Alfie had got to the classroom early so she could check on the drying Fenugreek leaves, and to put up the names of the herbs they would be studying today after they finished iwth the leaves.

Alfie went to the chalkboard and wrote,

Snap-Dragons and Witch Hazel

Alfie then wrote underneath the names of the plants,

Snap-Dragons should never be picked by the dark of the moon and we will learn why today and see what happens at night if we do not obey this rule.

Witch Hazel is best used on bruses and minor cuts, and if you look in the library you will find the other things yu can uses these herbs for.

Your homework will be to write everything you can find on these plants and if you know more things then what is in the library and put that in your homework you will reciev extra credit.

The student with the best paper will get there work sent back to the and is asked to put it in the herbology book here at the school for all to read.

Dru went careening down the hall at a flat-out run. She was dead late for herbology and was sure she was going to miss something really important. She charged down the last hall and spun into the open cloor still at a full run, only to skid to a hault in surprise.

"Uh..." she said to professor Alfie, who was the only person in the room.

"I... I thought I was late?" She asked, confused. why wasn't anyone else there?

Walking down the halls to the herbology classroom, she passed Dru running. She yelled out.."Hey Dru what are you doing?" she asked but obvisouly Dru didnt hear her. Finally she made it to the classroom, and walked in. Seeing Dru, she smiled.."Trying to beat me to class, eh?" she said jokingly. "Good Morning Professor!" she said on her way to her seat. She found a seat next to Dru, and took out her notes and started writing down the assignment and what they were studying.

Mari entered the room, ready for the next Herbology lesson.
"Hello one and all!" Mari entered the room rather boisterously, swinging her arms around happily, "Your queen of everything has arrived!"
Mari walked over to Emma and winked at her, "had to do it."

Dru slipped into a seat quietly, wondering how she had gotten so confused. If there was no one else in class when she arrived, she couldn't have been late, right? Well, unless of course she was so late that the class was over. Emma's arrival put that fear to rest, and when Mari walked in. Dru chalked up her worry to still being new and a little easy to get confused or turned around. She took out her books, ink, quill and parchment, and began writing down the homework assignment.

Alfie had gone over to the dehydraters to check on the Fenugreek leaves when a student came running in.

Alfie turned with a start she could not figure out why Drusha was running.

"Is there something .......,"

Just as Alfie was talking another student came into the room a started talking to Drusha then one more came in, so Alfie checked the Fenugreek leaves on the window cill, then said,

"Ladies please talk a little more quietly. Oh by the way has any of you seen other students coming this way as if they plan on attending this class? by the way would you like to see how well your leaves have dried?"

Alfie hoped that the rest of the students would show up soon. They didn't have long to work with the snap-dragons and the witch hazel.

Alfie knew that the students would love to see the snap-dragons snap at her good thing she would be using her dragon hide gloves.

Emma laughed when she saw Mari walk in. Getting up from her seat, she slid out the chair next to her and took a deep bow.."Your seat, my royal queen!" she said with a grin. Hearing what Professor Alfie said, she grinned, and put a finger up to her voice, telling everyone to be more quiet. Smiling she walked over to the window sill.."I think I saw a large group of students coming this way..and can I see how my leaves are doing?" she asked with curiosity.

Alfie had checked all the leaves and pointed to Emma's paper towel where the leaves sat ready to be crushed into a powder and put into the capsules.

"Everyone please get your leaves and we will crush them and place them into the capsules so we can get on with the class. We have a lot to do and very little time left," Alfie stated.

Alfie noticed that the sun was going down and it would be time to show the students why they should never pick Snap Dragons on a new moon.

Dru collected her leaves and looked them over carefully. They all looked to be nicely dried without any damp spots or mold. Pleased with the results, she set her collection on a work table, waiting for further instructions. It all seemed straightforward enough.

Dream ran into the classroom and dove into an empty seat next to Mari. "Oh my god I'm SO sorry, Proffessor Alfie! Am I late?" she asked breathlessy as she grabbed her supplies out of her bag and started scribbling down today's lesson furiously. Her hands were shaking almost too much to write because she'd been freaking out when she'd looked up at the clock in the Detention Hall.

Alfie looked at Dream and said, "Well you are not late yet but almost. Now if you will be so kind as to get your dried herbs from the 2 tables we can start to crush them. Everyone take each pile of leaves and crush them, make sure you do not mix the piles so that we can make each container with the way they where dried."

Alfie wanted this part done as quickly as possible.

"As soon as you are done please come over here so you all can see the Snap-Dragon plants, don't forget to put on a pair of Dragon hide gloves."

The Snap-Dragons where in full bloom and she could hardly wait to get started.

"We must be careful with the Snap-Dragons as the moon is in the new phase and they act differently at this time."

Emma smiled when she saw Dream come into the classroom. Gathering her dried herbs she began crushing them, making sure to carefully seperate them. After finishing this step, she came over so she could observe the Snap-Dragon plants. Hearing the part about gloves, she went back and grabbed a pair of gloves out of her bag and slipped them on.


OOC: when is the hw due?

Dru carefully crushed her leaves, keeping each batch separated. The tapped the crushed leaves into the small capsules profesor Alfie had set out for the purpose.

Dru loved snapdragons and she was looking forward to the next part of the lesson. She couldn't imagine why they needed to wear their dragon hide gloves, but she slipped them on and went to join Emma. Surely, she thought to herself, the stories her mum had told her about snap dragons were nothing more than just stories... right? They didn't really... act differently at different phases of the moon.

Dream gave a sigh of relief and a smile of thanks to the professor before getting up and quickly getting the required herbs from the other tables. Then she grabbed a pair of dragon skin gloves from the supply closet and walked back over to her seat. Then she crushed up the herbs, making sure to keep each pile seperate from each other before getting up again and walking over to Professor Alfie and the snapdragons.

As Jahn bolted into the classroom, fearing he was late, he stopped to regain some breath in his now dried up, shriveled up lungs. As soon as that mission had been accomplished, he bellowed. "Professor! Am I late?". Then, seeing the instructions on the board, he took a pair of dragon-hide gloves, wondering why they would need them,and traveled to the front of the room to get some herbs to crush.He then began crushing them, making sure to seperate them into two piles.

Alfie had noticed that the students had finish crushing up their leaves and came over to the pretty snap dragons.

"As you all should know, we are now in the dark time of the moon. It is the best time to pick snap dragons for protection. They will protect if you pick them at another time but work bestwhen picked during the new moon. The next best time is when the moon is full and the snap dragons are asleep."

Alfie put on her Dragon Hide gloves and some Dragon dung.
While putting the dung around the snap dragon with one hand she grabbed a flower with her other hand.

"Be sure you get ones that are on the outside of the other flowers so it is harder for the others to bite you."

The snap dragons began to bite at Alfie but she took scissors and cut 6 of the 20 flowers from the plant.

"I can not say this too many times. Never ever take more then 10% of any plant. Muggles have made it very hard to keep some plants from going extinct."

Dream looked at Professor Alfie in confusion as she watched her cut much more than 10% of the plant off whiel saying to never do so. She bit her bottom lip and didn't saything though because she didn't want to get in trouble. she then obediantly put on her dragon-hide gloves and took a pot of soil. She added some dragon dung and mixed it all up. then she scooped out a hole in the center, large enough to plant the snap dragons. She turned to the huge snap dragon plant in front of her and counted that it had about 50 flowers on it, so using her scissors and going as fast as she could, she quickly cut off 5 of the flowers with a good portion of their stem from the edges of the plant. She did this with only getting bitten one time, so she felt pretty good about her efforts. She held the five snap dragons in ehr hand and waited for further instructions.

Dalejin

::Dalejin walked into the classroom and set his stuff down beside of Dreams before he went over to the window sill, grabbed his leaves there and then the ones from the deyhumidifier and crushed them up sepparatly and put them in the capusels. He then went to the Dragon Snaps and cut off 4 of the 36 leaves that were there and sat back down in his seat to jot down the notes that were on the board. He looked over at Dream.::"Hope you don't mind me sitting here."

Dream was still waiting for Professor Alfie to continue with her lesson when Dalejin walked into the room. She watched him chop up his herbs and put them in capsules. then he sat down next to her and asked if she minded. "As long as you're not gonna try to kill me today, you know I always welcome your company." she said to him with a cheeky grin.

Dalejin

::Dalejin grinned at Dream's comment.::"Sorry Dream. That's only on Tuesdays through Fridays. Mondays I'm just too hung over from the weekend."::Dalejin grinned as he jotted down the notes from the board.::

Dream gave Dalejin a small push. "Drinking firewhiskey without me? That's like a cardinal sin. I don't know if you can sit here now." she said jokingly as she wrote down the homework assigment and started doodling to pass the time. She looked up at the clock and saw that class was more than halfway done now, and she was glad to say that it was the last class of the day for her.

Dalejin

"Ha. Of course I'm gonna drink without you. I'll break any rule out there."::Dalejin closed up his notebook and took out a coin and started flicking it into the air to pass the time.::

Alfie had taken her Snap Dragon flowers over to a table that had enough vases for each student to get one and there where little draw string bags there as well.

"If you will please come over here when you have you flowers we will put a few flowers of the Snap Dragon plants in the sash, that is the little bags and pull the strings to close them up then we will take the rest of the flowers and each person will put them in a vase. The vases are your to keep. I want you all to put these in your window in your dorm. The sashes I want you to keep on you and see how well they work."

Alfie thought of an expirement for the class.

"I have some that where picked on the full moon and some that where picked in between that time. Anyone wanting to try these instead are welcome to. "

Alfie wanted the class to see which worked better and hoped that some of the students would take the other flowers and leave thiers in the class room. It would be good for them to see just how much differents the time things where picked made.Many students would wait until they had to use the herbs to pick them and had no idea about the way the plant would act.

Dream rolled her eyes at Dalejin and just shook her head at him, not having the chance to retort sine the professor was speaking again. Dream listened carefully to Professor Alfie and then took her 5 snapdragon plants and carefully pulled a few of the flowers off of the plants and placed them in the sash that the professor had given her. Then she put the plants into one of the vases. She took her vase over to the other table where the plants that had been picked in other moon cycles were sitting. She exchanged her vase of snapdragons with a vase that was full of snapdragons picked under the full moon. "I'll take these with me, Professor Alfie." she said.

Dalejin

::Dalejin picked up the leaves from the Dragon's Snap and traded them for the ones picked under the full moon as he wanted to know what the difference was. He tied the ones up in the sash and the others in the vase and sat back down. He was excited to see what would happen.::

Dru was getting a little impatient with the antics between Dream and Dalejin, but they were older than she was and she bit her lip to keep herself from telling them to be quiet. She was having a hard enough time cutting her flowers as it was without their chattering, One flower actually grabbed a dragonhide glove right off of her hand and she had to wrestle it away from the plant, blushing in embarassment as she crammed the glove back onto her hand.

She figured she could use all of the help she could get in the protection department and chose to keep her vase of flowers picked in the new moon, and the same with the clipped flowers. She slipped her small collection of freshly cut flowers into her drawsring bag, then stuffed the bag into the front of her robes.

Remy suddenly appeared next to drusha, having an invisibility cloak came in real handy at times he thought to himself. He smiled at Dru and quickly sat down next to her. "i hope you don't mind me sitting down here with you" he said with a smirk on his face as he put his supply bag on the floor next to the chair.

Dru jumped and sqwealed at the sight of Remy, dropping her cut flowers on the table. The nearest snapdragon snatched her glove again and she gritted her teeth as she wrestled it back again.

"I don't mind," Dru answered sullenly. She was feeling rather homesick, and making new friends was proving to be harder than she expected. Even though she hardly knew him, she was already rather fond of Remy. That he was her house prefect probably had a lot to do with that.

"If you have now put your flowers in their vases and sashes and have disided if you want the ones you pick or the ones that have been picked at a different time, you may leave."

Looking over the class and seeing that Remy had just turned up. "Mister Remy, do you have a good reason for being late?" Alfie asked as she went over to the table that he was sitting at.

"Seeing that you are late you might as well take the flowers that have been picked during the time in between the full moon and the new moon, after you cut your Snap Dragon flowers from the plants over here. Do not pick more then 1/10th of the plant."

Alfie knew that Remy hadn't been there to hear that they where supposed to where Dragon hind gloves so this should be fun and teach him be on time.

Dru gathered her things and packed away her books and gloves, cradling her vase of flowers in one arm. She headed to the door, but slowly, curious to see how Remy was going to handle the snapdragons. She watched casually, leaning against the door jam.

Dream looked away from Dalejin as she heard a very familiar voice. She grinned as she watched Remy showed up, taking off his invisibility cloak. She watched him sit next to a very annoyed looking Slytherin first year. Dream couldn't help but grin as she saw Remy mess the girl up from what she was doing. Remy was really good at doing that. Dream felt bad for the girl but she seemed alright. Dream heard the professor say that they could leave and then she heard the professor tell Remy to pick some of the snapdragons. She gathered up her things and saw that Remy didn't have any gloves so on her way out of the room, she handed her pair to him. "Put these away for me when you're done, babe ok?" she said to him before walking out of the room.

Remy walked up to the plant and grinned as he grabbed dreams gloves. "um ok" he said as he held them in his hand. He watched as the plant snapped at him and he remembered something taht the professor had said. She had wanted him to not pick more then 1/10th of the plant but remy was not so good at math. He stared at the plant and decided to freeze it first but then decided against it. He looked at hte professor and smiled "hey professor how many is ten percent of 7 he said not knowing waht to do.

"Mister Remy," Alfie said, "if that plant has only 7 flowers then look at another Snap dragon plant. You will find that there are a lot of them here. Oh and do you want me to put up those gloves for you?"

Alfie was hoping that just once she could catch Remy off guard and he would not remember or know that he needed the Dragon Hide gloves for the Snap Dragons. If he had forgotten there would not be to many people to see it but just enough that it might teach him to be on time.

"huh gloves, no its alright i can put them up myself" he said without thinking about it then smiled. "ha, ha she said put them on, dream didnt want me to put them on she wanted me to put them away" he said to himself. Remy looked for a plant that only had 10 leaves but there wasn't any and he was really bad at math, he was going to give up when he saw one that had exactly 10. He reached his bare hand out to grab the plant a huge smile upon his face.....
