Title: Brains for Breakfast
Description: Zombies in the Greathall.
ladeeknight - December 3, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
The "sky" over the greathall was cloudy when Scarlett had walked in. This did nothing to improve her mood. She had been in a foul mood since the weather turned and she didn't know how much more of winter she could take here in England. She began to morbidly wonder what such a dank and dreary clime must breed when the country side didn't see the sun for weeks.
Scarlett's bleak meanderings were cut short when she heard a scraping shuffle at the door. Lord above, she thought, what was that stench? Then she heard a mumbling, muttering chorus of one word. "Brains!"
Scarlett's head jerked up and she saw that the room was in chaos. Students who had been sitting close to the doors were fleeing toward the head table. Being short Scarlett could not see what was going on very well so she climbed up on the Gryffindor table. From that vantage point she could see gray shambling figures in various states of decay were staggering through the big double doors grabbing at people. One unlucky Hufflepuff had not escaped and three of the figures were scooping his brains out and feasting on them. Something inside Scarlett just snapped. This is what lurked in the rainy winters in England. A crazy idea occured to her rain sogged brain, if she killed these zombies the sum would come back. Acting on this delusion Scarlett ran down the length of the Gryffindor table dodging stacks of pancakes and bowls of cherioos and kicked the nearest inferi in the face.
It's head sailed through one of the windows raining glass down on students and monsters alike.

Liam spun away from his bowl of shredded wheat as he heard the screams pierce the air in the Great Hall. Searching out the source of the screaming he began to hear an underlying throbbing to the din, the chanting in a low monotone.
"Brains. Brains. Brains." Over and over again, and as the crowd rushed past to get out of the Great Hall he saw them. A veritable horde of Inferi, in all different states of death and decay all moving towards the other end of the Great Hall, chasing after the other students. Liam grinned. Nothing like a good life or death struggle over breakfast to get the day started. He whipped his wand out of the pocket of his jeans and noticed that one of the zombies was coming at him, charging with its clawed rotten hands out and it's jaw hanging open. He smiled and threw himself into a forward roll, coming up under the thing's arms. He lashed out with his left foot, driving it fully through the undead beast's leg, dropping it to the floor. He brought his wand up and cried "Incendio!" The thing went up in flames, filling his nostrils with the scent of burnt, rotting flesh. He nearly heaved, but kicked the corpse away from him. This wasn't nearly over after all. And there were a lot more zombies to burn.
doratheauror - December 3, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
Melie was sitting at Gryffindor's table trying to wake up with her coffee and waffles, when she heard a kind of chanting coming towards the Great Hall, she couldn't quite make out what it was being said but she thought it sounded like "Brains" but she was pretty sure that was just her trying to wake up. She took another long sip of her coffee when students started screaming and running for the door. She could hear that it was actually Brains being said and Melie turned to look at the door when she saw the Inferi coming into the room, followed by their putrid stench. Melie just groaned and put her coffee down,
"Can't we just have a normal day?" she yelled pulling out her willow wand. She then saw Scarlett running down the table and take out an Inferi sending his head through the window. Melie saw one going for a first year and she pointed her wand at him and shouted "Redcto!" and it went up in a burst of dust. "This is going to be a long day," Melie muttered as she saw more coming into the room.
Mark_EmmaWatsonFan - December 3, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
"Oh man, this just looks like a plate of..."
"Brains" interrupted a slow, monotone voice.
"Yeah! a plate of brains" Mark agreed as he prodded at his scrambled eggs with his fork. "I dunno how anyone can eat this stuff!" He lifted his head to see if there was something more appertising further down the Gryffindor table. As he moved his eyes up he was met with the horrid sight of greying, decayed inferi shuffling towards the students in the great hall.
"Oh well now thats put me right off breakfast!!" he muttered as he picked up his plate and threw it towards one of the Inferi like a frisbee. It cut clean through his neck as its lifeless body dropped to its knees. He grabbed for his wand from inside his robes. "Wingardium Leviosa!" he yelled and with a flick of his wrist he send the lifeless corpse towards a small group of the Inferi knocking them down like bowling pins. "This is almost too easy!" he said with a grin.
ladeeknight - December 3, 2007 05:51 AM (GMT)
With one inferi headless Scarlett was still only facing four others within reach of her. And reach they did. She stomped spike healed boots on the hand of one crushing its hand. She stepped back from the end of the table a bit and grabbed up one of the gold candlelabras that was on the table. The house elves had had to stary putting them out because the candles up near the ceilling were not illuminating the table enough and dreary mornings. Scarlett took a few quick steps forward and did a round off from the edge of the table, sometime being a cheerleader paid off, and landed on the other side of her attackers. She smaked on in the head with heavey candle stick and lit another on fire. The third one managed to clock her pretty good with his rooting fist. Scarlett staggered back into a fifth zombie that was coming up behind her. All she could think though was that she was happy to go down fighting for sunlight.

Sil was halfway through a rather large stack of waffles smothered in treacle and a copious amount of butter when he heard screams and saw people running away from the doors. A dull chant of "Brains!" was comming from that direction, and Sil noticed a band of inferi had somehow invaded the hall.
He looked at the his waffles, then at walking corpses, and back again. The waffles were good, but the undead creatures and their relentless approach was bad. Reluctantly, he sat down his fork and pulled out his wand. He saw one of the inferi was only inches away from Scarlett, and hurled a blasting curse at it. The spell knocked the thing far away from Scarlett that Sil felt safe using a more destructive spell. He flicked his wand again at the reanimated corpse, shouting incendio, and was pleased to see it go up in flames.
"That's for interupting my breakfast!" he shouted, and scooped a quick forkfull of waffles into his mouth. He aimed his wand at another inferius and said "immemmpo." Realising his mistake, he reached for a cup of coffee to wash the waffle down, but just then the creature lunged for him. He dodged, grabbed for his backpack, and dug inside it. As soon as his hand fel on what he was looking for, he threw the jar of bluebell flames at the feet of the creature and swallowed as the inferius burst into flames and stared running about setting a few of his companions on fire as well.
doratheauror - December 3, 2007 06:23 AM (GMT)
Why couldn't they have at least waited until lunch when I would have been more awake? Melie thought to herself as she saw Sil take out another. Melie ran over to where a student had fallen and she helped him up sent him in the direction of the door. Another Inferi was coming straight at her, with a friend of his, and with a quick flick of her wand she had taken care of the two of them, and she turned to see another advancing on her.
"You're kidding me right?" she yelled at it as it walked slowly towards her. "Incendio!" And the Inferi burst into flames. Melie turned and went to take out another when something grabbed her tightly from behind. Melie assumed it was another Inferi due to the stench but it had her in such a tight hold she wasn't able to use her wand. She stomped as hard as she could on the foot of it but she was only in her slippers and the Inferi didn't flinch. "Seriously?!" Melie yelled as she turned her head to yell at the Inferi. "Do you seriously think this is going work?!"
{Liam_McCallister} - December 3, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
Liam turned on another Inferius that was moving towards him, still droning on in its dead pan voice. He laughed at it and how silly it looked. He whipped his wand in front of him, yelling out "Reducto!", blasting the abomination to grave dust. He turned around, a savage, victorious look on his face, just in time to see a walking corpse grab Melie from behind. She tried to fight out of it, but the Inferius' evil strength appeared to be too much.
Overcome with rage Liam sprinted towards the beast, closing the distance in mere seconds. As he got nearer he dropped down into a slide, shooting his arms out to the side and grabbing the creature's rotten ankles, his momentum carrying him forward and pulling the zombie's legs out from under it, sending it crashing to the floor. In the impact it released Mel. Liam scrambled up to it's head and, gripping it's upper jaw, yanked with all his strength, it's head coming apart in a shower of decayed flesh. A triumphant grin split his face and he kissed Mel, then looked around, looking more of the evil creations to destroy.
pyrii - December 3, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Erin was drinking her coffee and trying to wake up properly after a long night's reading, listening to music, oblivious to the world, when suddenly a Inferi smashed her coffee cup to shards, and got coffee all over the front of her new jacket.
"WHAT THE F**K IS YOUR PROBLEM!?!?!?"
Erin yelled at the Inferi, not realizing what or who it was. She cursed flagrantly, and got to her feet in a whirl of annoyance and rage, and cast a reductor spell straight into the zombies chest, the chest cavity exploding in a blast of gore.
"THE HELL ARE YOU!?!?"
Erin yelled at the toppling corpse, still half asleep, but now annoyed as hell, and not entirely sure what sort of action she could take. People didn't normally EXPLODE when you hit them with a curse like that.
((OOC: sorry for the implied cursing, but Erin is NOT a morning person, and she isn't too happy about having to wake up, getting her coffee taken away, AND getting her new jacket soiled. and honestly, she has NO IDEA what is going on. So somebody please tell her.))

Scarlett raised her hands to block a headshot from the inferi that she had stumbled into when she saw spells flying at it, knocking it back. There was a shattering sound and it burst into flames. Scarlett scrambled back against the end of the table, much more afraid of the fire than the undead. She watched the inferi burn down but noticed that the little pile of fire stayed burning on the floor. Well that was convenient Scarlett thought as the zombie she had tumbled over grabbed her wristes. "So you want to dance?" She gritted out through a manic smile. She through all her weight sideways toward the blue-bell flames. The monster was dragged with her and when its foot hit the flames he caught on fire. But he didn't let Scarlett go and the flames were climbing up his body and would soon be a danger to her. With the strength born of a pure freak-out Scarlett ripped on the decaying arms loose from its socket and beat the inferi with it until it released her other wrist and then was totally consumed by flames.
Emma Potter - December 4, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
Emma walked into the great hall, fully awake, her hands twirling her wand back and forth as she walked in, and turned to head towards the Ravenclaw table. She was about to sit down when a bowl of oatmeal flew past her head and hit the wall. "Thats going to stain!' she said, watching as the oatmeal slid down and landed on the ground.
Turning back around, she saw an Inferi in front of her, mumbling brains at her. "WHAT THE HECK?" she yelled shoving it into a nearby table, and kicking her foot at it, realizing quickly what a bad mistake she had made. It had caught her foot, and was now drawing her towards it.
Grabbing her wand, she pointed it at it, and said.."Reducto", watching it fall apart. She relaxed her foot, taking off the arm that was once holding it. She looked around, and noticed Mark was the closest to her. "What is going on?" she yelled at him, hoping he would hear her over the noise.
REMY-SALINAS - December 4, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
Remy: Slytherin's Official Future
Remy woke up from bed early in the morning and quickly got dressed. He usually didn't wake up this early but seeing as he was up he decided to grab himself a bit of breakfast. He walked to the great hall and opened up the doors instantly seeing scarlett beating someone with his own hands, erin blast someone's chest out, mark throw a plate and cut someones head off, liam ripping peoples throats apart with his bare hands and melie and sil burning people. He shook his head and said "whats going on here then shook his head no you know what i dont want to know" eh said as he walked up to a table and grabbed a cup of coffee.
doratheauror - December 4, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
As Melie struggled to get free of the Inferius that had her from behind she felt a jerk and she was released from its grips and turned, wand point at where the Inferius had been, to empty space. She looked down and saw Liam tearing the Inferius apart. He stood up and gave her a kiss and then was looking for more trouble. Melie, grateful as she was not be breakfast for the Inferi, turned and ran off towards another Inferius who had just entered the room. Melie stopped short as she ran towards it, seeing Remy calmly getting himself a cup of coffee. Oh my God, he's insane! Melie thought to herself.
"Remy! What are you doing!? Kill them!" She screamed at him as she ran past, pointed her wand at an Inferius coming up behind him. "Incendio!" Melie looked around her and saw that now there seemed to be more Inferi than actual students in the Great Hall, and Melie was relieved that most of the students had been saved for the time being. She fired off more curses at Inferi that were still trying to enter the Great Hall and she groaned as a new wave started to come in, still chanting "Brains. Brains. Brains."
"Where are they coming from?" She shouted to no one in particular.
Lethal Ink - December 4, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
Sil a group of infericomming at him from either direction, and realized he would soon be surrounded if he didn't move. He levitated the Hufflepuff table--silently mourning his unfinished plate of waffles--and hurled it at the group on his right, then ran down the path the flying table had just opened. finding himself next to the Slytherin table, he noticed Remy casually sipping a cup of coffee.
"Better hurry up and finish that, man," he said with a wide grin on his face. "You're missing all the fun!"
ladeeknight - December 4, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
Scarlett almost lost her breakfast when she realized what she was using to beat the inferi off with. She screamed and flung it away forcefully. It hit the Gryffindor table and a finger broke off sailing across the room to land in Remy’s coffee. Scarlett did not see this stunning feat because she was quickly being surrounded by zombies. She quickly scooped up the candelabra, a much more appealing weapon and began to lay about with it, relishing in the sickening thuds that it made when it connected with inferi flesh. The zombies were a kind of grayish color and Scarlett imagine herself beating back the clouds.

Remy: Slytherin's Official Future
Remy shook his head as he saw a finger land on his coffee and he tossed it out and took another sip to finish it off. He looked around and wondered who had started this fight. He looked around the room and yelled out "who started this fight" as all he could think about was the mess everyone was making.
{Liam_McCallister} - December 4, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Laughing as he surveyed the chaos in the room Liam couldn't help but grin as he found another Inferius lumbering towards him, oblivious to the shards of glass and dishwear strewn about its feet. Liam swept his wand across the floor, levitating the many razor-sharp slivers in front of him before launching the storm of impromptu fletchettes at the zombie, cutting it to ribbons.
He looked around the room, watching the progress of the breakfast warfare. Everyone was doing quite well in dispatching the zombies. Then he noticed Remy sitting there sipping a cup of coffee before turning around to yell about who started the fight.
"The zombies started the fight you fool!" Liam roared over the sounds of the battle. "Now will you put the java down and give us a hand eh?!"
Lethal Ink - December 4, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
"Well, they didn't exactly start it, to be fair," Sil added. "But they are Inferi. What else are we supposed to do but crush them like oh so many ants?"
As if to illustrate the point, he made a slashing motion with his wand toward a group of the creatures and shouted "Incendio Maxumus!" disintegrating the entire group into ashes.
Emma Potter - December 5, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
Emma gave up on trying to get information out of Mark, and with several steps, dodging a flying finger, she made her way towards Sil. "We arent hurting them, the numbers arent lessening, they are..growing!" she said, watching a huge group of Inferi coming through the doors behind were the teachers sit. "Incendio Maxumus!" she said, watching as the new group quickly turned into ashes. Smiling slightly to herself when more did not come through the doors, she turned around to see that she had stepped into ashes, and a head of the Inferi. "Eeeeww...." she groaned, glancing back up to see more Inferi coming out of the doors behind the table. "There has to be a way they are all getting in here.." she murmered to herself.
doratheauror - December 5, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
Melie was being advanced on by a group of Inferi and she was throwing jinxes at them as fast as she could move her wand. Inferi were dropping like flies, all the students who were fighting had been able to destroy many of them, but it seemed like for every one that they killed 3 would take its place. Melie was slashing at an Inferius, gouging deep cuts into it, but nothing bled out. "Oh gross!" She exclaimed when one slice opened the abdomen and its stomach and intestines, rotted and flowing with zombie juice, came pouring out and Melie had to stop herself from gaging as the Inferius fell at her feet. She jumped back and ran into someone. She whipped around her wand raised, pointed right into the face of Mark. "What do they want?!" She asked him as she turned to look behind her, she didn't want to have to be rescued again.
ladeeknight - December 5, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Scarlett concentrated and bashing through one zombie in the that was surrounding her. When she got to the other side she noticed that she was near Mark and Melie. Figuring it might be time to group up and make a plan she headed in their direction just in time to hear Melie ask what they wanted. Scarlett gave a short bark of a laugh and said, "Can't you hear them Melie dear, they want brains."
Lethal Ink - December 5, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
"Yeah. You wanna watch your step," Sil said to Emma. "Some of them are kind of... juicy, still."
He looked around and saw that Melie and Scarlett had gathered around Mark, and was glad everyone was starting to group together.
"There can't be an endless supply of them," he said. "If they keep coming, I'm sure they'll run out eventually."
ladeeknight - December 5, 2007 07:48 PM (GMT)
Scarlett looked around and saw the fire was definately the most effective tool against these things. She dropped her candlabra to the floor with a clatter. In her madness she had not even thought of using her wand. She turned to Mark and said, "I can clear a path through these things, to the door, if you want to see where they are coming from, but I need you to be ready to put out whatever else gets set on fire. I don't really have a very good aim yet."
{Liam_McCallister} - December 5, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
Liam looked at the smoking and otherwise disassembled twice-dead corpses on the floor, wondering what it was finally going to take to get rid of the damn things so he could get back to his breakfast. He looked around and noticed that there was only one Inferius between him and the group of Scarlett, Melie, Mark, Sil, and Emma. Knowing that his place was with his friends, he decided the quickest way between the two points was a straight line. Lining himself up with the zombie he broke into a run, pocketing his wand.
As he closed on his target he leaped into the air, throwing both leather boots out in front him. His speed carried him right through the beast, blasting in two halves at the ribcage. He came down on the floor hard, accepting the sting on his back as he sprung back to his feet, coming up next to the rest of his friends.
"So guys," he said brightly, brushing some of the leftover zombie off his sleeve, "do we have a plan so we can get back to our breakfast?"
doratheauror - December 5, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
Melie rolled her eyes at Scarletts response, it was quite obvious they wanted breakfast, but why hogwarts? Scarlett made a plan with Mark and Melie saw Liam run up to them out of the corner of her eye.
"Guys we have to figure out how they're getting in here in the first place! That way we can stop them, then kill, again, the ones that are inside, because at this rate its never going to stop!" Melie shouted over the din of the fighting. She looked at Liam who seemed to enjoy being covered in zombie guts, making a mental note that she wasn't going to go near him until he will have taken a shower....or rather several showers.
ladeeknight - December 6, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
"In order to find out where they are coming from we have to get through them Melie. Mark, are you ready to put out what ever I light up?" Scarlett moved to the front of the group so that none of her friends were in danger of getting burned and waited for Mark to give the go ahead.
pyrii - December 6, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Erin was wide awake now, but was still unsure of what was happening. She blasted the zombies backwards, until she heard the yells that they were Inferi. A spell came to mind, one that might get her in some serious trouble in most cases, but she figured it was as good a time as any to use it.
"Sectumsempra!
Erin said, and a blast of magic came out of her wand, slashing up the zombie in front of her, and the one behind.
"Where did these things come from?"
Erin yelled, suddenly very worried. She was all alone at the far end of the Slytherin table, and the zombies were closing in on her, coming in from all sides.

Emma Potter - December 6, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Emma gagged a little more when Melie sliced open the Inferi's stomach, guts spilling out everywhere. She could feel something heavy and slimey land on her foot and looked down to see Inferi intestines on it. "Get it off!" she said quickly, flicking her foot in an upward direction, accidently making the intestines fly off at Mark. "Oh sorry!" she said with an sympathetic look on her face.
Turning back around to the group, she said..."I'm ready!" and took out her wand.
REMY-SALINAS - December 6, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
Remy: Slytherin's Official Future
Remy looked around and decided that maybe breakfast in the great hall wasn't such a great idea. "Im going to the lake i'll be back when this is over with, do what ever needs to be done just be sure to clean up after yourselves" he said as he walked out the door. "the undead walking wow now i have definitely seen everything" remy said shaking his head wondering if he was still asleep.
Lethal Ink - December 7, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Sil was surprised when Remy left. "He sure seemed calm about all of this," he said. "You guys don't suppose this is just some sort of test, do you?"
He heard Erin yell and looked around, but didn't see her. Though there was a rather large group of inferi closing in on the spot he had seen her last. He jumped up on the Slytherin table and ran down it towards tha spot, knocking over several serving dishes piled high with food on his way.
"Quick, Erin! Up here," he yelled, shooting blasting curses at some of the closest inferi.
pyrii - December 7, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
Erin was casting as quickly as she could, using reducto-s, sectumsempras and incendio charms, but the zombies still closed in on her, one of them bit her on the arm, and she kicked it away. Suddenly Sil appeared, blasting a opening on one side. Getting a running start, she headed for the table, and gave the zombie in her path a flying kick. She hopped up on the overturned zombie, using it as a springboard to leap towards the table.
"Brrrraiiiiinnnnssss"
The zombies chanted, and one caught her leg right before she cleared the gap. She fell onto her stomach, the wind being knocked out of her, and the zombies started to claw at her pants, pulling her into the crowd, which was solid to the doors with zombies at this point.
Erin looked pleadingly up at Sil, unable to speak, as the zombies pulled her towards them, the shoes and lower part of her pants being shredded as the zombies tried to get to her flesh.

Scarlett could not clear a path to the door with Erin in the way being mauled by zombies, so she was going to have to give the other girl a fashion make over that would save her life. Luckily the inferi seemed to mostly be clinging onto Erin by her pants. Scarlett took careful aim at a point about mid-thigh on Erin’s pants, “Diffindo, Diffindo,” she said twice slicing the lower legs off Erin’s pants. Scarlett hoped that would be enough for the trapped girl to squirm free and get out of the way. Scarlett wondered if the zombies could somehow tell how smart Erin was and that was why they seemed to be trying extra hard to get to her brain. Talk about being too smart for your own good, thought Scarlett derisively.
