Title: Orion
doratheauror - January 13, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
Melie walked into the owlery with her new owl, a grey Great Horned owl that Remy and Dream had given to her for Christmas.
"Well here we are Orion, your home while we're here," Melie told the owl, his great big amber eyes taking in the other owls. He looked at Melie and hooted. "I know you like it in the dorms, but we've already got loads of pets in our room, plus here you're with other owls! It'll be fun, I promise." She set his cage down and opened the door so he could leave but when he didn't budge Melie sighed. It figures Dream would get her another pet that was stubborn, Gigi was bad enough, she didn't need and owl that didn't listen. "Come on, no need to sulk!" Melie exclaimed as she pulled out a bag of owl treats and shook it so Orion would leave the cage. He looked at her expectantly and gave a small hoot. "Come out of the cage and I'll give you some," Melie told him and opened the bag and poured a few into her hand. Just as she expected he hopped out of the cage and flew up to her shoulder. Melie held her hand up to him and he took three of the treats and then hooted happily. "See its not going to be so bad here. You'll like it." Melie said to him and he looked around suspiciously.

Leona had walked up to the owlry to mail off a letter to Dalejin, and saw Melie playing with the new owl she got for Christmas. Leona smiled at her and called her own owl, Artemis, to her. Artemis was a female barn owl, who was very smart and independent. She didn't socialize much with the other owls, rather she observed. "I got a job for you," Leo smiled at her holding out a dead mouse her lioness cub Picard had caught earlier that day. Artemis turned her head intrigued but had a feeling she was just delivering to the same old place.

Melie turned when she heard someone come into the owlery and smiled when she saw Leo with a letter and a dead mouse. She saw Artemis trying to ignore Leo's offer of a mouse and Melie gave a small giggle.
"Hi Leo, sending a letter to Dalejin?" Melie asked her friend. She knew that Leo had missing him a lot lately, even with the short visit he had made not too long ago. Melie saw Orion watching Artemis, most likely wondering why she wasn't going for the mouse and Melie glared at him to make sure he didn't try to take it himself.

"Yeah," Leo blushed with a small smile, "he's always coming and going," Leo added which made her just love him more every time he returned. Leo played with her ring that he had given her for her birthday, suddenly it fell and Artemis at that moment took time to dive from her perch and snatch the mouse and letter, flying off into the horizon. "Sh*t," Leo cursed and dove to the floor looking for it. Finally a tiring minute later she did, and Leo noticed something new about the ring. Their was an inscription, roughly translated from Latin it meant: You make your own family. Leo smiled understanding it's meaning, the reason why Dalejin had given her his family's signet ring was finally clear. Leo blushed more wishing he was here, but then realized that Melie was in the room, "...sorry," she said softly.
Miu - January 13, 2008 05:12 AM (GMT)
Miu moved out of the great hall. She had been showing her rainbow colored owl, Rain, around for a while now and thought it would be good to let her see where she would be sleeping. Moving slowly through the castle, Rain pearched on her shoulder, she looked at all the portraits on the walls which were cussing at her yet again because of the loud clacking sound her orange boots made when they hit the ground. Moving her arm so that Rain would get off her shoulder for a moment, Miu put her orange-red hair into pigtails and adjusted the white robe over her short orange dress. Yes, it was quite safe to say that Miu fancied orange. For what reason it was quite unclear to her. As her right foot made it's way onto the first step on the way up to the owlery Rain perched on her shoulder again and the familiar clacking sound reached Miu's ears. Making her way up the stairs and noticing a few people she gave a faint smile before letting her rainbow bird fly around. After a few minutes of Rain looking at all the other birds, she came back to Miu and hooted. "Oh yeah. Your right." She said as she dug her hand into her pocket to withdraw the letter that she promised she would send. Even though she said she was only going to send one letter a month, she knew she would do more. The woman was dying after all. "You know where to go." She whispered with a smile before adding. "Off you go." Not a moment later, her bird flew off.

Melie was about to get on her knees to help Leo look for her ring when Leo had found it and was looking at something on it. Melie couldn't tell what it was but she didn't want to ask either.
"There's no reason to be sorry Leo! You didn't do anything!" Melie said with a small laugh and offered her hand to help Leo up off the floor. As she did she heard a clicking sound and turned to see a new girl with orange hair and the oddest looking owl Melie had ever seen. The bird took the letter from the girl and flew off. Melie and Orion both watched it fly away and she glanced at Orion and shrugged.
"Hi, you're new aren't you?" Melie asked the girl. "I'm Melie, and this is Leo," she said pointing at Leo with the hand she had offered Leo, "and this bugger," she pointed to the bird, "is Orion, my owl."

Miu smiled for a moment before she replied. "I'm Miu Hy- Miu Mopolis..." She corrected herself, Miu kept forgetting that when her mother was killed and she went to stay with her Aunt K she was forced to change her last name from Hyuuga to Mopolis. Pointing to the little rainbow dot that had just flown off she said. "That's Rain. Well Rain-Dance originally but I call her Rain..." She said with a sligh glance at the bird who obviously loved flying. The owl swooped upwards and then started down, only to end up going straight again. I hope that old witch gets at least one visit from her old owl before she dies... Miu thought before looking back at the girls.

"Hi Miu," Leo said addressing the new girl, rumor has it you've been razing hell for little Henry," Leo said with a snicker as she extended her hand, "you're okay in my book kid," she said with a smile, "but seriously, if he gives you any problems, let me know, and I'll handle it," she said tossing her pink hair.
Miu - January 14, 2008 06:53 AM (GMT)
Miu gave a slight smile and took the hand in a shake. "Thanks. But honestly I can't get anywhere near him without him running. He'll see me and he'll vanish..." She said with a shrug. She didn't know if he wanted everyone here to know the whole story, heck he didn't even know the whole story, but she would at least give him the chance to tell people himself before she went budding in. "Either way, he'll have to see me sometime. And I'll corner him when that happens. Let him sweat a bit first though..." She said with a shrug. Honestly, she didn't have much to say to him but the fact that she couldn't say the one thing he wasn't expecting her to want to say vexed her some.

Melie gave a small laugh at Miu and her predicament with Henry. She didnt know what was the story between those two but she knew that if Henry was involved, chances were it wasnt very good. Melie looked at Orion to see if he was more comfortable with his surroundings but he still didn't look to convinced.
"Look Orion, I know you would rather sleep in the castle but you're not allowed," Melie said to him. "There are other owls here too, Dream's owl Blizzy is here, and so is Marks' owl Toffee. And you just met Artmeis and another new owl, you'll like it, I promise!" Melie begged with the owl. Melie couldn't believe she was begging a bird, she was scared of birds and kept looking around warily to make sure the other owls were behaving. Melie pulled another treat out for Orion, and held it in the palm of her hand and he leaned forward and picked it up gently and ate it, but still refused to fly off her shoulder and Melie just sighed.
