Title: Hagird's Short Stay at Azkaban
Professor Rogue - February 19, 2005 12:34 AM (GMT)
A part of the book that deeply surprised me; Hagrid, the fun-loving and gentle giant, sent to Azkaban prison. What do you think was circulating through his head while he stayed there for that short period of time? Of course we know that it'd be terrible, as it would for anybody, but what moments do you think Hagrid was forced to re-live over and over? And the feeling he felt when he learned that he'd be leaving?

I think one of the things he'd live over and over was when his mother died and when he was expelled from Hogwarts. These are two of the worst things (that we know of so far) that have happened in his life.
When he found out he was leaving Azkaban I think he would have felt relieved, because he knew he was inncoent, and estatic to be leaving Azkaban.

Perhaps Hagrid would have to revisit all the rejection he's recieved in life. Being half giant can't make life easy...we know there are plenty of ppl who question his job at Hogwarts, especially his teaching position. That can't be easy for him. So thats my best guess. :)

I thought that it was kind of sudden... taking him there..
my opinion on it is, that JK wanted him out of this part of the story, to let Harry and Ron find the spiders etc etc, and the best way and affective to the audience was to have a short stay at Azkaban.....
But then you would think that he would come back at least a little different after being there, everyone who has gone has come back... different......even Siruis was alittle on the weird side sometimes...

When he was there he must have thought of the day his father died, the day he was expelled and at last the day he had to let go of norbert the dragon over and over again. :(

Yeah that would be the worst memories...and maybe theres more that we just havn't heard of yet...i dunno. And he would have probably be thinking that he let dumbledore down in some way..you know because Dumbledore was the one who gave him a chance to remain at hogwarts as a gamekeeper.

personally i dont think any of you have thought of the right thing that hagrid would live over and over. what has the one thing that hagrid has lived and strived for???? protecting harry of course!!!! so if he had been sent away, wouldnt his worst fear/memory/whatever be that he had let harry, DD, and the school down?
mwiley - June 25, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Yeah, i bet that would have been exactly what he was thinking. Espiecally for letting harry and Dumbledore down.

i think that he was thinking about was being expelled that harry and co might be in trouble and when his mom died or when buck beak being killed....
mwiley - August 10, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
he didn't know his mom was dead until the fifth book, did he? Wasn't it his dad that died? Or am i just totally losing it?
Anyway, I never thought of those last two, and i think fishy is right. Those would be another couple of things he would have been thinking about, definatly.
Coldfire - August 21, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
Yeah it was his dad who raised him and stuff, and he's the one that died. He would have had many things running through his mind, first and foremost of them all would be that he let down Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
mwiley - September 13, 2005 02:13 AM (GMT)
a ha! I was right for once!! lol
Yeah he would have had a lot on his mind, and nothing to do but think about how he let everybody down.
afigirlafi - December 21, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
hmm haigird is like a mistery to me sort of like dumbu.i guess he is just tired of ppl he loves leaving him!! i have no clue what i'm saying?
mwiley - January 1, 2006 09:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah you could be true on that, i mean his mom left, then his dad died. He doesn't have any other family that we know of. He was pretty much alone until dumbledore let him stay at hogwarts.
afigirlafi - January 9, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
yeah that is soo true i guess it might have been tough in azkaban but would he tell harry all the bad stuff he went through? i thought that harry could have asked what happen and maybe hagrid would tell him
mwiley - January 18, 2006 02:44 AM (GMT)
I don't think so really...and I don't really know why, I just don't think hagrid would have told him. Besides, its not a whole lot compared to all that Harry's gone through.

I kind of wish that the books would go into a little bit more detail about Hagrid's stay in Azkaban. JKR doesn't really ever take us there except in people's memories and the Daily Prophet.
