Title: Deathly Hallows Book Covers
Professor Rogue - March 29, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
I just got done posting this on
our websiteEarlier this morning the cover art for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was revealed on the 'Today Show.' Both Bloomsbury and Scholastic web sites have been updated with the art.
- US Edition
is shown here- Entire book jacket
is shown here -UK Edition
is shown hereOn the back of the UK Edition, the flap says this:
Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him with? Any thoughts on this? What do you think about the covers? Do they give us any more clues as to what the book is about?

WOO For Book Cover . . . The US edition Harry's give me the creeps for some reason. Also am I the only one who thinks the UK editions Ron looks disturbingly like Rupert.  AND OMG IS THAT DOBBY WITH A SORD!! EVERYONE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!
Anyway that symbol on the jacket strip of the UK edition is certaintly interesting.

peeves - March 29, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
The book jacket is cooler, but I the only thig it gives away (and we already knew this) is that Voldemort and Harry are forced to say ello again (well we all should have known that.) But I can't see thw whole thing though... so yeah...
Twilight - March 30, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
I really like the picture of Harry on the US cover. In the one on the UK cover, I think he looks sort of like Clark Kent. And I agree that Ron looks a lot like Rupert on the UK cover.
What is that picture of the snake in the egg (or whatever it is) on the back of the UK cover about?
Shonk Da 'Onk - March 30, 2007 08:31 AM (GMT)
Dunno . . . but whatever it is i want one :)
REMY-SALINAS - March 30, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
maybe its the rebirth of slytherin :P. Oh and um why do Harry and Voldemort both have there hands up instead of at each other anyhoo i can't wait to get my hands on this book and i love the stag on flap jacket of the uk edition i wonder if that will have a part in the story or if it was just placed there?
singsong42 - March 31, 2007 04:46 AM (GMT)
I hav nothing really to say about the covers but I've already PRE-ordered a couple books!!! Pre-Order at Chapters get 20% off!!! Sorry... I had to say it!
nikita - March 31, 2007 07:04 AM (GMT)
there's a lotta discussion about the triangle shown on the spine...
n has anyone noticed the slytherin's locket is SILVER?! isn't it supposed to be GOLDEN?!!
singsong42 - March 31, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
Well I think that's bacause the artist doesn't really act upon the little things to change them. Such as colors, because they aren't the most important thing to him or her.
Shonk Da 'Onk - April 1, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
Ugh it is silver . . . the ring was gold not the locket.
WHAT THE!! Colour is one of the most important things when doing an image . . . if you dont have the right colurs then it can throw out the entire image and anyway . . . changing the colour of the locket wouldn't have been a smart thing to do anyway. I doubt it would matter to much to the image per se . . . but blegh . . . i'll shut up coz I probably aint making much sense

Shonk Da 'Onk - April 8, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
So . . . anyone think Alladins 'Cave of Wonders" when theyr saw the UK book cover . . . 'cause that's what first thought  Blergh I watch too much disney. :P
singsong42 - April 8, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
I did too actually... But I don't watch that much of it anymore... But if I stare too long at anything I can think up anything odd... For example I was looking at my GOF poster a while back and all of a sudden I was wondering how Emma would look in a tube top and short shorts... Not seeing how that relates though...
Shonk Da 'Onk - April 8, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
 Ok thank you NOT for that mental image! I can't satnd Emma . . . she's driven me batty since the 3rd movie.
Oh well glad I'm not the only one.
singsong42 - April 8, 2007 04:19 AM (GMT)
Sorry... That image'll probubly be stuck with you for some time... And anyone else who reads my post... dang... maybe I should edit it out lol
Shonk Da 'Onk - April 8, 2007 11:21 AM (GMT)
Yes very bad mental image.
Anyway off topic. Ugh book covers. Well I think they are ugly . . . but I haven't seen a harry potter book cover I have liked yet so . . . whatever. Good books bad book covers I guess.
Twilight - April 10, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
I'm not crazy about any of the covers, either, Shonk. Maybe you could do alternative covers for us? I'd be happy to print 'em off and put 'em on my books!
Shonk Da 'Onk - April 10, 2007 06:02 AM (GMT)
LAMO . . . as if. I'm too lazy for that. Unless you want a tsick figure or something :P
Twilight - April 12, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
I know you're too lazy, but maybe someday, when you're really, really, really bored, you'll decide to do it. Until then, the rest of us can only wait and hope!
Shonk Da 'Onk - April 12, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
I doubt it . . . Desiging book covers would require me to also do backgrounds of some sort which I avoide like the plague so :P ain't going to happen.

The UK edition kind of scares me. I like the US one better. It's kinda got the yellow and orange color theme going on. It's pretty awesome.
Henry Bridge - May 18, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
What's the UK version look like?
Ez-Bake oven - August 7, 2008 08:20 AM (GMT)
