Anne McCaffrey is such a talented author! I mean, the descriptions in her books is just awesome!! For anyone who really likes dragons, she is the perfect author to read!! Here are some of her Dragonriders of Pern novels:

These books are about a colony started on a newly colonized planet, PERN, and their troubles and how they adapted, etc. (well the first ones, anyways). The later ones are about the lives of the people, the dragons, and the dragonriders. In these books, the dragons have been bred from using a native species already on the planet, called firelizards, and adapting them. The dragons were created for one main purpose: to fight thread, long destructive strings of who knows what that fall from the sky. If left to burrow into the ground, they can begin to destroy and kill everything around them. The dragon's firebreath can kill them, hence why they're needed.

Yes they are!! I looooove them sooooo much!! :D These books include so much interaction with the dragons, and they are sooo awesome!!! :D

I've jsut started reading the series and am really enjoying them. So far I've only read the first three. But I'm definatly going to read the others. Have you read Freedom's landing, Freedom's Choice and Freedom's Challenge? They are great! I haven't read the fourth one in that series but I've heard it wasn't one of her best.
