was fast asleep in her dorm room when suddenly she was jolted awake by a bombardment of pain and sorrow. Her eyes shot open and she jumped out of bed, running to her open window and staring over the Quidditch Pitch to the dark forest behind it. She breathed in a few deep breaths and quickly yanked on a pair of jeans, sweater and sneakers. Then she grabbed her broom and dove out of her window. In mid-flight she swung her broom underneath herself and pulled up the nose of her broom in order to level out. Then she followed the directions of the animals, all of them pointing her in the same direction. She flew into the forest, dodging branches and trees, thankful that she was on a firebolt because it turned so quickly. Soon she saw three figures up ahead of her. It was too dark to make them out, so Dream pulled out her wand and got ready to attack. "What do you think you're doing over there?" she hissed as she got closer.

With the arrival of Emily, Lyla knew this wasn't going to be boring at all. But before she could answer Emily's question she saw a figure she also had met in the past. It was Dream, the one who had become now a full fledged prefect.

- "Well it seems bumping into people from the past never stops. Yet we only started talking before I went away. So hi Dream nice night isn't it? Well it so happens we heard a screech in the forest and we decided to check out what it was. When I followed the sound it led me over here with that body over there that once was a beautiful unicorn... now it's not even the shadow of it's former self" - Lyla said with a tone of sadness as she came to voice this fact.

Lyla then turned to Emily, her best friend and gave her a smile.

- "I bet you a butterbeer I find the baddie first" - Lyla said and looked over at Scarlett and Dream - "You are welcome to place your bets aswell guys" - as she finished with a grin she began walking deeper into the forest. Her wand was gripped tightly in her hand with a lumos spell to help her as the trees were closer and closer to each other the deeper they went into the forest.

- "So Dream, are you up to some mischief? I know in the old days you were" - Lyla asked.

Emily grinned at Lyla she would normally join in with the fun of the bets but this time Emily really needed to calm down before she did so. she then looked up and saw Dream soaring towards them on her firebolt, she then landed and was obviously as saddened by the the sight as she was, maybe even more as animals were Dreams passion.
"Dream its terrible! The poor thing! what did this disgusting deed!" she asked tears trickling down her face.
She then then looked back down at the body of the unicorn when she saw it move a little "IT MOVED!" Emily yelled "ITS STILL ALIVE! We have got to help it!!!" Emily said watching the magical creature move again.

Emma heard the door to the Ravenclaw house open and close twice. Both times two of the girls from the house walked out, and did not come back shortly. Sitting up from the sofa where she was studying, she slipped on her pumas and left the house.

As she walked down one of the trails to the forbidden forest, she saw a group of figures standing around. "Hey guys." she said, walking up next to Dream and Scarlett. Seeing Emily pointing madly at something on the ground, Emma looked down to see silver blood. "Oh wow.." she said softly, watching the animal move slightly. "I wonder how long it has been like this. Is there anything we can do to stop the bleeding?" she asked.

Dream was completely overwhelmed at this point because she could feel the animal's pain and she had three people talking to her at once. She managed to give Lyla a wan smile, before grabbing onto Scarlett's arm in order to keep her balance. She really wanted to be sick, but she had to pull herself together for the sake of the unicorn in front of her. Times like this she really wished that she wasn't an animal telepath. "Emma, try to heal the minor injuries and slow the flow of blood. We have to get her to Hagrid and then when we have to find whoever did this." she said, trying desperately to sound in control even though her fingernails were digging slightly into Scarlett's arm.

Lyla looked back as Emma had shown up and saw the unicorn move for a second as Emily pointed at it.

- "God I'm officially the most insensitive person in this picture" - she said almost to herself and then looked at Dream who she could tell was really affected by the scene, but it was evident she didn't feel bad just for looking at it, it was definately something else like the emotions that the animal was feeling were pouring on her like a waterfall.

- "We should do this quickly, the thing that attacked this animal can not get too much of a headstart from us" - Lyla said and waited for Emma to patch the unicorn's injuries so she could help move it towards hagrid. She had telekinetic powers so she could help move the unicorn without much effort.

- "I can pick up it's body with my mind and take it quickly to Hagrid after Emm works her magic" - Lyla said.

Dream heard Lyla say that she could move it and she remembered that Lyla was telekenetic. She gave her a grateful nod and looked over at the other girls. Hearing Lyla get involved with helping the injured animal helped her push away some of the pain and despair and focus on herself in order to be useful. She pulled open her purse and pulled out a clean sweater and she walked over to the unicorn. It was shaking with pain and fear, but Dream continued to talk to her as she stepped closer and closer. Soon Dream was kneeling beside her, Dream's hands on her glossy coat. Dream looked closely at the wound and saw that there was a stab wound at the top of her ribs. "The cut isn't as big as one would think, but she's bleeding too much. We have to make it stop." she said.

Lyla kneeled over beside Dream and looked at the wound, the wound was pouring blood a lot. While Emma got prepared to do what she knew how to do, Lyla took a handkerchief from her bag and pressed it to the wound.

- "Keeping pressure on it will help at least slow it down, the stab probably grazed an artery, and if that's the case we have to move fast or we will loose her" - Lyla said looking over at Em so she would hurry.

Emma nodded to Dream and began to walk slowly towards the unicorn. She watched as Dream and Lyla joined her and tried to help stop the bleeding. Looking at the wound, she saw that it was a stab wound, and several pieces of glass were sticking out. "We need to take these out before I can heal it." she said outloud, carefully pulling the shards of glass out. Laying them on the glass, she took out her wand and muttered "Episkey".

She watched, knowing the unicorn would not understand the hot then cold feeling of the spell healing it's body. "It's ok." she said in a calm voice to the unicorn. She motioned to Dream and Lyla to take the pressure off of the animal. It was a good idea to clot it, but now that the spell was healing the wound, the clot would do nothing.

Looking at Dream she said, "I know some basic remedies that I learned from Herbology and my mom, but I can't do anything hear. Hagrid might have some of the supplies needed, or the potions class might have some.", turning to Lyla she added.."The unicorn can probably be moved now."

Lyla took the handkerchief off of the wound and then looked at Emma and nodded. Lyla the stood up. She closed her eyes for a second picturing in her mind very clearly what she wanted to do. The unicorn's body began lifting softly as if it was lifted on a table and suddenly it was floating infront of them. Lyla then opened her eyes and began to walk in the direction of Hagrid's house. She only made a motion with her hand so they would follow her as she needed her complete concentration on keeping the unicorn from falling back to the ground.

The path almost seemed eternal for her, she was starting to sweat and as the view of Hagrid's house became nearer she could feel the strength of her concentration weaken. It was only a bit further she thought, and then right before she had lost all concentration she managed to put the unicorn safely on the ground infront of Hagrid's house.

Lyla then collapsed on her knees, blood flowing from her nose.

- "Knock on the door please" - Lyla said to her friends as she lay there on the ground.

Scarlett was happy when the Calvary arrived. She lent Dream all the support that she could. Once Dream had sat down by the unicorn and begun trying to calm it, Scarlett drew her wand and watched the forest around her. All the girls were working smoothly together and Scarlett took it upon herself to watch for danger since she possessed no other skills that could be of use. Once she thought she saw red eyes staring out of the forest at her. She watched them, but chose not to say anything least the healing be interrupted. After a short time the eyes disappeared and Scarlett continued to watch. When Lyla began to carry the unicorn with her mind Scarlett mentioned the red eyes to Dream. Scarlett walked with her wand still out in front of Lyla and the unicorn so that nothing came at them. When the girls and the unicorn had all reached Hagrid’s hut Scarlett hastened to obey Lyla and knocked on the door of the hut.

Scarlett was a bit taken aback by the huge man who answered. She had heard much about Hagrid, but had never met him. “Well what have we here?” he boomed in a great jovial voice. Scarlett was about to answer when he saw past her to the real problem at hand. “Blimey,” he said all but pushing Scarlett out of the way to get to the unicorn. Scarlett did not mind. She took up her post as watcher and decided to let the others explain the situation to Hagrid.

Remy was in the forest taking care of his date tree when he decided to make his way back to the castle. On his way back a cloaked figure sped past him brushing him aside as he did so, "hey watch it" remy yelled as he looked down and saw a glint of silvery blood and knew what it was. Instead of chasing after the culprit remy instead headed towards the area the man had come running from. He had heard unicorn blood helped sustain life and he wanted to see if the rumor was true unfortunately before he got there he heard voices and he hid behind a tree just staring the light from the moon making his brown eyes look reddish. He heard them say they were taking the unicorn to hagrids and he stopped deciding instead to go after the cloaked figure when he heard another noise. A baby unicorn stumbled out of a brush hidden before but now curious as to where its mother was. Remy stared at it, the slytherin in him grinning at the golden opportunity fate had placed in front of him while the prefect in him knew it would be wrong to do so.

Dream watched in silence as Emma attempted to heal the unicorn. She did everything that she was asked to do and stayed out of the way when she couldn't do anything. The whole time, she kept up a stedy flow of conversation and encouragement with the magical creature. While conversing she learned that there was a baby nearby, and Dream promised to look out for it and bring it to it's mother once she found it. When Lyla levitated the unicorn into the air, Dream gave a sigh of relief. It was going to be ok. That's when Scarlett told Dream about the red eyes that had been watching them. She shivered a little and reached into her purse, pulling out Remy's invisibility cloak. "I'll meet you guys there. If I'm not there in a half hour, come back with help." she whispered to Scarlett. Then she walked alongside the girls until she got to a large tree. She ducked behind it, and quickly slipped on the cloak. She could feel someone watching them, and she didn't want to be seen. She silently retraced her steps, stopping in awe as she stared at the beautiful golden baby unicorn in front of her. Suddenly she caught a movement out of the corner of her eye. It was Remy, and the way he was looking at the baby was making Dream nervous. She held her breath and decided to give her beloved a chance to the right thing before jumping to the little one's defense.

Emma relaxed and stood up as Lyla levitated the unicorn towards Hagrid's. Looking at her silver blood stained hands, she wiped them off in the grass before catching up with the others. She was aware that Dream had disapeared, where to she did not know, but she didnt want to make a big deal of it. Dream probably didnt want to be noticed that she had disapeared.
Walking up beside Scarlett, she heard Hagrid stomp down towards where the unicorn was laying. Walking closer to Hagrid, Emma began to explain what happened,
"We just found her like this. She lost a lot of blood, though we think the wound isnt as bad as it looks. They tried to clot the bleeding while I tried to heal some of the cuts." she said, looking down at the pour creature.

Lyla closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them once more, a big headache and the blood always came when she forced herself more than normally when using her power. She took a small cloth from her bag and wiped the blood off her nose. She then looked around for a moment and realized Dream had gone.

She then turned her attention to Hagrid and her friend who were gathered around him and the unicorn.

- "Well, whatever hurt this lil feller migh' still be 'round somewhere, you lot best get back to the castle. This is goin' to be a bad night I wager. I'll take care of 'er you girl get goin' now" - Hagrid said.

- "No chance in hell" - Lyla said in a whisper and got up stumbling a bit to the side because of the effects of the telekinesis.

- "Are ya all right there?" - Hagrid asked Lyla only smiled for a moment.

- "Just a bit dizzy is all" - Lyla said and then Hagrid carried the unicorn inside his house.

- "Well by now we all realized Dream is gone, so let's go in there and try to find her" - Lyla suggested.

“Right,” said Scarlett simply agreeing with Lyla. She motioned the other girls to follow her a ways away from Hargrid’s door in the general direction of the castle. “I saw some red eyes in the clearin’,” she told the other girls as soon as they had followed her. “I let Dream know about it and she went to investigate. We should head back to the clearin’ and see if we can help her. She may have left some signs as to where she went because she told me to come back if she didn’t find me first.” Scarlett headed back toward the clearing being careful to sneak when in sight of the windows in Hagrid’s hut. She hoped the other girls would follow because she had an idea that she would need as much help as she could get.

Emily had been in shock throughout the hole of the events unwinding in front of her, she still couldn't believe what she had saw.
"I've got to snap out of this!" Emily said to herself, taking a deep breath and walking off into the distance hoping to find her friends once again.
She then came across Dream who seemed to be spying on Remy and a baby unicorn, Emily gasped it had clicked that this baby was probably the foal of the injured one they had found earlier.
She then walked up to Dream "why you spying on him for?" Emily whispered gesturing over to Remy.

Remy stared at the small animal and wondered if he should just avada kedavra it here or cut it up with serpentsortia. He moved his hands to reach for the wand in his pocket when the small unicorn saw him and ran up to him bleating. "no no no dont do that im not a good person im trying to kill you" he whispered as he tried to move back away from it managing to trip over a root on the floor and falling on his behind. The unicorn ran up to him and jumped up happily in front of him causing Remy to laugh.

Emma watched with sad eyes as Hagrid carried the unicorn away. They may never know if it survived the night. Sighing, she followed Scarlett and listened as she mentioned the red eyes. "Hopefully it's nothing." she said in a monotone before looking up and adding, "Though if it is something, then this will be a long night."

OOC: I'm under an invisibility cloak Emmers, spying on Remy. Lol. But I'll make it work. It will involve slight godmodding so if you want me to change it I will.

BIC: Dream turned a little as she heard someone approaching behind her. She saw that it was Emily so she quickly grabbed her and yanked her under the invisibility cloak with her. "Shh." she hissed to her best bud. She continued to watch Remy and her eyes widened in anger as she heard him say that he was trying to kill the baby unicorn. She sent the unicorn assurances that it would be fine, and then she smiled as Remy fell down and the baby unicorn began to prance in front of him. She pulled her own wand out her pocket and pointed it at the unicorn, using a silent spell to put a shield around it in case Remy really did try to do something stupid.

Emily gasped as Dream pulled her under the invisibility cloak, she turned to look at her and smiled, but no smile was returned as Dream was too busy staring furiously at her husband. Emily looked over to him and saw that he was threatening the baby unicorn. Emily turned to Dream "why is he doing that?" Emily whispered outraged at Remys actions.

Dream heard Emily's question and she forced herself to calm down enough to respond. "Probably feels the need to prove to himself that he is an evil Slytherin. Knowing him he thinks that he'll live forever or something lame like that." she whispered bitterly. "I don't think he's got the guts to kill a baby, but then again it's not the first time he would have." she added, feeling the familiar wrench in her heart of losing her unborn son. She swore right then that if Remy harmed that baby unicorn then she would make him wish that he'd never laid eyes on her.

Emily listened as Dream answered her question, she then turned to Remy and looked as him disgusted "what the hell is wrong with him?" Emily said bitterly "i swear sometimes he's just plain stupid!" Emily said having an urge to go kick his arse but restraining herself.

Scarlett led her little group back to the clearing where she beheld one the most enchanting sites she had ever seen. There was a tiny golden unicorn playing with Remy. Scarlett felt a pang when she realized it must be the other unicorn’s baby. She walked over to Remy and offered him a hand up. “Been out here long?” she asked him. “We found the mother in this clearing a little while ago. We took to Hagrid’s.” Scarlett wanted to let Remy know what was going on, but she didn’t really know how smart most unicorns were. She had once met one that could talk and she didn’t want to say too much and alarm this little one if understanding English was the norm for a unicorn.

Dream nodded in full agreement with Emily's words and was about to reply when she heard someone else coming their way. She watched as Scarlett entered the clearing and walked up to Remy. She didn't know if she was relieved that Scarlett had shown up, making it impossible for Remy to carry out his threat, or if she was disappointed because she didn't get the chance to see what Remy would have chosen to do. She shrugged and removed the invisibility cloak from around herself and Emily. She didn't say a word, she just continued to watch.

Lyla took a little more time to catch up to Scarlett as she was still a bit dizzy. She then found Remy with a baby unicorn and smiled at it.

- "Awww it's so gorgeous" - Lyla walked up to it and pet it on the head - "Hi baby" - she said to it still petting it and then the image of it's mother came to her mind. She then looked around and saw Emily and Dream standing there by the trees.

- "You don't suppose this little one's mother is the one..." - Lyla said but didn't finish as she knew unicorns were really smart creatures and it could realize something was wrong.

Remy frowned as everyone showed up. He nodded his head as he looked around at the floor and saw the tracks the unknown assailant had made and he gasped as he saw hooves. "No wonder it was so fast he was on a horse remy said out loud as he knelt down in front of hte tracks

Scarlett was a little indignant that Remy brushed off her hand up, but she followed him over to the tracks he was inspecting all the same. “Lumos,” she said and shined the light of her wand at the tracks. There were many other places in the clearing that glittered with smears of unicorn blood. It would have been an enchanting site if Scarlett had not known what the glimmering substance was. “Maybe the assailant wasn’t ridin’ a horse, but was a horse. Well a centaur I mean.”

Lyla frowned a bit, why would a centaur do that? It was totally unclear and it got more confusing as the theories on who the attacker was, were elaborated.

- "So I think we should follow them, if it's a centaur or it's riding a horse it has a really good head start by now" - Lyla said and then walked in the direction that the trail of prints were headed.

Emma stood in between the trees, watching everyone gather around the baby. It wasnt until they spotted hooves that she spoke up. "The centaurs did just recently gain a new leader for their pack.They have been doing some very unusual things." she said, walking over to Scarlett and looking at the hooves. She glanced back to see the baby unicorn dancing around slightly.

"It was just an idea," Scarlett said a bit defensively. "There is an awful lot of blood spread all around and only hoof prints. If there was a separate rider then you'd think he would have had to get down at some point to collect the blood or drink it. But like I said it was just an idea."

Remy looked back and forth and grinned. "well centaur or guy on horse the point is he's getting away and thats something we can all agree that we dont want so lets get moving after him. The more we stay and stand around talking about what were going to do the further away he gets from us" he said as he began going back to where he had been when he saw the rider.

Dream was content to let everyone else talk about what could have happened to the unicorn and her baby. She used the time to talk to the baby to see if he'd seen anything that had happened. He hadn't but he did remember hearing strangle grunting sounds and that there had been more than one attacker. He'd been told to run by his mother before he'd been able to see anything. Dream assured him that his mother would be ok and gave him directions of how to get to Hagrid's hut. Then she gave orders to all of the nearby animals in the forest to take the baby to the hut and let her know if there was any trouble. She watched as the baby left the clearing and then she looked at her friends to see what they had decided.

Emily sighed "you guys, really do spend too much time arguing over what is what, the most important thing is catching whoever has done this, were wasting WAY to much time" Emily said emphasizing her words and starting to get frustrated with how everyone was just standing around. "I'm going to transform into my animagus, I'm a raven, i can cover ground fast and keep an eye out on what's happening bellow" Emily said "I recommend whoever can should as well, it hides us from whatever is out there, maybe even one of you should grab a thestral and fly with me?" Emily said waiting to see what her friends think of the plan.

Lyla looked over at where her friends were standing, she had moved into the forest a moment ago and was a few yards away from them.

- "Good idea Emily, although I get vertigo so no thestral for me. I'm heading in so you guys brainstorm if you want" - Lyla said giving them a grin and heading into the forest with her wand ready.

She kept walking into the forest until her friends were out of sight. Étoile, her owl, kept flying over her making sure to watch her back.

- "If you see anything, just tell me Étoile" - Lyla said. She then kept going in and heard a noise in the distance. An orange light was visible, the light was coming from several torches. Three creatures appeared to be talking amongst each other but from the angle that Lyla was looking at them she wasn't able to really see them. After a few moments they went away from there at full speed and Lyla was once again following.
