Leona walked up to the owlery to hang out with someone who enjoyed her company. That of course was her owl Artemis. When she got there she realized that Artemis wasn't there...Then...she did....Artemis was flying back to the owlry. OMG! Leo thought. dan's writing me! she wanted to cry. Then she got the letter and saw it was from someone she didn't know which made her want to cry for all the wrong reasons. She looked at the Letter. It was addressed from Plonk. That's odd, she thought. The only Plonk she knew was from Shonks. She opened the letter and read it. It was a very late condolences letter. He said that he was sorry to hear about the death of...his sister, Marsella...That was her mom...which would...She nearly fell back...That would make Shonks, her cousin! Of ALL the people...she thought to her self. A girl with aspirations of world domination.....

Almost as if it were afate, Shonk suddenly stormed into the owlery looking quite furious. She spotted Leona over by one of the windows but made no comment or gesture of hello and instead stalked past the girl, over to where her owl, Strix, sat sleeping.
"Wake up you blastered bird," she snapped as she waved a letter in the owls face.
Strix gave a weak hoot while blinking a few times at her and then he turned his back and nodded back off to sleep.
"STRIIiiiIiiX," Shonk whined as she continued to wave her letter but the bird made no response.

"Shonks!" Leo shouted, "thank goodness you're here!" I just got the Letter, from your father!" She said somewhat quickly then handed her the letter to see what she do. Leona feeling nervous began petting Artemis. she had been feeling very fidgety.

Shonk glared at Leona for daring to interupt her rant at her owl but snatched the letter away from her anyway. Skimming the rather sloppy handwriting Shonk spyed nothing that was of any interest to her and she thrust the letter back at Leona having not even read it properlly.

"Why are you showing me this?" she snapped as she returned o whacking Strix over the head with her letter.

Leona glanced up at her then read it aloud. When she had finished, "you see, it turns out we're cousin, your father, is my mother's brother, my uncle...apparently," She said, but it seemed that Shonks wasn't paying attention to her. She hoped that she was. She didn't really care to repeat herself.

Strix, having finally gotten fully woken up, screached unhappily made to bite Shonk who luckily pulled away from the bird just in time. Glaring at her pet she held out her letter again and Strix after another angry screech snapped up the letter and took off without a second glance.

"Stupid owl," she grumbled as she watched him fly off.

Now rid of her burden Shonk finally diverted her attention to a rather nervous looking Leona. "Ugh what was that you just said?"

Leona threw her hands into the air. "Are you SERIOUS!" She blinked. "You, and me are cousins!" She said holding out the paper for her to read correctly. Every time she was around shonks she felt like being committed to a mental hospital. She stood there and waited for Shonks to acknowledge what she had said.

Shonk snorted. "Leona you haven't been taking dud potions again have you?" she asked as she looked dubiously at the other girl. “All my cousins are still running around with their toilets stuck to their bums and their saliva dribbling down their faces and, as I’m sure you are glad to know, you do not look as though you have such.”

Snatching the paper away from her again Shonk lowered her eyes and read it properly. “Ok -,” she said after a few moments of glaring at the offending article, “- so my father has gone loopy again. Nothing-new there! If we were related I think at least one of us would have found out before now.”

Leona thought for a moment. "You know, I always suspected I had family I didn't know about. I refused to believe that I absolutely had NO family what so ever. No offence ut it's very possible that my father was ashamed of your father....My father was an @$$ like that," she said sounding very logical and reasonable. She leaned against the wall of the owlry and Athena began pecking her for a treat. She gave on to her then glanced over to Shonks.

Shonk pondered Leona's statement for a few moments before shaking her head. "I still think it's unlikely. It's one thing for your father to keep such information away from you but for my father to keep information away from me -" she laughed "- well unless I get definate proof I'd have to say that it's just some crackpot idea my father had, to try and get me to write to him. He always gets so depressed when I don't . . . still thinking I'm his little angel."

Leona thought for a moment, "How fast is your owl, and how far away is your father?" She asked seeing if there was a way to get definite proof minus the wait. Leo hated waiting. She was proud to admit that she came from the, must have it now generation...Hell, it's always better then the corset's make you pretty tripe, they had to go through nearly a century ago.

Shonk rolled her eyes in annoyance. Why did Leona want to be in her family so much anyway. They were all mad in Shonks opinion but then again she had never really paid them much attention to really find out. "I'm not writing to my father," she said with a sigh. "And anyway, Strix has already left with a letter and he probably won't be back any time soon."

"Ah," was all Leona said before she slumped against the wall in boredom. She was somewhat amazed that she was bored. What with the whole relation to the school cookie monster over there. She was probably right she decided. "I wonder how you're father knew to write to me..I've never talked to your family before, and I'm pretty sure you never mentioned me to them

Shonk frowned; she definitely had a point there. She never spoke to her family unless she wanted something that couldn't even obtain via stealth. "I don't know," she admitted. "Maybe he saw something in the obituaries . . . though that wouldn't explain how he knew you went to Hogwarts with me or anything."

Feeling thoroughly annoyed that she couldn’t figure out why her father would have written to the Gryffindor Shonk slumped against the wall beside her.

Suddenly Leo had an idea, "I can' believe I never thought of this before," she said out loud. She then rummaged into her robes and pulled out her wand, "Accio Peppercorn wedding album," Leona waited a few moments, then it came into her hands. She rummaged through it hurriedly. She flipped to the saved invitation and pointed in triumph. "there, see Marsella Plonk! How many people do you know with THAT last name!" she grinned...

"Marsella," Shonk began as she picked at a spot on her chin, "Never heard of her. Who is she anyway?"

Leona looked at her, "she was a doctor," she said looking down. "She married very young though...Apparently she was extremely in love with my dad."...she looks away feeling slightly raw
