The Hastilude, or Tourney, was a festival of martial games held in medieval times. The most widely known of these games today--and it is still practiced--is tilting, or the joust.
I know there's already a dueling club, but this would be a bit more... organised.
We coould have a thread for wand duels, where each pair of students gets five posts, and Professor Rogue, or another officiator judges the winner.
The joust would be broom mounted, of course. Three passes is customary, with a point awarded for each blow to the opponent's torso. If both riders remain mounted, the one with the most points wins, while knocking your opponent off their broom is an automatic win.
Of course, there would be more than just dueling and jousting. Prizes could be awarded for practicaly any display of wizarding skill:
- Best potion. -- You'd have to show your recipie, with instructions. Mark would make a fine judge.
- Most impressive use of charms. -- Lift the giant squid out of the lake with a hovering charm. Make the Headmaster disappear with a disillusionment charm. Be creative.
- Care of Magical Creatures -- Let's see who can milk an acromantula without getting bit, or last 8 seconds in a saddle on the back of a blast-ended skrewt.
Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley shops could sponsor events, donate prizes, as well as hock their wares. And those who survive could top the festival off with a feast in honor of those who... well, don't.
