Haïrie froze. Her had brushed against the place where her finished homework had once been. This couldn't be happening. She began to panic, her mind raced. The bed! Under the bed she thought. It had to be there. It had simply rollen off of the nightstand and was under the bed. That had to be it. But as she raised the blankets and peered worriedly underneath, she knew it wasn't true. She quickly stood up, hitting her head hard on the corner of her nightstand and spilling a bottle of ink. Not that she took any notice to this as she ran around her room, ignoring the pain. Ripping open drawers, shoving books away, disrupting curtains and bed sheets, she began to make a complete mess of her otherwise neatly kept room. All the while, one million possible scenarios turned over in her mind and blood trickled down her face. Her grade depended on this homework and knowing it was lost gave her a sick, sad, feeling through her stomach. Class started in 2 minutes. It took 4 minutes to get there running so she had given up on all hope of making it on time. She was just about ready to give up all hope for a passing grade too when she heard a light knock at the door. "Come in" she said, fighting back the tears as they threatened to fill her eyes.
Mark had dozed off in front of the fire in the common room again, but was awoken by the sound of a large bang, then alot of scuffeling from one of the dorms. 'Who's dorm is that?' he thought to himself, he had'nt been in that dorm and was pretty sure it was empty until recently. He stod up and walked over to the door, and pressed an ear to it. It sounded as if some one was turning the whole place inside out. He listened for another second before knocking. A voice from inside the room told him to enter, so he slowly turned the handle and entered the room. A new first year gryffindor he didnt recognise stood there. "Hey, im Mark. Nice to meet you" He took a quick glance around the room, it looked as if a bomb had gone off in there. "Are you ok, anything i can help with?" he asked with a smile.
Haïrie looked up at the boy. She kept trying to hold back tears but as she began to speak, the battle was lost. "No, I am not ok" she said, a little angry that he would ask such a question after a look at her room and very embaressed to be crying in front of him. She lifted her right hand, the one not occupied by a pile of lose parchment, and wiped the tears from her face. She knew she should welcome this boy. It wasn't as if it was his fault she had lost her homework yet again. She knew he wanted to help and so, she took a deep breath and attempted to explain the mess she had made. "umm...Well, you see, I left my homework here" she said quickly, gestering to her bed-side table. "And now it's gone and I don't know what to do but I have to because if I don't I'll fail, and it's gone, gone gone, I can't find it. I looked everywhere!" She had begun to yet again panic. Her voice getting higher, her speech getting faster. "...And I really like it if you could...you know...maybe please help me find it. Ha, look, I don't even know you and I'm asking you for help. Wonderful. Oh look now!" She took many deep breaths. After freaking out on the poor boy, she expected nothing less then to have him leave her now. She just hoped he would find her homework first :D
