Title: Sweeney Todd
Description: Who else is counting the days? haha

Wow, this movie looks amazing: Sweeney Todd.

For one thing, it's got Johnny Depp....and he's singing....and kills people.

For another, it's got 3 Harry Potter actors (Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham-Carter, and the guy who played Peter Pettigrew, I forget his name)

Oh, and it's directed by Tim Burton.

Seriously, can it get any better!?!? I want to go see it really really badly. My friends and I are already making plans to go see it together.

I'm planning to see it, too! I read about it on internet Movie Database. With a cast like that, plus Tim Burton directing, it ought to be good.

*drool*

It only comes out here in a few months. Johnny's voice is amazing!

Twilight - January 1, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
I saw it over the holidays! The entire cast was amazing! Even Timothy Spall (Wormtail) sang a few notes for us. He seemed to be really enjoying his part.

More on all that in a minute, but first a word of warning, everyone: If you're squeemish, this movie is NOT for you! It's a very dark story, and they go over the top with the blood. I squirmed in my seat a few times, and I don't squirm easily.

That having been said, it's extremely well done and I actually saw it a second time, after I got over the impact of the first time, so I could better appreciate the production values. Johnny was excellent! I read a review that said he couldn't sing, and I can't imagine where they got that stupid idea. He was great! My only complaint is that the part required him to scowl most of the time. I like it so much when he smiles.

Alan Rickman was great, of course (he's always great, IMO). There's a scene where he takes off a mask and there's a close up of his face. I looked into his brown eyes and melted into my seat.

I think Helena Bonham Carter had the best part (Mrs Lovett), and she was fantastic. Her character is overshadowed by Depp's, but is very complex (and has some of the funniest lines).

I think you're in love...

Does Alan sing?
And Johnny said he wasn't sure if he could hold a note, and he admitted that he surprised himself with is singing.
I read some posts on a JD site about people who've met him.. my gosh, I HAVE to meet him!

*drool*

Twilight - January 1, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Meet him? Oh, don't I wish!

Yes, Alan sings, and his voice is a lovely baritone. He manages to sing while sitting in a barber chair with Johnny Depp, in character as a madman, with a straight razor at his throat. That couldn't have been easy, I wouldn't think. ;)

*drool*

My dream is to meet Alan before he dies. I guess I should start saving?
*gasp* I just realised something! My dad might get a good job, which means I might be able to go to England.. which means I might be able tomeet Alan.. not that my dad would take me.
Who lives in England and wants to meet Alan Rickman?

*squeal*

I just have to add this; Alan Rickman is sex on legs!

I saw Sweeny Todd last night and *puke* it was so gory!!!! Blood everywhere! Ugh

But the music was awesome and the plot was excellent! Lots of twists and stuff.

And Alan Rickman does sing. Quite well too.

*Hums* I'll have my vengance...

red_phoenix - April 12, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
I've never seen it. I want to. It looks eally good. And it has Johny Depp singing,it cannt get any better it seems like. :)

Sardine - April 12, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
Is it out here?! Where'd you see it.
Tell me, Kaz, tell me!!! *foams at the mouth*

Kitty - April 13, 2008 04:00 PM (GMT)
It's at the Mr Videos at the Lion's Square centre on Somerset West main road. It was really good just very grusome. I thought you of all people would have seen it when it was in the cinema?

red_phoenix - April 13, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
I've never seen it. Why is it grusom?!?

Logan Devonwood - April 16, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
It's "gruesome" because: The story is about Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street. Mainly, in his barber shop, men go in for a shave, but they get their throats slit instead (blood spews out the wound). And to cover up the murders, Todd's accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, bakes them into her pies. A lot of people can't watch the pie scene just based on that principle haha

I don't know, a lot of people told me that it was wicked bloody before I went to go see it. While I will admit that there was quite a bit of bloodshed, it wasn't THAT bad until the final 10 minutes.

I really really really really really really really really looooooove this movie! I want to visit Fleet Street. Like...now. haha

Ginny_potter - April 16, 2008 09:12 AM (GMT)

Henry Bridge - April 16, 2008 10:33 AM (GMT)
Yaaaa I love the movie also. I own it on dvd. I never saw it in theaters though. But when I got it on dvd I watched it 5 days in a row, lol. Logan it's not that bloody at the last 10 mintutes. That's when it's like the most fakiest blood of the whole movie, lol. Anyways I love the whole movie, it's aswome. Next to Harry Potter it's my favorite movie.

...I wasn't aware that blood being fake meant that it wasn't bloody at all

I'm not saying I thought it was that bloody, just that most people I know really couldn't watch the last ten minutes, what with everything that happens. Same wih the Johanna reprise

Sardine - April 16, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
When was it on big screen?!?! HOW DID I MISS IT? I checked the paper constantly! *cries*

red_phoenix - April 16, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
Dont worry. Neva saw it(abviously)lol  but ya'll are lucky u saw it. my mum wouldnt let me! And she knows i luv johny depp!

Sardine - April 17, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
I think it's really, really gory. I saw Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, and that was pretty bad. So I reckon Sweeney Todd is about 10 times worse. I wouldn't be surprised if my mom didn't want me watching it.

Ginny_potter - April 17, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
I dont know if it shoud have been rated so high it wasn't THAT bad in my opinion when i went to see it i expected much more gore! the songs are fab though i recommend listening to the sound track <<<JOHNNY DEPP CAN SING>>>

red_phoenix - April 17, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
I LOVE THE SLEEPY HOLLOW!!!! IT WAS SOOO AWSOME!!!! (my mum doesnt know ive seen that) lol :P

Sardine - April 20, 2008 10:58 AM (GMT)
I was feeling a little queasy near te end. I've rented Sweeney Todd, so I'm going to go watch it just now :D

Henry Bridge - April 20, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
Yes, the Johanna Reprise was pretty bloody. My sister clossed her eyes whenever someone died, except when Mrs. Lovett died at the end. I love how Toby kill Sweeney and then he just walks away. Toby was one of my favorite singers in the movie also. He's so talented for........how ever old he is. LOL!!!

Sardine - April 20, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
I was.. disappointed. The singing was good, but that was it really. I expected it to be more gory, have more of a story. The bloke who played Toby can certainly sing, as can Johnny, Alan, Helen, and Sasha/Sacha/whatever his name is.

Blegh.

Henry Bridge - April 21, 2008 12:43 PM (GMT)
Are you kidding me Sardine, the whole movie was aswome not just the singing. But whatver different people have different oppions. I still love the movie though.

Sardine - April 21, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
I watched it because of Johnny and Alan... :o

red_phoenix - April 21, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
johny depp...........

Sardine - April 22, 2008 04:24 PM (GMT)
My thoughts exactly :D
