Title: 2008/New Term Wish List

Professor Rogue - December 27, 2007 10:38 AM (GMT)
Several students have thrown out ideas of activites/events that they'd like to do. So I thought it would be appropiate to open this up to anything. So tell me what you want to see here at the LC this new term. Was there something that we did this year that you really liked and hope that we do it again? Or do you have a brand new idea of something you'd like to see happen here?

List your ideas here. :P

Lexi Fox - December 27, 2007 05:54 PM (GMT)
Yule Ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We SO need one! ^_^

smc - December 27, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
I say we do a Yule Ball when we don't have a holiday so we can have a dance on a off time. We are about to have a Christmas Dance, so I say not this month. Why not in Jan. and make it formal wear only like the movie. Then, for Feb. we come up with something diffrent for Valintines Day. You know something other than a dance. I don't know what, but just something fun and diffrent to mix it up a little. Maybe a thread for speed dating our characters or I don't know something neat and creative. :P

I would like to take classes. I wouldn't mind teaching one either if you are short teachers. Also I noticed that everyone puts divination as their worst subject, but we don't offer it. I would love to teach it.

hot - December 27, 2007 07:40 PM (GMT)
Oh! I would sooo take Divination if it were a possibility!!! Especially if Scarlett were teaching it!!! ^_^
I think it'd be great to have some kind of dance at some point. That'd be fun. Shopping, yay!!

Emma Potter - December 27, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
I think it would be awesome to have a transfiguration class!

CassieWink - December 27, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
I think that we should have RANDOM DANCING alarms to keep me happy...and since I'm gonna rule the world one day. My happiness is VERY important

(THANKS iCARLY

*rolls eyes*
Wow that wass... out there Cassie.......

On a less weirded out note. I'm going with Emma in saying we should have Transfiguration as a class. :naughty:

ladeeknight - December 28, 2007 03:07 AM (GMT)
Thanks Emilie, I would like to have you for a student. And I would also like to take a transfiguration class. Especially if it was taught by someone who could change their appearance at will. :)

Emma Potter - December 28, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
Yea, people actually listen and support me. It's a first! LOL, just kidding. But yea Cassie, that was pretty random, and if you are going to rule the world some day, I think I might have to move to the moon or some other planet. :P

I also think it would be pretty darn cool to have a quidtich class. :qudditch:

Lexi Fox - December 28, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
(Cassie, remember the dance alarm? ;) )
Quidditch class sounds great!

CassieWink - December 28, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
I think we should have an astronomy tower. And an astronomy class and i think it would be good. But the tower cou,ld also be used for...other purposes *wink*

Lethal Ink - January 2, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
I want to echo the call for Divination and Transfiguration classes as well as Care of Magical Creatures and (broom) flying lessons. But especially Divination I need Divination class! Perhaps Alchemy also.

And finally--and yes, this is a shameless attempt to increase sales--I think the Student Standard Postion Making Kit (available at Slugs & Jigger's Apothecary in Diagon Alley) should be required for Potions class.

sailorleo - January 2, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
omg, i would SOOOOOOOO love to teach astronomy!!!!!!!! i adore it! *jumps up and down!!!!!!!!!!!!*

doratheauror - January 2, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
I think any classes would be great! none of them seem to be active right now really tho :(

sailorleo - January 2, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
well that's due in part of the quidditch game and winterfest....when the activities start to slow up, and make room for classes, I'm sure we can squeeze in a couple lessons...If it's ok with rogue and all.

ladeeknight - January 15, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
Dang if I had known I was choosing between classes and a party… Dang this makes me sound ancient, but I would have chosen the classes. Let’s try to remember that come Valentine’s Day and everyone wants a dance.

Mark_EmmaWatsonFan - January 16, 2008 12:20 AM (GMT)
Yeah, when the quidditch game and winterfest stuff finishes i'd love to start up lessons again. and the good thing is that we still have pretty much all of the professors still active and lots of new faces to teach to, i think it would be a good time to do it with with all the new members on the site now who didnt get a chance the first time round.

pyrii - January 16, 2008 05:29 PM (GMT)
I'm open for a teaching position. I ALMOST got DADA, but unfortunately I had to leave the LC for awhile when classes were starting, and missed my chance at it.

But a suggestion as far as classed goes. I think we should have people teach only ONE subject, unless we NEED a teacher. We also need people assigned as subsitutes, in case someone leaves for awhile...

We should also have people's teaching assignments be updated before each term, so that people can change the class they teach, or a no-show can be replaced officially if they can no longer hold a position. I love the ideas of introducing some new classrooms, such as Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, Flying lessons, Transfiguration etc.

As for other events.

I think we should all go camping again (as I missed out last time), and we should have a more active house cup competition. Possibly a Ravenclaw Hufflepuff Quidditch match, if we can at least field 4 people per team. (which is enough, because the ONLY house with several religiously active members is Gryffindor, and Slytherin is holding on okay with just me and Remy thus far.)

I agree with everyone who says we should have a Yule Ball and such, even though all the dances often mean alot of dateless girls.

Perhaps to remedy this we should try finding another roleplaying site or two to partner up with, which might increase our userbase. One site I am thinking of in particular is Dreams of Twilight, a fansite devoted to the anime Read or Die. Alot of the people there are literate, but the site doesn't concentrate on Roleplay all that much. I know that a decent amount of them DO like Harry Potter though from my time on the site, and the time that Purr spent there.

For general LC forum ideas... I think we should try to come to a compromise on the issue of signature length. Only getting one banner per person is a bit harsh, but having 4-5 with multiple avatar sized pics type and spoilers is just ridiculous.

I also think that, if nobody minds, could we enable post count for the Great Hall? 80-90% of the threads there are in charactr roleplays, and I don't know why it doesn't count. But if there is some reason, then leave it how is I suppose.

Geez Erin, all of these ideas. Have I ever told you how much I reallly like you?

Anyways, you bring up several reallyl good points. Yes, when classes do start, we'll have to have a TA (Teaching Assistant) who will take over the class, if the teacher leaves or whatnot. I tried to do it this time, but I'd like to have the professors have there lessons at least one class in advanced, so that if they do, for whatever reason leave, at least we'd havve the lesson that they were going to teach, already posted. Then the TA could just carry on the rest of that lesson.

I'd love to introduce some other classes that we don't normally have.

We can have a Yule Ball, perhaps in March.

Having a dance or something where we involved another site, might work. It would defanitly increase our membership, but also give us a chance to meet a new school.

The reason I didn't turn post count on is #1: Most of the Great Hall was spam, which was kind of okay. #2: There are a lot of boards where post count, is on. But I'll take a look at it to see.

Why thank you Professor Rogue. I used to administer my own roleplaying forum site. Had it up for like 2 years. Nothing near as big as the LC, only like 70 members and a couple K posts.

But yes! New classes and such! I hope that I make the cut for at least a TA position with all the new classes, and we should see if there is a Durmstrang roleplay site... or Beauxbatons. If all else fails, I could set one up on my shared server. God only knows how much unused bandwidth I am paying for.
