Okay, it's a small point, but one I was rather fascinated with. You guys ever note the difference in reaction by the twins in the book versus in the movie when crossing the age line grew them beards?

Okay, so if your looking for the specific text, You'll find it in chapter 16 of GoF, in the American page back version, pages 259-260.

In any case, the book tells a version, where, after taking small doses of aging potion both Fred and George cross the age line with their papers (Fred first with George following very closely behind). And then, to quote the text of JK Rowling in GoF on pg 260:
QUOTE
-- But  next moment, there was a loud sizzling sound, and both twins were hurled out of the golden circle as though they had been hurled by an invisible shot-putter. They landed painfully, ten feet away on the cold stone floor, and to add insult to injury, there was a loud popping noise, and both of them sprouted identical long white beards.

The entrance hall rang with laughter. Even Fred and George joined in, once they had gotten to their feet and gotten a good look at each other's beards.

“I did warn you,” said a deep, amused voice and everyone turned to see Professor Dumbledore coming out of the Great Hall.

Now, in the movie we have a similar scene of students putting their name in the Goblet, and Fred and George show up to test their luck. Its interesting, as they are again both flung from the area. However, it's the different reaction that gets me.

They both pop out with identical white beards (not terribly long) and white hair... and then proceed to get into a fantastic punch-em-up row with each other about the whole deal. And then Krum enters to place his name in the cup.

I was just thinking that, while I am most pleased that they even had this scene in the movie, I was a little disappointed that they could not keep it a little closer to book, if only for humor's sake. That, and missing those classic lines from Dumbledore about the twins having 'beards as fine' as theirs is a bit of a heart breaker. I know, a lot of things have to be cut from the movies and all, but the twins really should have laughed up the beard incident.

What do you think?

I was disappointed too. Don't get me wrong it was funny both times in the book and the movie, so I don't understand why they couldn't use the orignal. But the whole movie doesn't follow the book. That is why I was disappointed with the whole movie. The only two movies that actually somewhat followed the books were the first 2. So hopefully the next one will be better than the last.

I agree entierly on the movie business. There were parts I quite enjoyed, but more because, say with the dragons, the computer work was so pretty.

But sometimes it the details that realy get me, and Fred and George are classic as is!

I hope OotP the movie allows for a classic departure of them from Hogwarts, all though we allready know we're going to miss Peeves in that scene...

The problem is with the movies is that they try to make it more of an appeal than what may have actually happened in the book. I believe that they may think of it as that not very many people have read the book (Meaning as adults). I know that they are trying to make it a family movie for all to enjoy but when you have read the books, its hard to enjoy the movie when all you do is critize the movie itself.
