This author has been out of print for decades so it is probable that not many here will be acquainted with him. His works are mostly in the form of essays, poetry and criticisms of the Bible, but he also wrote three novels, two schoolbased and the third university based.


His best work is probably Saint Winifred's or the World of School it's style is very sugary and exaggeratedly over sentimental but it is engaging in it's own way. As the author was homosexual there is a great deal of homoerotic feeling (though nothing explicit) and such female characters as exist have very peripheral roles.

His most famous work, Eric or Little by Little uses a lot of the same motifs as Saint Winifred's, but rather less effectively and it's mood shows greater inclination to severity and dogma.
