Title: Godric Gryffindor
Description: HBP

Phoenix - March 10, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
Hey, i seen the new cover for the uk + ireland version of HBP and both look
pretty cool.
:P B)
ok so the childs version depicts Harry and Dumbledore conjuring a ring of
flames around themselves in what looks like a defence attempt. The adult
version onthe other hand shows a picture of some kind of antique book. The
defence thing is understandable - fine but why an antique book?
I reckon it has something to do with the excerpt "He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp."
When i first read this i instantly thought “Godric Gryffindor” but then
“How?” and i think this antique book may be the answer.
Anyone want to squash my theory???

I thought that it was Godric Gryffindor at first too! But why would JK Rowling be describing him?? That's the thing I can't get past.

Well, thats how i reckon the description and the
book are linked. Maybe it would be kinda like
how Riddle preserved himself in that diary. I think
that they might be able to contact Godric
Gryffindor through this antique book and talk to
him - explore his memories. Maybe they find out
the truth of what happened when slytherin left that
night. I dont know - its kinda out there but maybe
possible....

BarbieGirl - March 11, 2005 11:35 PM (GMT)
Thats kinda predictable- dont you think?? Being able to contact the Slytherin heir through a book, and then being able to contact Godric through a book to. I dont think JK would use the same plot twice??

Phoenix - March 11, 2005 11:51 PM (GMT)
true but it was the first thing that came to me - i still don't wanna rule it out though cos gryff and sly wer very common in some ways and i reckon riddle had to get the idea from somewhere. I'm not saying it would be used in the same way just in some way to connect with the past

BarbieGirl - March 11, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
Yes that is true. Maybe Godric found another way to preserve himself???? Although it would be interesting if he was preserved in a book................

I’m just convinced that that excerpt is a description of
Godric gryff and im in love with the idea that he left some of
himself behind if you get me - otherwise why would there be
a description of him!??
There wa no such thing as photos when he was around
so.....i don’t know i just have a feeling that the book is whats
linkin him and harry

hey Phoenix :). great thread! i saw that you already found the other thread about the bookcovers and since this one's going in a different direction now, maybe you could give the thread a different name ? :D . maybe something bout godric gryffindor or the exerpt.....that seems where the discussion's leading and it defenitly needs discussing! so with a new title more poeple might join in. :)

mwiley - April 1, 2005 07:35 PM (GMT)
Well, there are other ways to be able to see someone, maybe jk rowling will find another way for them to contact him, maybe a sertain spell, or potion to bring him back for a short period of time. Just a guesse

May be he's more important then we think...... *dumb dumb dumb*

yeah i think godric gryffindor will somhow be in this book. i dont kno what importance he will have, but qho else could j.k. be describing? or actually it could be the DADA teacher.

Phoenix - May 1, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
yeah but if it we're still stuck then on the new DADA teacher having an uncanny likeness to Godric. this McClaggan - well thats who i recon the new teacher is - McClaggan is an old kind of family name right so he might actually be related - family links?
i dont know, :<<

yah, i think there will be something about Godric Gryffindor in his book. I don't know how important his appearance may be, but it seems very likely for him to appear in the book

hmmm...family links.....you might be on to something..lol

mwiley - June 18, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
Yeah..great thread!! It give you a lot to think about...and maybe there is some kind of family relation....i mean that would make sence for someone from his family to look like him..or maybe this description was to discribe somebody else.

whiteflame - June 20, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
well, the ancient book may have to do with an old spell book/spell. maybe the childs version is elaborating it more than the adult version is. if they have found an old spell book, then perhaps the spell book holds the key to voldies success??? or maybe its my crazy thinking...
