SiRiUsLyAdDiCtEd - March 31, 2005 06:00 AM (GMT)
this thread is just for stuff concerning the book itself, not the story in it :) (e.g., pagecount, release date, advertisement, i dunno....there'll be more stuff the closer we get...)
i was very surprised that we didn't have one of those threads yet :o , just for rumours. but i read something today and wanted to post it, so here it goes :)

'Potter' print-run record goes 'poof!'
Harry Potter keeps topping himself.

The sixth in J.K. Rowling's blockbuster series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, due in bookstores July 16, will have the all-time-highest initial print run of 10.8 million, according to an announcement Tuesday from the U.S. publisher, Scholastic.

That's a whopping 4 million more than the then-record-breaking initial print run for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth book in the series, published in 2003.

........

this is part of an article in the USA Today and to read the whole article you can find it on their site :)

here comes another article from BBC News :) i will only be posting part of it again, but it's quite interesting!

Bloomsbury set for Potter boost

Fictional magician Harry Potter is continuing to cast his spell over publisher Bloomsbury with his new book set to record bumper sales.

Bloomsbury said pre-orders for the sixth book in the series - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - were "substantially higher" than forecast.

As a result, it said profits for 2005 were now set to beat expectations.

Luna - April 4, 2005 12:24 PM (GMT)
When I saww this on Mugglenet a couple days ago I almost cried for all the coutries that aren't getting it until 2006! I would die if i had to wait that long!

FISH - April 4, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
what countrys aint gettin it till 2006 plz dont say USA!!!!!!!!!!!

Luna - April 5, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
No US is getting it on the normal date(THANK GOSH) like every other SANE country. except for germany, who i think is sane!

FISH - April 5, 2005 01:36 AM (GMT)
SANE MY BEST FRIEND IS FROM GERMNY!!! HES FREAKING INSANE

SiRiUsLyAdDiCtEd - April 6, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
lol.....thanks Luna :). And fish, i'm just gonna pretend that comment was only about your friend (and not everyone).

but i also wanted to point out that germany is on the list twice. it's the seventh country listed with the release date july 16th and then further down the line with another date. i'm assuming it's when the translation will come out. but since everyone learns english in school in germany i'm sure the hardcore potter fans will read it in english. i bet it's a lot better anyway.

and more news:

the 100 days of harry countdown has started!! you can download the 100 Days of Harry Countdown Clock to your desktop and get daily Harry Potter facts, an on-screen calendar, and Harry Potter web alerts! if you're interested you can find that on the scholastic site

more news!!

if you are thinking about ordering your copy online amazon.com might be the way to go! they are guaranteeing a july 16th delivery if you order it with standard shipping - NOT with the free super savings shipping!
also, if you are thinking about doing this make sure and check out the restrictions first!

Luna - April 6, 2005 12:33 PM (GMT)
YAY only 100 days left! *does a dance* I simply can't wait.
and FISH, THAT WAS MEAN!

Phoenix - April 16, 2005 09:13 AM (GMT)
oh me gawd that alot of country's. i pity the ones that have to wait for it to be translated! that would kinda suck.
interesting fact though- HP is even translated into irish and latin

cartoonangel79 - April 19, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
Did anyone else reserve an early copy at Borders?

I got an e-mail from Borders and was confused about what I needed to do with the things in it. I'm supposed to print something and take it into my local Borders to make sure they know I reserved early? Or is it just a discount on the book thing that I need to print? Any help would be appreciated!

SiRiUsLyAdDiCtEd - April 21, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
sorry, cartoonangel, i don't know how that works. i'm just gonna reserve me a copy at the store and get it there at midnight :D. i really need to do that soon! think i'll do that in the morning :). but you could ask your question in DD's office at the top of the site.....someone might be able to answer it there.

now to the news:

also on the bloomsbury harry potter site you can find some fun facts about all the books, but those are already a bit older. the new stuff is right on top and it's

the release date for the audio editions of HBP. dunno if any of you have listened to any of the tapes before, i personally haven't, but i hear they're quite good.

and the

Publication date is August 25th, 2005.

cartoonangel79 - April 21, 2005 07:58 AM (GMT)
Dag, oh well. I think I'm going to go to my Borders and find out what I'm supposed to do from them. Probably the best idea at this point. But thanks anyways!

  :D :P B) :)

Luna - April 21, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
I preefer to read the books, and then i may listen to it. Tho i never have before, but ppl say they're fantastic.
Good luck cartoonangel79!

SiRiUsLyAdDiCtEd - April 29, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
info on audio books

dunno if the date got changed or if it was incorrect, but mugglenet is now reporting that the UK-version of the audio book is available on july 16th instead of august 25th. barnes & noble already has it available for pre-order.

a bit more info on the audiobooks: they are available in a 18 CD set (costing $75) or 12 cassettes (costing $50). the story will be over 21 hours long and will be narrated by Jim Dale.

Luna - April 29, 2005 03:39 PM (GMT)
Whoa! that's crazy! i think even the worst reader would prefer to read them instead of buying audio books! but hey, this tells us something, doesn't it? 18 CD? does anyone klno how many there were for the other books? we could estimate the length

Phoenix - April 30, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
what!!!???!!! that is completely insane! i pity the poor person who's voice was recorded for that! it must have been sore for weeks!

Shonk Da 'Onk - June 1, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
From JKRowling.com:
- The link between Chamber of Secrets and Half-Blood Prince relates to a discovery Harry made in 'Chamber' that foreshadows something that he finds out in 'Prince'.
- Tom Riddle is not the Half Blood Prince (he is Voldemort).
- Arthur Weasley is not the Minister of Magic.
- Crucial information in The Half-Blood Prince was originally planned to be placed in Chamber of Secrets, the second book.
- The HBP (half-blood prince) is not Harry or Voldemort.
- There will not be two chapters in book six titled "Lupin's Papers" and "The Lovegoods in Court."
- An excerpt from HBP: "He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp."
- More characters will die in book six.
- Three chapter titles from the Half-Blood Prince: "Spinners End" (Chap. 2), "Draco's Detour" (Chap. 6), and "Felix Felicis" (Chap. 14)
- Neville and Luna will not form a relationship with each other.
- Harry's shortened stay at the Dursley's (see below) will not result from another court case - rather, he will be leaving for "a much pleasanter reason."

From August 2004 Edinburgh Book Festival:
- Grawp will become more controllable in the sixth book.
- There will be a new character called McClaggan.
- We will see a bit more of Rita Skeeter.
- Petunia Dursley is not a Squib, as she is a muggle, but there is more to Petunia than what meets the eye - we will find out what that is.
- Life gets "quite tough" for most of the characters, especially Harry.
- We will see more of Blaise Zabini, who was recently confirmed as male.
- Dudley Dursley is not the Half Blood Prince.
- Professor Lockhart will not appear in future books.

From March 2004 World Book Day Chat:
- We'll find out more about Peter Pettigrew and what happened to him.
- Harry will tell his nearest and dearest about the propechy when he's ready.
- The wizarding world is really at war again, and Harry has to master his own feelings to make himself useful.
- Muggles are noticing more and more odd happenings now that Voldemort has returned.
- We will find out more about the circumstances of Voldemort's birth.
- Tonks and Moaning Myrtle will be back.
- Harry won't stay with the Dursleys all summer; in fact, he will have his shortest stay yet.
- We'll see more of Narcissa Malfoy.
- Hermione and Draco will not date (duh...)
- We'll find out more about the relationship between Snape and Sirius in their Hogwarts days.
- Harry won't get back together with Cho Chang.
- Winky will never be in the same state she was prior to the events of Goblet of Fire.
- We will find out more about Grawp, the giant (Hagrid's half-brother).
- There will be a new Minister of Magic.

Meh dunno if u know all that or not but...meh :P
