I don't know how many people have read Terry Goodkind's "The Sword of Truth" series, but I have to say that I absolutely love the ones I've read so far!! Which are:
Wizard's First Rule
Stone of Tears
Blood of the Fold
Temple of the Winds
Soul of the Fire
Faith of the Fallen
Pillars of Creation
And I am going to be on "Naked Empire" real soon!! I'm also interested in reading the next one after that, "Chainfire."
Does anybody else read these novels????
those sound interesting...well, going by the title :P , and i think i might have seen them in the library before in the fantasy section. could you tell me a bit more about them? and are they a series or all independent books? which one should i start with?
i've still got plenty ahead of me......currently have book 2 - 5 from the series " a series of unfortunate event" and a stephen king book with 4 stories in it checked out so i have to tackle those first. but they don't take me long. especially the unfortunate events one. the first one i had through in a night, but if the next ones don't get better than the first i might not even read them all. but there's already a thread about this series so i'll stop rambling...
but i'ld love to know a little more about the books you named, coldfire. but don't give anything big away :D
Ok these books all go together as one series, except for Debt of Bones, which is in the same series, but written as kind of a stand alone. If you want to read them, you should start with Wizard's First Rule, which is the first one.
The books are about a man named Richard Cyphers. At the start he is just an ordinary guy, and lives as a tracker in a small village. Then his world is turned upside down, and he later finds out that he is a wizard, and a very powerful one at that. He meets many allies along the way, including Kalahn, the Mother Confessor (Confessors are a group of women who have magical powers; Kalahn is their leader) He also has to go up against many enemies, including Darken Rahl and Jang Gang (sp?). It is a series full of bravery, love, courage, and will power. I immediately fell in love with the characters in this book.
Wait, I foud a synopsis of the first book at Terry Goodkind's website (http://www.terrygoodkind.com):
In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help…and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.
In a dark age when it takes courage to live, and more than mere courage to challenge those who hold dominion, Richard and Kahlan must take up that challenge or become the next victims. Beyond awaits a bewitching land where even the beat of their hearts could betray them. Yet, Richard fears nothing so much as what secrets his sword might reveal about his own soul. Falling in love would destroy them - for reasons Richard can't imagine and Kahlan dare not tell him.
In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan cals upon Richard to reach beyond his sword - to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed…or that their time has run out.
Hopefully that helps anyone to understand a little of what the books are about. If not, let me know and I will try to explain it better.
that wasa perfect description and enough to get me interested enough to try out the first one soon :).(that sounded strange, but my tired brain doesn't know how to word it any better at the moment ). thanks so much for your reply and looking all that up!
Thanks SiRiUsLyAdDiCtEd! And you're welcome for all that info!! It was worth it if I got someone interested in the books, even though it didn't take all that long to look up! :D
