Title: Sorting Feast
Description: firsties post your sorting hat stories
ladeeknight - November 22, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Scarlett sat down in front of her gold plate. The sorting feast was always a little tedious for her because it meant she had to wait to eat. She had taken to keeping some of Alfie's raisin bread in a plastic bag stowed in her school robes for snacking emergencies. She took some out and nibbled at it and settle down to watch the next crop of Hogwarts students get sorted.
Scarlett was excited about this feast because she had a lot of friends that were first years and she wanted to watch them get sorted.
OoC: This isn't jsut for firsties. If you haven't told your story about what happened under the hat then tell it. This is a big right of passage so don't miss out!
alrerretta - November 22, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
After getting of the train Alfie slowly walked to the great hall. As Alfie walked into the room she saw Scarlett. Walking over to her and saw that Scarlett was eating what looked like a piece of Cinnamon rasion bread Alfie had made. If it was then the charm Alfie put on the bread did work very well for the bread looked like it had just been made.
"Hi Scarlett, Is that the bread I brought on the train?"
ladeeknight - November 22, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Scarlett blushed a little being caught by the bread maker. "I am not really sure Alfie. To be honest I usually snag a little extra bread whenever you have it out. You know once everyone else has had some. It give me something to munch on between meals."
alrerretta - November 23, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Looking at Scarlett Alfie smiled. Alfie knew that most of the people here at Hogwarts love her bread and so she didn't blame her for it but Alfie would always be glad to give Scarlett bread whenever she asked.
"Scarlett I was just wanting to know so I could find out how well the spell I put on the bread worked for keeping it fresh."
ladeeknight - November 23, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
"It tastes just like the day you baked it." Scarlett took another bite and waited for the sorting. The first years were lining up and looking nervous. Scarlett remembered how nervous she had been and she felt a pang of sympathy for them.
alrerretta - November 23, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
Alfie got up from her seat and took bread to each of the house tables so that everyone could have some. There where a lot of people from the school that loved Alfie bread not to mention just about everything she cooked.
Returning to her own table Alfie watched and waited for the sorting to being. I hope we get a good group this year. As Alfie thought this she remembered that she hadn't seen many people from many of the other houses lately. "I wonder how many people are in each house?"
alexa_rivers - November 24, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
Alexa had just been sorted into Ravenclaw when she headed over to the table. She was very eager to try some of the food, it sounded so good. But at the same time, she was very eager to see who else was being sorted and where they were going to end up. She pulled out a piece of candy that Emilie had given her on the train to keep her fulfilled until the sorting was over and the food appeared.
alrerretta - November 24, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
Alfie got up once more and picked up some of the Cinnamon Rasion bread she had and went to the Ravenclaw table. Alfie knew that is would be a while before the sorting was done so she set a paper plate in front of the girl Alexa. "Here this will make the wait easier." Alfie told the girl. "I put it out every new term so that no one faints from hunger."
ladeeknight - November 24, 2007 03:25 AM (GMT)
Scarlett cheered loudly for Alexa and was honestly a little sorry that the girl had not been sorted into Gryffindor. But at least Alexa would be with her cousin, and Scarlett reconed that Gryffindor couldn't get all the good ones.
alexa_rivers - November 24, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
Alexa smiled and waved to Scarlett. A girl came over with some really good looking bread. She placed it in front of Alexa who smiled and breathed in the scent of cinnamon raisin. She looked up. "Thank you so much, this looks wonderful" She took a bite, it was as good as it looks. "This is wonderful. Thanks so much!" She said. "By the way, I'm Alexa." She said as she extended her hand after swallowing a bite of the bread.
ladeeknight - November 24, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
Scarlett waved back at Alexa, smiling to herself as she saw the younger girl was about to get her first taste of Alfie's rasin bread. Scarlett privately wondered if it was Alfie's plan to always get them young, and then they would be addicted to that bread for life. She wondered this as she absentmindedly brought her own chunk of rasin bread to her mouth. Yep she was addicted all right.
alrerretta - November 24, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
Alfie looked at the girl Alexa and said, "I'm sorry I know your name cause I heard it when you where sorted but I didn't tell you mine. I'm Alrerreta Herbs but you can call me what everyone else does around here. Alfie."
As the next kid was sorted Alfie moved back to where Scarlett was. "I.m sorry but I just can stand feeling that anyone is hungry. I just had to give her some bread."
ladeeknight - November 24, 2007 04:06 AM (GMT)
Scarlett pretended to pout. "But there might not be any left over for my stash if you share with all the firsties," but then she broke into a grin. "I know Alfie and we are all greatful that you feed us through the sorting feast.
alexa_rivers - November 24, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
Alexa smiled, she liked the people here. She turned back to watch the sorting as she munched on the bread. This was really good bread. She nibbled on it while she watched the rest of the sorting. She scanned the Great Hall looking for her cousins, wondering if they were going to make it to the sorting. She had seen Emilie quite a bit, but had yet to see Ben...anywhere...when was that boy going to make an appearance? She shook her head as she thought about his odd tendencies
alrerretta - November 24, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
Alfie smiled at Scarlett she knew how much Scarlett loved Alfie's Bread so Alfie reached into her pack and pulled out over one hundred loaves of it. "Scarlett now you see why I don't worry about giving it away. I keep a lot of it and yes it does go fast but I always can make more."
Alfie hoped that Scarlett would want a couple of loaves so she would have it if she got hungry later.
ladeeknight - November 24, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
"Where do you find the time Alfie?" Scarlett said in awe. "I will never worry about anyone going breadless again." Scarlett was aware that she might have missed a few of the sortings since she was paying attention to the bread. That could account for how someone could have been sorted into her very own house and would not have met them. Scarlett could become very distracted by Alfie's bread.
Logan Devonwood - November 24, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Logan walked into the Great Hall and took a quick look around. He hadn't yet been down there yet, so he hoped that he was in the right spot. He spotted a few girls that he had met, and he watched Alfie put out some loaves of bread. Logan put on a grin and walked on in. "Sorting feast, I presume?"
alrerretta - November 24, 2007 05:29 AM (GMT)
Alfie smiled when Scarlett said she wouldn't worry about bread ever again. All of the sudden Alfie saw the the Boy Logan was sorted into Ravenclaw or did she hear wrong. She had been paying a lot of attention to how happy Scarlett was to find that Alfie always had a lot of bread hid away in her pack.
Anyway Alfie walked over to where Logan was and handed him a loaf of bread that she had already sliced and said, welcome to hogwarts.
Logan Devonwood - November 24, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
"Thank you, and thank you Alfie." Logan smiled and looked down at the wonderfully smelling bread he held in his hands. He took a seat with a few other Ravenclaws, and took a big bite. Cinnamon!
ladeeknight - November 24, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
Scarlett saw a lost firsty and steered him toward the line of his fellows, "You have to actually put the hat on to know where your headed hon," she said to him kindly steering him toward the front of the room.
OoC: Logan post what the hat says to you as it sorts you into Ravenclaw. That is what this thread is all about. :P
alrerretta - November 24, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
Alfie looked at Scarlett and said, "He was hust sorted. He is in Ravenclaw."
Ooc: Scarlett I wrote that he had been sorted while we where talking. Logan if you would please say how you think you would feel when your turn came to get sorted it would make Scarlett very happy. She loves to know what people think when they are sorted. Besides it gives you a chance to post more and move up grades.
Alfie looked at Logan and said, "so did you get the house you wanted?"
Alfie then asked, "so did anyone try to scare you about what would happen when you put on the hat?"
Waiting for Logan to answer Alfie just gave a smile.
Lethal Ink - November 29, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
(OOC: Well, after reading through this thread, I decided someone should actually put the friggin hat on!)
BIC:
Sil watched most of his other classmates get sorted--his last name starting with a V put him rather far down the list. Each time a student was sorted, the Sorting hat would call out a House name and there would be a rounding cheer of applause from the respective table.
It was all very overwhelming, and Sil was growing more apprehensive by the moment as the line ahead of him grew shorter and shorter. He also wanted the ceremony to hurry up and be over with so he could eat.
Finally, he heard his name called. Kind of. "Septimus V... er... Veni-tusky?"
"Its pronounced Veni-TOO-chee," he said.
"Oh," said the kindly witch calling out the names. "Sorry about that. Well, have a seat."
Sil sat on the stool and felt the hat lowered on his head. Then he heard a raspy, grandfatherly voice say, "Why, hello there."
He looked around to see who was talking.
"No, up here," the voice chuckled. "this will be much easier if you relax."
Realizing it was the hat speaking, Sil did as he was told, or tried to anyway.
"Hmmm. You are a tricky one. Courageous, but you doubt yourself; studious, but only when you want to be; clever, but never scheming. Trustworthy, and... What's this? Hungry? At a time like this? I know just the place for you."
"HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat shouted.
ladeeknight - November 29, 2007 06:55 PM (GMT)
OoC: Thank you for putting on the hat Sil. That is what I had in mind all along.
BiC: Scarlett clapped as Hufflepuff got their firts recruit of the night. She was a little surprised at how hard loyalty was to come by at Hogwarts. She had met him on the train and he seemed like a nice guy.
Lexi Fox - November 29, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
((I'll do the same.))
Lexi waited in line for her turn to be sorted. Her last name was Fox, so she wasn't far down the list. She sared at all the people groaning from hunger and waiting for the sorting to be over. Some, were looking eagerly at the first years, as if trying to put words into the Sorting Hat's "mouth", so the firstie would be in their house. Lexi bit her lip, wondering what her houses reaction would be to her sorting. She pictured herself being put in a house and all of her housemates groaning. The thought made her want to turn around run out of the Great Hall.
Finally, she heard,"Fox, Alexa!" Lexi gulped and slowly walked towards the hat, aware of the eyes on her, boaring into her, asif it would reveal some ancient secret. When she sat on the stool, she closed her eyes and the hat slid over them. Darkness embraced her. She then heard a voice in her right ear,"Hmm, you seem like a good girl for Gryffindor. Daring and noble. You are like your sister." Lexi gulped down tears at the mention of Amanda. The hat continued," Ravenclaw's a good bet. You would be a star student. Slytherin? No!!! With that heart and personality? Maybe Hufflepuff? Yes, you can show them that Hufflepuffs aren't blah. You are made for all the houses except Slyherin. You will make Hogwarts history as the Hufflepuff that dared... and studied."
Lexi thought that she heard it chuckle at the joke, but her thoughts were distracted by the booming voice,"Then it shall be... HUFFLEPUFF!!!"
Lexi opened her eyes to a roar of applouse from the Huffleppuff table. She put a broad smile on her face, walked up to the table, and sat down.
alrerretta - November 30, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
As the sorting begain Alfie listened wondering how many of the firties would be put in Gryffindor.
As Alfie heard Sil's name and that he was put in Hufflepuff. Alfie clapped as Sil walked to the Hufflepuff table and sat down.
"Well Scarlett what do you think of the hat's chose for Sil?"
Before Scarlett could answer the hat had another student under it.
Lexi Fox was called. Alfie wondered as the hat tried to guess where she would be put and when the hat said Hufflepuff Alfie smiled and clapped for her too. Alfie liked getting new people to be placed in her house but the other house needed people too.
"Looks like Hufflepuff has gotten two of the new kids, well we may get a few."
Alfie was hoping they would get a for new Gryffinders, but the way things where going maybe thy wouldn't.
ladeeknight - December 1, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
"The Hufflepuff really are reelin' 'em in tonight," Scarlett agreed as another girl was sorted into Hufflepuff. "I don't know Sil too well, but from meeting him on the train I'd say loyal and hard working are in the realm of possibility." Scarlett couldn't wait to see who would go under the hat next.
Logan Devonwood - January 31, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
OOC: I'll post the story here :)
Everyone was so tense about the sorting. Girls were wringing their hands, and the boys were trying to look tough, but they were still covering up for their own fears. Logan was just relaxing. He already knew that he would end up in one of two houses. So what? Every house had pros and cons, so it didn't much matter where he'd end up.
"Logan Devonwood!" He heard his name called. He casually strolled up to the front of the great hall, looking calm and collected. He took a seat on the stool and waited for the hat to be placed on his head.
Why hello there! Came a voice from inside of his head. Logan just shrugged, he figured that the hat was bewitched.
Now what have we here...hmm...bravery for sure. Balanced out with a deal of mischief. Ooh, quite so. A very devious mind, and an appreciation of the potions.
Well, you would do well in Slytherin's house...
Logan grinned
However, we can see a wise mind beyond all those prankings. And we can find a thirst to prove that you're not just some thick-headed boy. And I think you have personal reasons for being in Ravenclaw House. Better be...
"RAVENCLAW!" The hat shouted. Logan smiled and stepped down.
Emma Potter - February 1, 2008 01:24 AM (GMT)
Emma gracefully satdown at the Ravenclaw table, making sure she did not distract to many people. She watched as one boy went up and was sorted into Ravenclaw. With a smile, she stood up with her other fellow Raveys while clapping and welcoming the boy. Moving aside, she allowed him to have some room to sit down.
OOC: Does this post work?
alrerretta - February 9, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
Alfie was very happy that everyone seamed to like the houses they got put into.
"Scarlett, how many more do you think Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff will get? Do you think we will get any this year?"
Alfie looked around the table it just didn't seam right that they didn't have any new people.
"I guess there aren't any brave enough ones this year."
Feeling kind of mad at herself for not thinking first Alfie just desided to sit quietly.
