Title: Hastiludes
Description: fun and insanely dangerous!

The Hastilude, or Tourney, was a festival of martial games held in medieval times. The most widely known of these games today--and it is still practiced--is tilting, or the joust.

I know there's already a dueling club, but this would be a bit more... organised.

We coould have a thread for wand duels, where each pair of students gets five posts, and Professor Rogue, or another officiator judges the winner.

The joust would be broom mounted, of course. Three passes is customary, with a point awarded for each blow to the opponent's torso. If both riders remain mounted, the one with the most points wins, while knocking your opponent off their broom is an automatic win.

Of course, there would be more than just dueling and jousting. Prizes could be awarded for practicaly any display of wizarding skill:
  • Best potion. -- You'd have to show your recipie, with instructions. Mark would make a fine judge.
  • Most impressive use of charms. -- Lift the giant squid out of the lake with a hovering charm. Make the Headmaster disappear with a disillusionment charm. Be creative.
  • Care of Magical Creatures -- Let's see who can milk an acromantula without getting bit, or last 8 seconds in a saddle on the back of a blast-ended skrewt.
Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley shops could sponsor events, donate prizes, as well as hock their wares. And those who survive could top the festival off with a feast in honor of those who... well, don't.

this sounds like fun sil i especially like the jousting idea that you had as it gives me something new to do on my broom :)

Well I'm glad to see at least someone has a sense of adventure. I guess the whole idea of a broom mounted joust is just too scary for everyone other than me and Remy, Gryffindors included. :P

It all sounds good to me. I'd love to kick all your butt's at jousting and as the owner of Quality Quidditch Supplies i could come up with some sort of prize for the winner. Also if you want me to judge the potions comp, i could brew up a rare potion for the winner to use in a thread?
Whatever the plan; im game!

Sil, I practically live on the Quidditch Pitch.

And while the ideas are great, I fear that these things will fizzle out... I say this because it happens all the time. Look at the dueling, the Quidditch, the club rooms, the classes, etc.
I do like your ideas though.

Interesting ideas Sil, but Sardine DOES have a point. If it could be arranged like a special event forum like the Winter Wonderland thingy, it could work out well.

Also, Sardine, I AM trying to at least get one club up and running. I can't do it alone though, so feel free by posting! :P

I've been posting, Erin!
I was just out during the weekend because I got my wisdom teeth taken out. And now I've missed nearly a week of school so I might not be on tomorrow and Friday, but I'm still posting.
