Harry Potter: Stereotypical Hero Guy??

stereotypical: lacking spontaneity or originality or individuality

hero: a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities

I think he is! The only really original quality in Harry is that he looks like a nerd! :loveharry: Hee Hee, nerdiness is cool. ;)

he has a scar too <_< . every character everywhere is a stereotype to some degree. Ron is the comic releif guy, Hermione the nerd. etc.

Too true . . . Oh and I forgot about his scar!

Anyway . . . I'm in a pick on Harry mood so leave me alone!
For one thing the usual hero character is always destined to save the world *cough*prophecy*cough*, he is alwasy thinking about others rather then himself (which I find very annoying . . . 'cause I have the opinion that everyone is self centered), he is naturally good at kicking arse (why can't we have a sucky heor :( ) and he has sidekicks :P HAH

And it isn't helped when he's played by a rubbish actor

hey i like paying out dan <_<

So yeah, i guess he is stereotypical. Dumbledore is stereotypical. like, in a massive, MAJOR way. and he dies, which is very stereotypical. leaves harry alone, see. very conveniant. <_<

Then make a 'Bash Dan Over the Head' Thread :P

So true! Are the mentors always kinda crazy though? Hmmm . . . I guess they are but you can also get just plain wise old ones.

Maybe i will :P

Usually the Mentors have their quirks... Gandalf was a bit odd in LoTR.

True . . . but DD was bordering on crazy! Or maybe he was just going senile due to old age

you've been reading to many daily prophets Shonk.

tut tut. :P

yeah, i think he's a little bit stereotypical, but not totally. Theres afew things about his that are original, obviously the scar, but also his direct link to the bad guy and his somewhat lack of respect to most authority. (sneaking around, ignoring teachers etc)
i liked DD, he seemed to relaxd all the time (prob due to the fact he was the most powerfull wizaerd of the era, thats gotta put a chip on your shoulder.) and i thought he was actually quite funny. Some of the DD things would make me laugh abit when i was reading. (not as much as Ron, but still...)

I think every character is a bit steryotypical in some way. Harry is to i suppose.
