Please select one of the choices, saying which Harry Potter Book you like the most. Then reply to this thread and say why it's your favorite one. Just so everyone know's my favorite Harry Potter Book is: Harry Potter And The Deatlhy Hallows.

That is one of those things that are hard for me to decide. But I believe my favorite is... OOTP. Because it had the least ammount of my favorite people dead^^ But I also think that DH closes well and that even though people die, it kind of has to happen. If some of these people lived then it wouldn't be as good... <<Is happy with OOTP and DH!

So which one did you vote for? I voted for Deathly Hallows. I love that one so much.
Shonk Da 'Onk - June 26, 2008 07:20 AM (GMT)
Wow people really like DH. I perosnally found it to be one of the worst considering storyline, though I think it was the best written one.
I chose CoS for the sake that it was my favourite when I was a kid, though the only reason I seemed to like it the most was because I have always had an obsession with snakes and well . . . you should know the storyline :P

I'm conflicted
I like SS, because I love a good origin story....*harry's at least*
I like Goblet of Fire because of the plot....the maze was uber cool
and i think DH had the most heart, even if it was pulling you to pieces...

I also really liked HBP for the main reason that for the first time in the Harry Potter series I was really able to relate to the characters. They finally started to act a bit more like teenagers seem to. Snogging, b**ching, fighting etc.
Even Harry's view that Malfoy was a DE and up to something is somewhat iconic to teenage personas with the whole everyone out to get me way of looking at things (though with Harry I guess it's actually true)

I know I'm kinda late on this post but oh well!
My favorite books are PoA and DH. I like PoA because it's not so much about Harry vs. Voldy. You really learn a lot about Harry's family and his past. It's different from the usual story line leading up to the big showdown with Voldy at the end. I like DH just because it kept me guessing and I couldn't put it down for even a second. It was bittersweet but I like that all of the loose ends were tied up even if it was heart-wrenching!
Sardine - July 9, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
In my opinion, DH was horrible! I've read fanfiction better than it. Unfortunately, the movies spoiled the books (for me at least). I really enjoyed PoA, but the movie sucked, so now I don't like the book as much. Same for OotP; good book and a movie that could be much better.
I think I voted for GoF, but again the book-movie problem.
:(
kimberlyjane - July 9, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
I agree that the PoA movie was awful. I came out of the theater thinking "Did Alfonso Curon even read the book?" The worst part is they play it on ABC Family all the time. I don't let that affect my love of the book though. The movies will always screw it up, but that doesn't change the book content. :(

Deathly Hallows is my favourite one because it's so sad but still so funny. And I love the surprises that come along the way. I get so intense when I read a book, that it's almost like the things would be happening right next to me 'cause I can almost feel them. You know what I mean.
Luna~BewareoftheNargles - August 4, 2008 01:23 PM (GMT)
Hey!
I voted HBP...not quite sure why, but I know how much I enjoyed reading it.
It's not really my favourite because I like it just as much as DH, OotP,PoA and PS.
It's easier to say my least favourite : ... Chamber of Secrets. Not because I think it's the worst, because I love the story and general plot in it...I just didn't enjoy reading it as much as some of the others.
And as for GoF, I don't know. But after reading it at least 15 times, I can't deny I was getting bored of that.
Ez-Bake oven - August 5, 2008 12:44 AM (GMT)
ok so i voted the 1st one cuz it was the start... if it werent for that one we wouldnt have the rest of them... I cant pick just one favorite... but the DH was amazing! but i love each one for their own reasons
Sardine - August 5, 2008 05:35 PM (GMT)
Good point you have there, Gerdy (about the first book). And the movie wasn't too bad. I think Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and the Order of the Phoenix were good books... but only movies one and two were good.
Henry Bridge - August 6, 2008 01:27 AM (GMT)
I personally LOVE ALL the books and movies. I like the 7th book the most. I like all the books and the movies, because I'm ubssessed with movies and books. Haha.
Ez-Bake oven - August 6, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
yeah... I really dont like how the movies are turning out anymore... the irst two were great and i think the most like the books but the rest are just getting worse as people try to make them their own... then they become less harry potter to me and they do little things that make all the difference to me like the color of a dress or who gets the gillyweed or finds the ROR. That kind of stuff just recks it for me. But i still see the movies in theater and buy them and get the soundtacks just cuz i love the harry potter books and the world so much.
jennieweasley - September 4, 2008 07:22 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry I know you said to pik only one bt i really can't.. i mean I voted for PA because it was the first introduction to sirius and its the begining of finding out more info about his parents and lord V but I really hated having to choose because I LOOOOVE all the books. I love reading them all and watching harry and jk rowling grow. I love how there are tiny little details you find irrelevant bt come back arnd and prove themselves to be relevant. I just love all the books.
Hate the movies tho.
I walked out 15 mins into the 1sht movie and haven't seen one since
Henry Bridge - September 6, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)
How do you walk out of the harry potter movies?! They are the best movie! And they're better than the books. Both are really good though!
Sardine - September 6, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
You know why the first two movies were so great? It's because Chris Columbus directed both of them.. there wasn't any of this bull with a new director for every movie.
And I've just finished re-reading HBP and I've started DH, and JK's writing style is actually pathetic. I think her grammar useage could be loads better.
Henry Bridge - October 3, 2008 09:14 PM (GMT)
Wow, I don't see why you go on this website Sardine. You complain about Harry Potter a lot. I'm not trying to be mean but, you're oviosuly not a real Harry Potter fan. Deathly Hallows is the best book. What's really pathetic is, that you think the books patheic becasue of he grammar. Wow. I'm reading the 7th book now for the 3rd time, and it's anything but pathetic.
Also, the first 2 were probably the worst ones, not surprised you like them the most though. I like them a lot too, because I love them all. I just like the other one's more. Who really cares if there's a new dirrector for each one?! That just makes things better, and more interesting. Duh!
Shonk Da 'Onk - October 12, 2008 09:22 AM (GMT)
Now, now Henry everyone is entitled to their opinion. You don't have to like everything about something to be a fan.
I actually agree about the writing style and such. DH I actually really enjoyed, I honestly thought the storyline was kinda predictable but compared to the previous books her writing style had changed and felt it was more mature then her previous ones. When considering her style though one has to remember who she was writing for . . . she originally wrote for teenagers but it was children that really loved her books so one can hardly write in such a way that those who are reading them can't understand.
Writing myself it is actually really annoying to write for younger audiences because you have to be very strict on the language you use. I love big long qords that people don't usually use but I can't use them :( Makes me sad.
As for the movies . . . I see them for the special effects and that's it. If they look pretty then I'll be happy.

Shonks is right Henry. This post is completely ridiculous and is member bashing. If Sardine doesn't like the writing style, that's completley her opinion. If you disagree with her, do so in a friendly manner, but you have stepped way over the line. You've been warned about this before, keep it up and we're moving on to a suspension.
Getting back on topic, I agree about the writing style. DH I really loved, I felt the pace was right on, a bit predictable for me, just a tad, but tons of surprises to keep me reading. The one book that really got on my nerves I'd have to say is Ootp. Waay to much about Gulp, or whatever Hagrid's brother name. That one and a bit in HBP I felt that the pace was a little off and it was bluntly obvious that she was keeping secrets from the reader purposely. In the other books, I felt that she did this, but it was much more settled.
Shonk Da 'Onk - October 13, 2008 08:05 AM (GMT)
I actually really liked HBP. It was so random most of the time . . . with the main plotting ebbing along real slowly while most of the book was just filled with Ron and Hermione being idiots and Harry's crazed obsessing over Malfoy. It was just fun even if it were a little odd at times.
