Dusty walked into the back room and through another door carefully looking around to see if anyone had seen her go through the door. Once she walked in she looked to make sure all her scientific stuff was in the room where she needed it at. She wentover to the left wall and got down a big book and opened it up knowing that she will need to make more of her special sobering up formalin for some of the customers. She then went to the chest of drawers and took out a cat that she had flown over from Her home Town a teacher now retired left her in charge of his cat and gave her the secret of how to keep it preserved. She knew that the stuff used was also drinkable. She had been drinking it for years. She had finally figured out that if you were drunk it made you sober up and not have a hangover the next morning. She read the book. "Ok where did I leave that Syringe?" She asked herself.

Dusty started to put together all the ingredients needed for her special sober formalin. She also was using this time to make different kinds to keep colds and allergies away. She knew that this room was special and used for testing which she did on herself.

Mark had been wandering around The hogs head aimlessly for a few minutes when he noticed one of his fellow student; Dusty. She walked over to one of the staff room doors and looked around shadily to make she she wasnt being watched. Mark dived behind an old suit of armour in the corridor so that he wouldnt be seen. If Dusty wanted the room to be a secret it must have been worth checking out!
After she entered he tip toed over to the door and pressed his ear against it... but nothing. Either the door was extremely think or there wasnt much going on inside. "Well i guess ill just have to knock" he mumbled, rather dissapointadly to himself. He wondered how annoyed she would be about a student being in the back room, but raised his hand up to the door before knocking afew times and waiting for a responce.

Dusty heard aknock. "Come in." SHe said as she straightened up from trying to figure out the new combo she was working on. She stored the cat away in the special freezer as the door was opening.

Mark slowly opened the door and entered, the room was amazing, with scientific equipment everywhere. "Hey, Your a student at Hogwarts too right? Do you work here aswell?" Mark had seen the Girl around school but hadnt been formaly introduced yet. "Anyway, the names Mark," He took a couple of steps closer to the girl when introducing himself. "Sorry to bother you, ive been walking around for a while now and could see anyone around." He took another quick glance around the strabge room "What you up to in here?" he asked cheekily.

"HI Mark Im Dusty." She said "Yes I do go to HOgwarts. As far as work here I actually own this place." She saw he was looking at the scientific equipment. "As to what I am doing in here well.. Im making up a batch of Formalin. I also come here to work on different kinds like the sobering formalin i have, and right now Im trying to work one up to help get rid of colds and allergies." She hoped she didnt sound like a total science geek.

Mark smiled as Dusty introduced herself. "You own the place? very impressive" he said with his eyebrows raised. Dusty then went on to explain the things she was brewing. Mark was no stranger to things like this, his Father was a Healer in St. Mungos so he was used to being around such concoctions. His Mother was even a doctor in the muggle world, so she had 'potions' of soughts around her. "Wow. Im actually really interested in all this kinda stuff. I wanna be a Healer when im older, just like my dad" he replied. "Is that why you got into it? future career plans and that?"

Dusty chuckled. "Kinda.. See before I came here I was studying to be a Veterinarian but when my magical ablities got out of control I discovered i needed to be somewhere i can work on my abilities. What got me into Formalin was a old muggle teacher i had who left me his dead cat after he retired knowing i could use it to do tests and stuff.." She said looking at Mark. "Your folks are Doctors. I grew up around animals my aunt is a vet."

Mark raised an eyebrow at Dusty. "A dead cat? that really helps you make your potions?" he asked with a slightly surprised tone to his voice. He looked around the room but couldnt see said cat, which he was slightly relieved about to tell the truth.
"My dad never mentioned a dead cat, when he talks about work" mark joked. "But i bet being a witch vet is cool. There must be all kinds of amazing creatures out there!" him mind wandered. Maybe he'd just discovered a second career option if being a doctor didnt take his fancy.

"Yes the cat does help.." Dusty said wondering how insane Mark though she was now. "See the Marcia FORD is preserved in Formalin. So the smell that she has helps me know if the Formalin I brew is done or not if it smells like her then I need to start over and adjust things." Dusty started writting down on a piece of paper the stuff she was using so she could change something. "IF the smell is the same for the cat and the drink then it doesnt help.. Plus the fluid in her bag is the main ingredient in my drink." She hoped she explained it clear enough for him. "Yes working with animals is fun My aunt worked with magical but Im not yet skilled enough to even attempt trying to turn into those. My parents both work in the muggle clinics. Which is why I grew up with my Aunt after they found out about my powers." She looked at Mark wondering if she confused him.

Mark tried to take in all that Dusty was saying to him. "So you smell the dead cat to see if the formalin is ready?" he asked with a raised eyebrow, the concept seemed very strange to him. "And you use some syuff from the cats bag? whats the cats bag mean?" he wondered if he was coming across as stupid, but the things seemed slightly alien to him.

Dusty decided to get the cat to show Mark what she was talking a bout. "I keep the cat in a bag so that no formalin leaks out." Dusty said as she brought the bag out of the fridge but kept it close.

"oh....yeah.....i see that now" he said at the unexpected sight. "So if i get this right, you drink liquid that comes out of a bag with a dead cat in it?" he asked trying to be open minded about the matter. He took a step closer to the cat in the bag ans asked. "So do you make afew different things with this liquid or just the one formalin?" he asked, eager to find out as much as he could about this strange science.

"Yes mark so far I figured out how to make Formalin that sobers you up after getting really drunk." Dusty said "As well as right now trying to figure out how to do one that gets rid of colds and allergies.. Thats the one Im having problems with.. Unfortunatly I cant get rid of the headache side effect that comes from the regular Formalin." Dusty looked at Mark wondering why he was so interested. "IF you want you can help me work on these."

Mark smiled at the offer from Dusty. "Sure, i'd love to help." he walked over to where she was stood with the cat. "What do you want me to do then?" he asked with an air of enthusiasm in his voice. His desire to be a healer after he graduated, made him eager to learn anything and everything about the human body.

"Umm well lets see." Dusty said "We need beakers and those thingies they sit on." Dusty hoped that Mark knew what she was talking about cause she couldnt remember for the life of her what they were called. "They should be over in the cupboard."

Mark walked over to the cupboard the Dusty pointed at and grabbed a couple of beakers "Do you mean tripods?" he asked to her mention of the thing beakers stand on. he pulled a couple of those out too. He walked back over to where she was and set them uo witht he beakers on top of the tripods. "So what we making now? something to help people with coughs and colds did you say?"

"Yes." Dusty said. "to both those questions. and Thanks.. Now what we need to do is ummm........... hold on." Dusty went and looked for a book that she kept hidden here. " Here we are.. We need to put a drop of Formaldehyde into each beaker then its pretty much guess work." Dusty said. " I use a drop to begin with that way if one works and the others dont the oens that wont work do no harm." Dusty took some droppers out and handed one to Mark.

"Oh ok. Why is methanal/formalin/Formaldehyde (OoC: i think these are all the same thing right?) the key ingerdient to it all?" he asked as he picked up a dropper and added a drop to afew breakers he had balanced on tripods.
Mark was the potions professor at Hogwarts so thought he might be able to think up some kind of working brew. "Anything in particular you usually add? is it usually things from the muggle or wizarding world?"

"Ummmm" Dusty said trying to think of a answer. "I usually just mix anything i can think of like for example i might mix cough syrup in this batch with a charm on it. My sobering up is made with a spell that lasts for a while." Dusty wasnt used to having questions asked about how it was made. She still wasnt sure why she started in the first place.

Mark heard Dusty say he could use prety much anything. "Ok, free licence then" he said with a grin. He rummaged in the cupboards to see what he could find, he filled his arms with different kinds of supplies and placed them next to his tripod and beakers of formalehyde.
"Hmmm" he said as he thought aloud and scratched his chin. he picked up some syrup, added it, then heated it gently, thew in a couple of mint leaves and tapped it with his wand. The potion began to make a coughing noise itself. "Thats probably not a good sign!" he said with his eyebrows raised.

Dusty giggled a little at Mark. "You never know. Remember different things have different reactions." She said as she added some gateraide to her batch with some sunflower oil and a maple leaf. Her brew just started to steam a little while she heated it to ma ke it all mix better.

Mark looked down at dusty as she said you never know, it was still coughing in a congested, ill kind of way. "I suppose it could be making the noise of the ailment it cures?" he guessed as he shrugged his shoulders. "How do you test them out then? is there a spell or do we have to try and find voulanteers?" Mark laughed at this, he just imadgine walking round diagon alley asking student to try a potion he had just invented. Even if he was the potions professor he doubted anyone would trust him.

Dusty thought before she answered Marks question. "Well I used to test them on myself but after the fact that i was spending way too much on headache meds i decided to find a charm that works." She said then she stoped to make sure she had the spell correct in her head. " The spell I use conjures up a human that has the ailment im making the brew for. Although after testing a few times i write down the formula for each one i have in a book that i keep in the closet so that i can find it and that way since i know its theright ones i dont test the usual formalins i brew just the new ones. The one spell if said correctly will bring up different people now based on their reaction we know if we did the thing correctly. To start we think of what we are brewing the formalin for then we say agreo humanoids." With that She flicked her hand and her test subject appeared. Then with another flick that subject dissappeared. "To get rid of them just flick your wand again."

mark looked on as dusty conjured two hologram humans who were coughing and wheezing in the corner. He grabbed ladel and poured abit of his potions into a cup. He walked over to one of the hollograms and stopped infront of it. "Sorry about this" he joked with a grin as he poured some of the potion into his mouth. The hologram stopped coughing for a second, Mark turned to dusty and smiled, but it seemed the celebration was slightly premature. The hologram began coughing in a horrible deep voice that seemed to shake the room each time. "I guess not" he said turning slightly red in the face. He waved his wand and the hologram dissapeared. "Back to the drawing board" Mark sighed as he pulled another beaker from the cupboard and poured in some formaldehyde.

"See Your getting it" Dusty said as she watched him test his first batch. She took her first batch and handed it to the hologram which had no pr oblems with her brew except for a bit of a sour face. "Ok need to add something to cover up the sourness of all that." She took her second batch that she had made at the same time and pu t some mint into it and let it steep for a bit. "Oh dont forget to let it cool these can be both hot and cold."

Cara walked dizzily into a back room and fell over onto the floor. once she gained her composure, she looked around and saw Mark and Dusty there. Cara grinned up at them and said "sorry, I just got hit by a poor curse thrown at me by a seventh year and it knocked me off balance, I fell into a wall, got even more dizzy and then found myself in here. by the way, where id here?" Cara explained and asked as she looked bewilderdly around her.

Dusty turned at hearing a voice realizing who it was. "Hey Cara." SHe said. "Your in the room where all my Formalin is brewed at." DUsty turned back to her brew and took it down to give back to her hologram test subject.

Cara's facelit up and she eyed the stuff in the room. Cara always loved potions and she was really good at them. Cara excelled in all her potions classes and she even made advanced spells in her spare time. Cara got a maniacle look on her face as she eyed the room again.

"Cara dont go too crazy." Dusty said seeing her look. "We are trying to make more formalins to help different ailments." She looked at Mark. "Hey Mark since IM unable to make it to your class all the time could this be considered homework/extra credit for me?"

"I dont see why not" mark replied to Dustys question. "But even if you cant go regualarily you should still drop into the classroom from time to time, i try make it as practical as possible, so you'll probably ace it!" he said with a smile.
He went about making a new potion to try and cure a cough, he mixed the same ingredients as last time except heating them slightly and adding some cornish pixie dust. The potions looked bright yellow and hummed quietly. "Looks interesting" he said with a small laugh "Now to test it out!"

Emma heard her friends laugh at her joke as she stood up from the table.."I'm going to go the the restroom real quick..ok?" she said, flashing a grin. On her way to the restroom, she noticed a door thats had a sign on that said "Back Room". Hearing voices coming from inside it, she opened the door and walked through. Startled by the smell of potions, she walked in even further seeing Mark, Dusty and Cara halfway standing up. Confused, she looked at Mark.."Do I even want to know?" she asked flashing him her beautful smile, laughing. Sniffing the air.."From what it smells like, you guys are making a....formalin?" she asked, walking over to stand beside Mark.

"Hey Emma." Dusty said as her test subject finally was able to drink and have no side effects. "Yes we are making Formalins This is where I come to try different kinds."

Cara watched Mark carefully, not knowing what to expect. She started and turned around and glared at Emma. "Hullo Emma." She said stiffly. She looked around the room again, trying to distract herself from the thoughts going through her head.

Mark looked round at the door as Emma entered "Hey Em. yeah were just trying out some new inventios, some more sucesful" he pointed over at Dusty "than others" he said pointing at himself.
"feel free to join in, the more potions the better chance we have of making something that actually works!"

Emma returned Cara's glare.."It's nice to see you to Cara!" she said..Emma grabbed some of the materials to make her potion..and sat right in front of Mark and Dusty..making a triangle shape. She began mixing some ingredients..to start making her formalin. She looked around at Mark's potion..it wasn't exactly the right color.."Umm..Mark what kind of ingredients did you put in, because that isnt looking very good!" she said with a little smile.

"What you mean it dosnt look very good? do you have any idea what the formalin i made is supposed to cure?" he asked with a slight laugh. "bearing in mind im the potions master, im pretty sure that if i put my mind to it i could come up with someting useful" he grinned as he looked down to his potion. "But its much more fun to just add some ingredients and hope that it works."

"Thats what I do." Dusty said. "I mean yea i have a little Formalin from a dead cat involved in mine." She looked at Marks potion. "Umm Mark you did had the formalin right?" She took her allergy formalin and start to fix what needed to be fixed in the book she write the recipes in.

Remy walked into the room and seeing mark, dusty, emma, and cara and smirked. "oops excuse me i was looking for the boys bathroom, I must have taken a right when i should have taken a left he blushed as he finished. He looked at the stuff around him and grinned "umm what exactly are you guys doing? he asked the group in front of him.

"Hey Remy." Dusty said as she bottled up her finished Formalin and made sure the recipe was correct in the book. "You know all the different kinds of Formalin I use? Well this is where I make them." She looked at the others. "They all wanted to get in on the formalin making process too. Would you like to join us?" She got out some more formalin from Trisha F.O.R.D and started to write in the book for another recipe.
