How to make a simple banner in Paint Shop Pro. Maybe the most important thing about making banners is the pictures you get. If the pictures are great, you're on your way to making a great banner. Run a google search for HP pictures, Ruper Grint, Daniel Radcliff etc. You will find TONS of pictures.
To start:Open Paint Shop Pro
A window pops up with the title "New Image." This is where you adjust the pixel size of the banner, banner characteristics, and Background color. It's best to keep your background color transparent if you're going to be using pictures on the banner (which you undoubtedly are). Leave the resolution alone, and unless you're 150% sure that you want your banner to be black and white, keep the Image type settings set to 16.7 Million Colors (24 Bit)
Click Ok once you've set your proper dimensions.

Remember the Signature Guidelines. But here set the sizes 445 (width) x 200 (height). Click Okay.
To begin making your banner: Choose a picture or two that you like and open them in Paint Shop Pro. Go to File, Open, and then search through your desktop in order to find the picture that you would like to use. For beginners, it is MUCH better to use a MAX of 2 pictures. More than that is harder when you're first starting out. For this picture we're going to use 3 Ruper Grint pictures:
Rupert 1///
Rupert 2///
Rupert 3Right click and save the 3 pictures to your computer, I suggest My Pictures. Open all 3 pictures.
In order to resize pictures in PSP, make sure that you have the picture you want selected. Then go to Image, resize, and adjust from there. You don't need to re-size anything at this time.
Okay, moving pictures can be difficult but there is an easier way. Select the
Rupert 3. Go up to Edit and click Cut. The picture will disappear. Immediatly click the Uno Arrow and the picture will reappear again.

Next, select your blank 445x200 document and double click it so that it maximizes. Go up to Edit and click the Paste and selcet
Paste As New Layer.. Ruper 3 pic should paste in the center. Using the moving tool, position the picture so that it looks like
this.Minimize the banner document and select Rupert 2. Repeat these steps of cutting the picture and pasting it in the blank banner document. Use your moving tool to move the picture to the far left.
Now choose the eraser tool. That's the one that looks like a pencil wiht an eraser on it. Select the excess white to erase from Ruper 2, close by his hair.

Move slowly so that you don't erase part of Rupert's hair, but get as close to the edges as you can without doing this. After that is done, hit the Move Tool and select Rupert 1 picture. Repeate the steps of cutting, and pasting it in the banner document. Move the picture to the far right. See where we are going with this? Don't worry if the picture is over the center Rupert 3 picture. Use your eraser to erase the excess white then use your move tool to arrange Rupert 1 over a little.

After you've erased and arranged the pictures where you wnat them, merge all layers. This is done by going to Layers, merge, merge visible. DO NOT HIT MERGE ALL.
Now let's add text and a border
Go to image, Add borders, and select how many pixels wide you want the border to be. let's go with 2 on all sides for this. Make sure you have all your layers merged. Click the box for symmetric. Also, make sure your top part of the color to your right is set to the color you want in BOTH boxes the border color you want :)

To add text click the A on the left side bar. That allows you to work from there. A new box pops up that allows you to adjust font, etc. After you add the text of your choice (I'm going with Rupert Grint) move it around with the mover tool.
The File, save as, and you're done! Make sure when you save you change the format of the file to a .jpg or a .gif. png's are my personal favorite. Your banner should look like this:

That's as good as I can do folks! Feel free to ask any questions. :wizard:
