Title: Dying Colors
Emma Potter - December 12, 2007 02:24 AM (GMT)
Emma felt her body being lifted up into the air, and being laid down softly on a bed. She could hear voices around her, but felt trapped inside her own body. She didnt know if she was unconcious or what..but her eyes were closed and her breathing was shallow.
She could feel pain in both of her legs, and almost felt like blood was running down them. "What was the last thing I did?" she asked herself in her head. "Ah..yes..I was swimming..with Mark..I think..and maybe Jo!" she added excitedly, hoping she was figuring something out. She couldnt remember anything after that.
.."But wait, when I brought my head up from out of the water, Jo shrieked, saying my face was different color. she thought to herself recalling the worried look on her face. "Maybe I am losing my powers..maybe I am sick..I think Jo shouted "she is dying!"..maybe that is what is happening to me!" she thought to herself, feeling her body quickly flail and then come to a slow rest..

Jojo hurried in, Emma floating in front of her as Jo brought her in the Hospital Wing by her wand. Laying Jo down quickly on the nearest empty bed, Jo looked around wildly, her eyes full of fear.
Jo was still soaking wet, having brought Emma straight from the water. Drying Em off with her wand, but not bothering to do so for herself, her feet made a squeaky sound with every step she took.
"Emma... Why were you so stupid?" she moaned, still looking around.
"Alfie?" she said loudly, her voice shaking.

Hearing Jo, she wanted to yell out to her friend that she wasnt stupid, that it wasnt her fault, but instead when she opened her mouth the only thing that came out was a little groan of pain.
In her head, she was beginning to freak out, she could remember things about herself, but she couldnt remember the specific memories. She couldnt remember her mother's or father's death, she couldnt remember going to the ball with Mark. She knew it had all happened, but the descriptive scenes of all those events came out blurry in her head. Maybe I am losing my memory. Or maybe I had a concussion under the water or someone put a spell on me, but that wouldnt explain loss of control over my powers. she said to herself in her brain, wishing Mark was standing beside her.
Where is he? she wondered, hoping Alfie would also show up, knowing the cause or reason for all of these things happening to her.

Her head whirling around to watch Emma carefully when she let out a small moan, the things that had happened earlier rushed through Jo's head.
Mark, Emma, and herself had met up to go swimming in the lake...
Emma, somehow overestimating the depth of a certain part in the lake, had dived out of a tree right into the water, and bashed her head on a rock in the water.
Jo, knowing something had gone wrong when Emma didn't emerge after a few minutes, had dived in after her just in time to see a dark creature swimming away into the seaweed, and Emma sinking slowly to the bottom, blood trickling out of both legs.
Jo had of course brought her to the hospital wing right away, and wondered where Alfie was.

"Emma dont!" Mark yelled, but it was too late. He had been stood underneath the tree Emma had dived from and knew that the water there was going to be too shallow. She dived anyway and hit her head on one of the rocks in the shallow waters. Instinctively he had dived in straight after her and had seen the strange black creature swimming away from his girlfriend as Jo rescued her from drowning. "You take her up to the nurse, i'll see what that thing was!" he said hurriedly gesturing towards the water dwelling creature that was escaping as he spoke.
He leaned over and kissed Emma on her forehead before diving into the water again to see what the creature was and what it had done to Emma. As Jo hurried off to the hospital Mark followed the sleek dark figure under water. It came to a halt just infront of a tiny hole in a rock which lead to a cave, it turned towards him and smiled wickedly before dissapearing intot the tiny hole, which was much to small for Mark to follow into. He did manage to get a good look at the creature as it turned though and he recognised it as an Adaro, he has recently seen one in a DADA textbook. He surfaced again and sprinted up to the hospital wing to meet with Emma and Jo.
Emma was still unconcious and there was no nurse there yet. Mark ran to Emma's side and grabbed her hand. "Has she woken up yet?" he asked Jojo glancing around for any sign of a nurse. "I saw the creature that was near her at the time, it was an Adaro. Evil merpeople spirits who steal humans memories for their own." he told her as his eyes moved back down to meet Emma. "She must still be concust from the accident too." he suggested, wondering why else she would still be unconcious.

Emma smiled to herself when she heard Mark's voice. She knew she was safe. As long as he was with her, she was safe. As long as he was with her, she was happy. The pain in her legs was still there but she was trying to be strong by ignoring it.
All of the sudden, she had a huge headache and several memories came back to her, horrible memories, memories she did not want back. They were of her mother and father fighting, and her father throwing a beer bottle into a mirror and chattering it. Then she saw her mother's white dead face in the casket, the only time she had ever really seen her mother at peace.
Why couldnt I have had happier memories about my friends come back! she wondered in her head, getting slightly angry which she was sure was changing her appearence. Her hair probably turned red or orange, just like it did when she first started trying to tame her powers, and now after all of that work of controling them, she had lost control again. Becoming more mad at herself, she thrashed around in the sick bed in the hospital wing, making the bleeding in her legs worse..

Jojo nodded and smiled at Mark as he came in, immediately taking Emma's hand.
"Well, nothing so bad yet..." she said, and listened as Mark explained that the creature was an Adaro.
"Dang!" she said loudly, looking down at her friend, full of worry.
Emma began to thrash around, her hair suddenly a bright orange.
Now seriously alarmed, Jo tried to soothe her.
"Em! Em, it's okay, calm down, we're here, everything's fine... Just lie still, you'll be okay, Em, we're here..."
Looking over at Mark, she muttered to him so Emma couldn't hear, "This isn't good... She's never lost control of her powers before... What's happening? I thought Adaro's only take memories!"

Mark looked on worriedly as Emma squirmed and her legs began to bleed worse than ever. Since there was still no nurse to be seen he grabbed the bed sheet off of a nearby empty bed and ripped it into strips. He tied them tightly round the bleeding area's on Emma's legs. "Sorry if that hurts but it's gonna really slow down the blood loss untill the nurse gets here!" Mark said squeezing her hand reassuringly.
Mark then heard Jojo say that Adaro's usually only take memories. "Yeah your right, maybe it has something to do with the hit to her head. There has to be a part of the brain designated to metamorphis right?!" he speculated with a shrug of his shoulders.

Emma moved slightly when Mark wrapped her legs up, not liking the feeling of her legs being stiff.
Open them... she said to herself,
Just open your eyes! One second so they know you are there! she added, focusing all of her strength to changing her features back.
Knowing that her features were now back to normal, she took a deep breath, and opened her eyes as wide as they could go. Immediately, she searched for Mark's face, and found him right next to her.
Looking up into his eyes, she smiled slightly and whispered.."I'm here."
After a few seconds, she felt the immediate tiredness and confusion she had felt in the beginning. Knowing that the best way to find out what was wrong with her was to allow her memories to come back, she closed her eyes and drifted back into memory lane..
