Title: Version 4 is here!

Professor Rogue - January 3, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
As many of you have noticed, version 4 is here! To kick off the New Year and a brand new term, (term 4) I decided to make a new skin. The bright Christmas one was really growing on me. And the best thing about this one is that you can REALLY see the snow! Which was my goal from the very beginning, so tell me what you think about it!

Love it! I like being able to see the snow, and I really like designon the back ground. The light colored skin was really prety, but it was hard to read some of the different colored text too. I like this a lot!

Hey Rogue! Now I know what you were up to in the wee hours of the morning today... :P

Ahem. Your right, you can definately see the snow now. I was afraid at first that it was still her on accident, and then I spotted this thread and thought "Okay, never mind then!" It works, tis still the cold season, for some of us at any rate. And it is a fun way for you to show off those mad snow-dazzle skills of yours, isn't it? ;)

Otherwise, I'll tell you that I for one am happy to have a dark background back. It's just me, I like a darker feel to this sort of forum-- I always think of the real Hogwarts as having a darker feel, yet warm and welcoming. Your top picture is a nice combination, but it does make me think, "Oh, Dumbledore is reading thier minds and they're feelin' guilty about something!" Don't ask, could be thet I'm yet tired here...

As a side note, it's no bother really and still looks all right, but I thought you'd like to know that for those of us with wide screen computers, the text boxes ect of the forum extend beyond the limits of your pretty road (?) and dotted line centered backdrop way back there. It always has, and as I said makes no particular difference, but I thought you should be aware of it.

Over all, nice change up, I don't envy you the work you put into these forums, but I do appreciate the results! :wizard:

As much as i enjoyed the lighter skin, i too just love these darker skins a lot more. I love being able to see the snow and this darker skin makes the snow a whole lot easier to see. awesome job professor.

I did really like the light blue background during Christmas, but I so really like the black background better. It just seems more natural I guess. And I am so glad that you left the snow. Where I live we still haven't gotten any snow yet, so your falling snow in the background of the LC still gives me hope that I will get snow before winter is over! Well, thank you for all the hard work you put into the LC!!! We really appreciate it!

I like it Especially when the snow shows up.. it takes a while on my comp. like a full 2 mins for the snow to show up but i still like it Reg. Good job.

I like it. The light blue was fun, but the darker background is kind of cozy, and easy on the eyes. I like the font, too. It's neat!

Woops i posted about this in the wrong thread . . . my bad.

Anyway . . . I love the new skin. It looks excellent but I HATE IT
It loads extreamly slow for me. Did anyone else have this problem. It took like an hour for the main page at first . . . it's going faster now but still very slow compared to usual . . .

And I can't see no snow!! :(

EDIT: Ok It's snowing now . . .

Professor Rogue - January 5, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
I took the snow off temporary to see if that will improve the sit's performance. Does it Shonks for your computer? It may be different computers but for me it takes a few seconds for the site to load when I first come here and then it's fine after that and I'm using Windows XP. Is anyone else experiencing the boards being slow? And is it faster now?

Professor Rogue - January 5, 2007 11:32 AM (GMT)
Okay I've added the snow back. Instead, I took off the top sites links to see if that was the problem. Personally, when my pages are loading, it always hesitates when it's loading the top sites buttons, probably because they're graphics. But so far (at least for me) the site is improving.

On a different note, D.L. could you explain what you mean about the bars extending beyond the limits? Is that on the main page or a particular thread?

Shonk Da 'Onk - January 5, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
What to know something funny . . . well I think it's funny but weird.

Those orange dotty lines on the sides of the site here have somehow managed to get themselves on my desktop. They murdered my wallpaper and then took it's place! They make a very boring wallpaper just so you know. :P
