Title: Class Trip!

Professor Rogue - March 13, 2008 06:36 AM (GMT)
Today's my mom's birthday, so I thought it would be a great time to let you all in on something we're going to be planning. Every school has class trips, and our school is no difference. So, as of right now, I'm planning the class trip to be in May, but that's subject to change.

Our trip can be anywhere in the world. Mexico, Hawaii, Paris...be creative! Right now, I'll need your help in choosing the location. It will be a one-week trip, the entire school is invited so it's sure to be tons of fun.

Now, in doing this, each house will be responsible for raising their share of the money to attend. Each house should have already, or is going to have a House Treasure, where your prfect will keep track of how much money your house has. A lot of members are rich (like me!) so I don't want one person to donate a large sum of money and that be it. No. I want you all to work for this by putting on bake sales, putting on events, whatever your minds can think of as a way to raise the money. So as of right now, you have 2 months to raise this money.

Once I have the location, I can calculate about how much money your house will need. What I need from you right now is:

A.) Feedback - what do you think of this idea?

B.) Where would you like to go?

dreamdancer7699 - March 13, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
Happy birthday Reggie's mom! :-D Well I know that last year when there was talk of a house trip, the Gryffyz had voted to go to Greece. They might have changed their minds but that is still my vote. How exciting!

ladeeknight - March 13, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
Wow Dream sometimes it scares me how much we think alike. I pick Greece as well. Furthermore I will volunteer space and supplies in Madam Padfoots’ to sponsor a bake sale. Anyone who wants to put it on just pm me.

Sardine - March 13, 2008 03:31 PM (GMT)
Happy Birthday.

One small snag that we have in every plan; members, or lack thereof. Hufflepuff is pretty much dead. Nothing is going to get members, unless we offer each member $100 or something.

ladeeknight - March 13, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
well Sardine we are all in this together. :) less huff members means less money you have to raise. and i have offered a way for you to make money off members that are not from your house. and actually this i will go further than that. since i make fifty percent of whatever is spent at Madam Padfoots' so i will donate half of that to the trip fund. That's right folks you heard it here first: 25% of what ever you spend at Madam Padfoots' will go toward our school trip. I challenge other shop keepers to pitch in too.

Emma Potter - March 13, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Happy Birthday to your mom! :bday:

I think this is an awesome idea, and that we should go somewhere like the Bahamas. I luv it there! People can go snorkling, shopping, tanning, swimming, swimming with stringrays, go to the beach, go to restaurants etc. Or could we do a cruise to somewhere because that would be cool!

Sardine - March 14, 2008 04:11 PM (GMT)
Have fun.

sailorleo - March 14, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
oh come on Sardine, no one's going to leave you behind. I'll imperius you if i have to....but i sorta want to go to like the Caribbean or maybe even hawaii

dreamdancer7699 - March 15, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
It's always so nice when it it rains during parades. Gotta love those. Hey Em, Greece is pretty tropical too I think. :P I've been to the Bahamas though, and it's awesome! So it's a great consolation prize if we ended up with that. Still think Greece would be better though.

hermionegrangerknockoff1 - March 15, 2008 01:31 AM (GMT)
i think italy is awesome...
and happy b-day to your mom prof. rogue!
we have LOADS of slythy members, so i am sure we won't have much of a problem there. ;)
who votes for italy? it is rather close to greece.

Sardine - March 15, 2008 08:34 AM (GMT)
I'm good, thanks.

CassieWink - March 16, 2008 02:40 AM (GMT)
DISNEY WORLD

REMY-SALINAS - March 17, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
I don't really have just one favorite place so anywhere we go will be just fine with me.

CassieWink - March 18, 2008 03:02 AM (GMT)
DISNEY WORLDDDD

Sardine - March 18, 2008 02:57 PM (GMT)
Yes Cassie, but which one? The one in the US, or the one in Paris/France?

doratheauror - March 18, 2008 08:11 PM (GMT)
*Raises hand and jumps up and down* GREECE GREECE GREECE!

Dana Lynn - March 18, 2008 11:29 PM (GMT)
I agree with going to Greece! I have been ready ever since we were going to go last time! I even have an avatar made for my siggy with my character dressed in the Greece theme. Please lets do Greece!

Professor Rogue - March 19, 2008 10:55 AM (GMT)
Sardine, not having that many members will not hinder you from going on this trip. You can use the people that you have, even if it's two peopl. You two can put on a sale, or some type of function to raise money.

Oh and I told my mom that you guys wished her a happy birthday and she's like, "Tell them thank you!" ha ha.

I actually luv Emma's ideas about going to the Bahamas, or Hawaii! Talking about "Fun in the Sun" that would be a great theme! Just picture it, barbecues, voleeyball, surficng, snoggling...we could have a tour or something.. and maybe even discover a mystery or something while we're there. But that's just me.

So far here are the ideal locations that I'm hearing:

Greece
Bahamams
Caribbean
Hawaii

Is that it? And Cassie were you serious about Disneyworld?

Sardine - March 19, 2008 11:23 AM (GMT)
Nah, I don't want to go. The RP's get too busy, then I get bored. And I find private RP's to be kind of pointless.

I'll donate money to the Slytherin's or any Hufflepuff's that want to go.

sailorleo - March 19, 2008 11:34 AM (GMT)
well sorry for our botherness...*blinks*

wow, was it like attack of the gryffies since i last posted this?

and since im putting good money that we're going to Greece, I'm gonna have to start watching that Traveling Pants movie and whatnot...

ladeeknight - March 19, 2008 05:18 PM (GMT)
Rogue we can do all that fun stuff you mentioned in Greece too :) , plus we can explore ancient ruins. Talk about finding a mystery. Maybe we’ll run into a medusa or a minotaur. Plus Dana Lynn already has an outfit. Ok I know that is not a great reason, but I just wanted to remind everyone that there are beautiful beaches in Greece too.

And Leo you should read that book anyway. I am going to listen to it book on tape soon and we can talk about it.

doratheauror - March 20, 2008 01:36 PM (GMT)
Scarlett is soooo right, have I ever mentioned how smart she is? :P GREECE GREECE GREECE

Emma Potter - March 20, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
OMG..Cass I luv you girl! I think Disney World in Florida would be pretty sweet. Has anyone ever seen the Full House episode when they go to Disney World and Micheal gets lost, and gives Stephanie the crown? I loved those two episodes!

But, since Scarlett is trying to sell us on Greece, I need to try to sell you guys on the Bahamaas. So let me put is this way, for all of our surfers, there are tons of beaches. Second, there are tons of stores...and now I am going to side track to a new idea I just thought of.

Why can't we go to Bermuda! I just went there for vacation a year ago and it is soooo...beautiful! All of the houses are so pretty and different pastal colors. The streets are lined with shops and bars and restaurants and tons of other stores. There is a ton of history there. There are old churches, and a fort. We could all probably have a ton of fun at the fort and re-play the war..except with wands! :P
The beaches are beautiful, and the best part is that there arent a ton of crabs. (I hate crabs)

Or

We could go to the Keys, I have been there too..and they have the best key lime pie. Or we could go to Mexico. The have ruines there...or omg...WE COULD GO TO EGYPT!!! We could explore all of the pyramids.....OMG I SO VOTE EGYPT!!!!

:celebrate:

CassieWink - March 20, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
RAWR~ RAWR TO ALL OF YOU! DISNEY WORLD!

Lets see... Disney World! Well I would love to ride all of the rides. The rides are so much fun and there are FOUR theme parks.

Then there are the water parks full of rides for us to go on and wave pools to go in and beachy stuffs,

Then there are all of the restauarnst and it is rele rele fun!

Professor Rogue - March 21, 2008 06:17 AM (GMT)
Disney world would be fun, I admit, but I think we can do more at a remote location. With all the rides and stuff, that's it. With anywhere else, we could be creative and come up with more interesting rp's and stuff.

Sardine, yes, everyone will be going, but this is a "week" long event. You'll still be able to have private rp's if you want.

As for the Bahamas, I'm with Emma. There's surfing, beaches, really warm weather and I dunno, it just seems so much like a typical vacation. I did a little research here, check it out!

Egypt would be fun too! But I like the Bermuda as well...decisions, decisions...let's keep the discussoin going. Tell me what you like, dislike, etc. :)

hermionegrangerknockoff1 - March 21, 2008 01:43 PM (GMT)
Sabrina doesn't mind where we go cuz she has traveled with her mom and dad everywhere.

but disney world is in florida
disney land is in california and there's one in france, one in tokyo, and yeah... disney is kinda boring for me. cuz i've been there. lines are too long... too many people...
(do you see my point?)

Prof. Rogue you are right about the remote thing. we shouldn't go to an out in the open place. We should explore an unchared island (do those even exist anymore? cuz if they do, that'd be cool), or maybe go to ITALY cuz it's so close to Greece.

Or we could go to IRELAND or FRANCE. Anywhere is fine for Sab.
[Personally, I've never been outisde the country so... my imagination is limited here.]

And yes Emma, I did see that Full-house episode! DJ was seeing Steve everywhere and Michelle got lost! it was such a good episode! and it had 2 PARTS! aweseome.

I didn't think there would be much contreversy on the subject of a vacation, but Leo, you HAVE to read the Traveling pants book. it's not as good as the movie though. i cheated and watched the movie first...

and there's three more books after the first one. I have them all! ;)

but who votes for ITALY? IRELAND? FRANCE? i don't really care where we go... as long as Sab can afford it.

and speaking of money... I really have to keep up with my valut. I should to that now!
BBL...

sailorleo - March 21, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
*screams* NO BLOODY TRAVELIN' PANTS BOOKS!!! *sheesh*...lol

but seriously, leo and dalejin went to egypt serveral times, that;ll work for me...we can run off to our hiding places....muahahhaa!!!

REMY-SALINAS - March 21, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
just a question i had are we only picking places that exist or can we name a place that does not like say for example atlantis??

hermionegrangerknockoff1 - March 21, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
Well remy, how do you know that atlantis doesn't exist? there's a question! ;)

Professor Rogue - March 22, 2008 06:27 AM (GMT)
No, they have to be real places Remy. It seems more real that way, that we're a real school, plannig to go on a trip to a real place. So yeah, a real place.

Emma Potter - March 22, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
I love France, that's why I had Emma be from there, and it is a great area sab, but I don't know if we want to vacation in France or Italy because we have a lot of characters from there. And Egypt is still my favorite place to go, because I study egytpology in real life so obvisouly I think that would be fun to RP. But, couldnt we do something more wizard like......like maybe go to the Quidtich World Cup? I think that could be fun to, and we could still use magic etc.

pyrii - April 2, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
I agree with Remy and Emma. I would think that Hogwarts would have a class trip that was a bit more... 'magical'. And NO I am not talking about Disney World. The Bahamas are a nice place for a small group to roleplay at... like the Girls Day Out thread, which kinda died, but honestly, what would the entire school DO? Not much to do on a large scale class trip.

I DO kinda like the idea of Greece, theres plenty of opportunity to see Greek magicians, and minotaurs, and go check out magical creatures like minotaurs or whatnot... and Egypt is also promising for the very same reasons... but I think we should think about alternatives.

Perhaps a jungle cruise, to learn about rare tropical and subtropical plants for potionmaking, and voodoo rituals?

A trip to the American Midwest to learn tribal magic, and explore the Grand Canyon? (with possible sidetrips to go skiing in Colorado and whitewater rafting/kayaking on the Colorado River)

Or something else. I don't feel particularly imaginative at the moment, so I may come up with better ideas later.

ladeeknight - April 2, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
I guess it sort of depends on if this is supposed to be a field trip or a class trip. On a field trip we are supposed to learn stuff. I see a class trip as more of a reward where we relax and have fun. Either one is great and we could learn stuff even on a class trip. But if this is supposed to me more like a field trip then we should definitely pick a place with some magical history like the one pyrii suggested. Still I have to say that Greece meets all our needs.

Mark_EmmaWatsonFan - April 2, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Yup Greece or Egypt for me too. They have the historical background we could explore magically, all the mythology and beast etc.

But also for people who are just wanting to go out in the hot weather and have fun they can do that there too. There might not be jungles in Egypt but theres deserts with Oasis's and we could always exadurate the size of these to suit our role playing needs!

doratheauror - April 2, 2008 11:54 PM (GMT)
GREECE GREECE GREECE!! Ok so if you can't tell by now i'm a massive Greece fan, other than England, its my dream vacation. When the olympics were there a few summers back I was ecstatic. I've even taken Greek Mythology as a general elective last semester at school. I say we do a poll with the best Magical opportunities and let the class decide :P

Dusty Dorsy - June 29, 2008 05:21 AM (GMT)
I say we do Greece, Italy, and Germany. Three Locations I kinda like that idea. i love germany and Italy is a great place and people are right it is magical lol (been in real life with a foreign Language club)

Professor Rogue - August 23, 2008 07:15 AM (GMT)
Well just to give you an update, the Class Trip is still on. I'm going to go through this entire thread and tally up the votes to see where the majority of people would like to go. :)
