Ok, so I've got one of their songs (or part of it), and decided to hunt for it on Google. Well, I got a load of Marine Corps cadences.
I think that they're spirit and dedication is awesome. It's amazing; these guys could die in a week, but they're still out there training, singing and having a good time. I just felt like posting this as a sort of a dedication to them. If someone wants to make a banner, that would be cool.
Here's the song I have. I'm not sure about the last part, but the rest is pretty accurate.
Mama Cant You See – US Marine Corps
Oh mama can’t you see
What this corp has done for me?
Put me in a barber’s chair
Snip, snap an’ I had no hair.
An’ if I die in a combat zone;
Box me up an’ ship me home.
Put me in a set of dress-blues
Comb my hair and shine my shoes
Pin my medals upon my chest
Tell my mama I did my best.
My mama, don’t you cry;
Marine Cor’ motto is “Do or die”.
Say lo, right lay-o
Lo, right lay-o
Low right lay-o
Now let me ride it low.
I found a site with recordings of their cadences and chants. One will find that they use the same words in a lot of their songs. Track 4,
Marine Cadences is the one posted here. Track 1,
Full Metal Jacket Cadence has drums and stuff. You can also find videos of them marching and such on YouTube.
Marine Corps CadencesI don't know if anyone else is interested in this sort of thing. I guess I'm interested in it because I want to join the airforce (SAAF, but I'd much prefer the RAF [British or Australian]). So yeah, I'm really into this military stuff.
