Title: D.L.'s Art Work
Description: CG'd creations by yours truly.
D. L. Button - November 25, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
Hey, I'm a part time puttering artist and I figured, what the heck, I could post some of my Harry Potter and Leaky Cauldron related artifacts to a thread here. It certainly isn't the best art in the world, but it keeps me entertained. Cheers!
---------------------------------------------------
These were created while I was in a mood to promote err, house nationalism? In anycase, it started out with just a Gryffindor Badge, but I felt inspired to make one for each house today and edited my post to reflect that. These are entierly created on the computer by your's truly. Specifically, in Paint Shop Pro X.

REMY-SALINAS - November 26, 2006 02:12 PM (GMT)
Great looking house badges D.L. they are unlike any i've seen :) can't wait to see more.
Sardine - November 26, 2006 06:07 PM (GMT)
Wow...nice! :)
I like the Ravenclaw one the best. The others are ok, but need better pictures im afraid ;)
The Hogwarts one is also pretty good.
Very original )
D. L. Button - November 27, 2006 05:35 AM (GMT)
Lol, thanks guys on the commentary!
Sardine, thanks also for the criticism. (Hey, you don't improve with out it, right?) Yeah, the images are not top quality of the animals, but they do all look the same genre at least. And to tell you the truth, I'm not feeling too horribly about those critters at the moment, as that was all drawn with mouse and Bezier curves. Not the most accurate or detailed method... I appreciate your concern all the same though. :P
Alisynne Noire - November 27, 2006 07:57 AM (GMT)
I actually like them. Yeah, the animals are kinda cartoony looking but I think that's what makes them cute. Plus, having no art talent of my own, I'm easily struck in awe by someone who puts that much work into it.
D. L. Button - November 27, 2006 06:42 PM (GMT)
Well... I don't know that I'd say I put that much work into them... Lol. Oh well, it was the idea that counted, right? Sure.
Anyway, next set, yeah?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, these were created, also on a whim, that each house could give awards for whatever challenges they choose to issue with in the house. All right, so maybe not... but in any case, I did decide to go through and finish these, with a Gold, Silver, and Bronze award for each house. The Picture above them would be the "Plaque" I origionally created and then played with for the viable colors.
Hey, if any folks in houses
DO want to use these, have at it! Otherwise they'll just sit here... Collecting dust...

| You think you could make me a CG Leo? |
I don't see why not... Give me a bit of time to have at it (school week 'an all) and I can see what I can do for you!
Though, do you want Leo the human form or Leo the Animgus? Both?
My humans are just as cartoony as the animals, if that's all right with you (at least, on the computer they sure are.)
------------------------------
Edit:
All right, so I played with this
instead of doing my Biology Lab... I'll get there yet B)
Leo, this is for you hun! Dunno if it's what you want, and your perfectly welcome to request something else, but this is what I was in the mood to do at the moment. Yup, just a head with your trademark pink hair. And, umm, eating the wand by the look of it. Hrm.
It's 100X100 pix, made in PSP X. Could be used as a Avi, I suppose...
mj - November 28, 2006 11:23 AM (GMT)
Wow... ur art is amazing... it's really cartoony but really cute! I can't do that type of stuff so I love looking at other peoples art. It's really awesome to me! U go! If u find the time could u ummm... make me a little characer person based on my bio? Ummm, only if you find the time that is... awesome work though!!!

Sure MJ. I'll give it a go. Dunno how you want that exactly, but mayhap I'll draw up a couple of versions of MJ for you. (I like the idea of the Ball gown with tennies in your siggy :P )
No worries if they don't appear right away. My schoolin' is demanding a bit of time at the mo' to make friggin flash movies (a pain in my behind, I assure you.) But, I am prone to skivving work every so often in favor of a fit of drawing.
Check back here every so often, but I'll be sure to PM you if I load something in your image.
--------------------------------------------------------
Lol, so much for homework. It's just a story board anyhow...
So, just a head this one (I'm on a roll with little head Avi type things lately. Even made my own!) If I come up with time and energy later, MJ, I'll make you up a whole person and edit it onto this post as well.
About the head, you said longish black hair, and that's what you got. I'm sorry if I took your personality the wrong way on the dark make up, but you seem such a Green Day fan that dark eyeshadow and lip stick just seemed to suit you! and.. a tongue sticking out
sailorleo - November 28, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
lol...how do you know i like to eat non eatble stuff! haha! (it's an inside joke....kitty likes to gnaw...is part of it...ah nevermind, is shuttign up now) and as far as who and what just do what you're inspired to do!
D. L. Button - November 29, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
Hey Leo! I got to thinkin' about this as I was browising your threads earlier and I really say you cold draw a portait of Leona better than I could. But you know, if you'd like I'd happily take such a drawing and do the color work for you if you'd like that :wizard: I could make it a transparent gif too, if you like the looks of those.
So, I can tell you I had way too much fun drawing this pretty Leona Lioness, pink tail and Gryffindor scarf and all. The transparent gif is with in the range of siggy banners, if you'd like to use it that way B)
However, as I know you really do enjoy making your own banners, I'm attaching a jpeg of the lioness sans text to this post and you are more than wecome to use that in whatever you play with if you'd like.
Enjoy! ^_^
sailorleo - November 29, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
im totally cute! can you send me the code for it....so i can paste it in my sig? just pretend to screw it up like add a letter at the end so i can see the text, if that makes sense.
Shonk Da 'Onk - November 30, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
Nice work DL, you should invest in a tablet! Makes life a lot easier. ^_^
D. L. Button - November 30, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks and the compliment, Shonkie!
Actually, I have a cheap tablet of sorts, $25.99 that one! I just get fed up with it a lot, and for the mo' I'm finding I have more delicate control with the mouse... Ironic as that sounds.
Shonk Da 'Onk - November 30, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
 Wow I couldn't stand having to go back to using my mouse again! I'm so attached to mine that my tablet is almost my best friend! I take it when I go on holidays and everything . . . now that must sound rather pathetic but thats me so :D
Then again my tablet cost about $200 (thank goodness I didn't pay for it) so it (had better) may work better then yours.
mj - November 30, 2006 08:10 AM (GMT)
DL I'm loving it! I wouldn't be sticking out my tongue though, lol. But the dark make up is very me don't worry! Yes, huge Green Day fan, lol. I live breath, eat, drink and...what ever else you can, Green Day!lol
Thankies alot! It's awesome! But...uhh, would it be a lot to as you if you could make the tongue disappear? I'm loving it though! Awesome work! YOU GO! ROCK ON!
D. L. Button - November 30, 2006 03:18 PM (GMT)

| But...uhh, would it be a lot to as you if you could make the tongue disappear? |
Not a problem B) I'll hop on that as soon as I get back to my home computer (School one is crappy here <_< )
Shonkie--- I envy you and your $200 dolllar tablet... I may just have to fight mine again and see if I can conquer her this time. Dunno.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Edit:
Mmmkay, MJ, try this on for size, yeah? Slightly different styling, and now she rather looks dead serious... but, hehe, she's still cute ^_^ .
Also, I got to playing with that Ball Gown of yours and the tennie shoes... Heh, I doubt this is the same style tennies you were refering too, or the same colors... (which I can still fix if your really adverse to them, hun ;) ). So, the result makes me laugh. Of course she's also sitting in a terribly un lady like position.
To those who keep track of such things... I cheated on these two, sorta. These were hand penned and then scanned in to be fussed with on the computer (had a long history period to draw in today...). As always, these were CG'd in Paint Shop Pro X, and had just a hint of work in Photoshop CS2.
Shonk Da 'Onk - November 30, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Brouhaha *hugs tablet*
Anyway . . . can I please have one of those avi heads :D I'll give you a cookie :cookie: My bio link if you need it:

Wow D.L. these are FANTASTIC! You are a very talented graphic maker. I have Paint Shop Pro 8 and PhotoShop, but I don't think I've ever created something like this, we can defaintly use your talent here at the LC for making avatars (which you recieve house points on) and other things. I might be contacting you one day because these are great. I might want to use one of your badges for an avatar or something, I'd have to resize it but still, these are really good.

Of course you can Shonkie! I'll go peek at your bio as soon as I can have at it and see what sort of mischief I can come up with :snoop:
Professor Rogue-
Thank you on the compliments! Yes, you are more than welcome to use any badges or awards or what not I have posted here-- I created them with this forum in mind after all and it would make my day to see them used here ;) Avi's or Sigs, It's all a mode of flattery in my book.
I'm more than happy to continue making Avitars for folks if they want them (as long as all have patients when needed, sometimes classes and work catch up to me...). And yes, if you have any simple/ cartoony graphic needs for LC (or other really) purposes, feel
free to contact me. I'm happy to help.
As to the computer programs, Lol, I had PSP 7 forever and a day. I bought a new lap top this fall though, and got a fair deal on PSP 10 along with it. I don't know what 8 felt like, but X has a similair feel to Photoshop these days. It took me a while to readjust... but I would not be a happy camper with out those ever wonderful Bezier Curves. I tend to bounce back and forth between Photoshop and PSP, as there are certain functions of each that I just like better than the other. I'm sure you know how that goes.
_________________________________________________________
And now... just some images of my RPG character Dai. All but the avi head were hand penned and scanned in variety. CG'd in PSP 10 and Photoshop CS2.

And, just a Picture...
sailorleo - December 1, 2006 05:50 AM (GMT)
i like the middle one!!!!!! :)
mj - December 1, 2006 06:52 AM (GMT)
D.L. I love it! I was wearing convers sneakers b the way but I'm totally loving the read and black trainners! lol! You rock thanks! Thanks soooo much. I'm MJ Collins now by the way... not Nox anymore... new family.lol
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!
D. L. Button - December 1, 2006 07:00 AM (GMT)
Oh, Sorry MJ!
*Runs off to fix that*
There now, that should look better! Is the Head Avi more what you wanted now, BTW?
Ah, Tennies, Trainors, sneakers... that's the English v.s. US English barrier at work there, isn't it. Took me the longest time to figure out that 'bangs' were 'fringe' in Brittish English. And now, I tend to use that term more often!
mj - December 1, 2006 07:15 AM (GMT)
Lol, I'm not British at all but I had a friend who came from over there and she's got me saying all the british phrases. lol. I just pick it up and can't help it. sneakers...all star convers, right? And trainors are what my piccy are wearing. Still confised? 'Cause if you are I'm not going to be much more help!lol
Thanks so much for everything you've done!
D. L. Button - December 1, 2006 08:14 AM (GMT)
I got it B) S'all right, the use of terms from friends, like my 'fringe' example. Keeps folks on thier toes!
-----------------------------------------
And, this one is for Shonkie!
I had alot of fun with yours by and by, the whole personality description of appearing the fool paired with those lovely messy pig tails... What can I say, you just looked like the sort who would balance ones wand on ones nose in the middle of class...
Shonk Da 'Onk - December 1, 2006 08:21 AM (GMT)
 OMG That is brilliant!! Made me laugh out loud when I first saw it!! Thanks a million. Thats another Shonkie for my collection.
D. L. Button - December 2, 2006 07:23 AM (GMT)
Lol, I'm so glad it's up to standard for the Shonkie Collection! And believe me, I laughed a few times myself while drawing it up... the wild pig tails and the open and laughing mouth...
Anyway, pleased to see you liked it enough to use it as an Avi too
mariera - December 4, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
Can you make me an avi, please?
D. L. Button - December 4, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
Hey there Mariera,
I'd be happy to make you an avi. I know from your bio the character has red hair, green eyes, Is there any particular way she would usually wear her hair though? My first inclination would be a bun, with the intelligent and enjoying learning. What would you like though?
mariera - December 4, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
A bun would be great. Thanks!
D. L. Button - December 4, 2006 11:33 PM (GMT)
Sounds Good. I apologize if I don't get that out for you right away, I'm caught in the middle of a couple of big major school projects for finals at the mo' but I will get to this, promise ;)
----------------------------------
All right, a few days late and still sorely negelcting my homework. Oh well.
This is for you, Mariera! Unfortunately you'll have to choose between glasses and no glasses, as I personally couldn't come up with that answer myself
Tell me if you need anything changed, yeah?
mariera - December 6, 2006 11:36 PM (GMT)
D. L. Button - December 7, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
Your very welcome, of course! I note it seems a bit... squished as an avi. I dunno if it'll effect it or not, but there are speifications in the Avi area of your contols on size? It seems I didn't have perfect square on for this when I cut it, and as a result the Marie Avi is actually 100px high by 78px wide. Sorry  Maybe typing in the 78 in the specs will help the squished nature?
------------------------------------------
Yes, moving on. I was brave/stupid enough to upload a banner for the Leaky Cauldron Two year anniversary gig. I'll throw it here too, as it is still my artwork :P
sailorleo - December 7, 2006 12:26 AM (GMT)
i like it, it's spiff tastic
D. L. Button - December 14, 2006 04:34 AM (GMT)
Ah, and I gave myself a siggy for the Holidays. Though, I may have to change the settings on my transparetn gif depending on how the LC Christmas theme looks.
Anyway, Happy Hols from Dai Button and her brand new pet rat, Nezumi!
Edit: Changed it to a white transparnecy for The Holiday theme LC. :wizard:
Shonk Da 'Onk - December 14, 2006 08:42 AM (GMT)
Nezumi . . . interesting name. Does it mean anything? I love names; they are so interesting. :)
Anywayz . . . Nezumi looks a little odd though the picture is small so i'll let it slide. ;) I have 4 pets rats in real life. I love them to bits . . . I love their ears. I have a thing for animal ears. Don't ask me why I'm just weird.
D. L. Button - December 14, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
Lol, I've no doubt the rat looks wonky, and I'm pleased it's a small image if only to cover him up! It would especially look wierd to you, Shonkie, as you have them and study them. I have no rats, and I am a horible person, as I did not go find a picture to study from. So, poor nezume is something of a blob with a bow around it's neck and beedy little black eyes :<<
Anyway, yes Nezume, means "Rat/ Mouse" in Japanese. And as Dai has some Japanese heritage, I decdied t head out on a lack of origionality and name the little guy what he was.
Shonk Da 'Onk - December 14, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
 Don't worry I did the same thing. I named my owl Strix which means owl in Ancient Roman. :D
D. L. Button - December 16, 2006 07:24 AM (GMT)
This is hardly worth the effort of posting, except for all of the time I spent recoloring this sims outfit and drawing her up a bandanna! Oi. Anyway, stole a page from Leo's book while we have this light backgorund, and used a Sim in my avitar.
