I may have missed something completely obvious, but why couldnt harry see the thestrals in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th FILMS. I say this because in the First FILM harry is consious to see proffeser Quirrel die, whereas in the book he is unconcious at the time.
I know the films havnt focused on the coach journeys to hogwats from the station at all. As far as we know he might already be able to see them in the film versions, but if he acts surprised when he sees them pulling the coaches at the start of the fifth film than it would seem odd. (to me at least :lol: )

Well, that's true, but I bet you thousand galleons (though I don't have such money.) that he's gonna be surprised about the thetrals in the fifth movie...
He also was there when the basilisk died in both the books and the movie. Or had I read it wrong?
I don't know WHY J.K. Rowling sold the movie rights... It just ruins the story!

I dont know about that. I think the movies are pretty good. obviously they had to change afew things for them to work properly, but you had to know such a sucsessful book series would be turned into films in the end.

It doesn't matter who makes a movie, Rowling herself could do and parts would still have to changed and left out! To make a movie exactly like a book would take hours to watch, and wouldn't make any money because all the boring parts would be left in!!

I think the only way that they could film the HP books and fit in most of the plot details would be to do each book as a multi-part mini-series for TV. Then if each book ran for one TV season, they would have about 12 hours or so for each book.
I don't know if there would be any profit in it, but I'd be happy to watch!

Actually if this new director for the OOP is following the books it's pretty simple why Harry never saw thestrals until now, he didn't witness anyone kicking the bucket! But if we take a step back and remember in the Goblet of Fire, he watched Cedric Diggory take the avada kedavra to the kisser!! Now he can see the thestrals!
