Emma Potter - July 3, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
Emma placed this book back into the library..donating it for use of Transfiguration, hoping other students could learn from it and use it. She had left many pages blank so the students could write down other spells besides the ones she had already written.

Insructions:
1. Make sure that the spells you are posting in here have not already been mentioned.

2. Please put page numbers at the bottom if each page!

3. Enjoy this book..it is for Transfiguration only.

4. Hopefully this book will be useful in any future Transfiguration classes!

Transfiguration: Book Of Spells

Homorphus Charm:

Description: Causes an Animagus or transfigured object to reassume its normal shape.
Etymology: Most likely from Latin homo, "a human", (or Greek homos, "same") and Greek morphę (μορφή), "shape".

Switching Spells:

Description: These are a class of spells which change items from one thing into another. This is the major branch of Transfiguration. It is not clear whether there are a number of related spells for different types of switching or whether it is all done with a single spell, as no details of this are given.

Transforming Spells:

Description: A close relative of Switching Spells, this class of charm is used to change living creatures (as opposed to items) from one thing into another. This is the other major branch of Transfiguration. It is not clear whether there are a number of related spells for different types of transformation.

Wandless Magic:

Description: Traditionally, magic requires a wand to be used, although this is not always the case. There are frequent examples of wandless magic throughout the books, and so it seems reasonable to assume that whilst the wand is a useful (and often vital) channel for magical power, gifted wizards can successfully cast spells without it when necessary. The more advanced the magic, the more difficult it is to cast without a wand, however, and there have been no examples of advanced spells being cast wandlessly.

Inanimate Transfiguration

Inanimate transfiguration is used to change an inanimate object into some other inanimate object or to change it into a living creature.
This form of transfiguration is often found to be the easiest and is usually one of the first taught in schools.

Animate Transfiguration

This form of transfiguration is used to change animate objects into inanimate objects or into other animate creatures.
Most people find this slightly more difficult then inanimate transfiguration this does not mean that it should be avoided.

Human Transfiguration

This spell is the only spell needed for human transfiguration, because while you can make a human into an animal or some inanimate object you can not make an animal or a chair for instance into a human. This spell is an extremely advanced spell which is only taught in advanced classes. Many people find this very difficult though there are some people who are born with a talent for this form of transfiguration.

These people are different from Metamorphmagus's, because these people are simply gifted with connection of magic and the body which allows them to change their form more easily.

Metamorphagus

This is a rare gift that is present at birth but may not be discovered until the human is older. It is when someone can change their appearance in part or whole to another human appearance. However, these people must still use human transfiguration to become animals and inanimate objects.
