Title: Kasumi Question Thread
Description: Post all Kasumi-related questions here

XCTU - June 15, 2004 05:40 AM (GMT)
This is where you post all gameplay related questions about Kasumi. Myself or one of the many skilled players here will do our best to answer those questions to the best of our abilities. It will be assumed you're talking about DOA3 Kasumi unless you specify otherwise, thanks.

hey...um... i have alot of trouble with kasumis cherry blossom hold u know where she teleports the first one wihch is a middle punch is the one i have most trouble with is there any tip to make these holds easier? please help! this is her coolest move and i really want to start using it

XCTU - June 18, 2004 03:58 AM (GMT)
Are you talking about the one where if the opponent does a High or Mid, she teleports behind them? input is 49F (back, up/forward Free)? If it is, i can go into detail about it and ways to use it...if i'm wrong, let me know which move you're talking about (tell me how to do it).

kasumiluv92 - June 21, 2004 01:27 AM (GMT)
yesss thats the move!! i can never use it in an actual battel for some reason im just really bad with it helppppp!!

XCTU - June 21, 2004 06:01 PM (GMT)
Well, its similar to a counter, but you cant use it while stunned (someone confirm this plz). If your opponent is attacking, you do this, you'll teleport behind them and you're free to do whatever you want against most moves. The Beauty of 49F is that both high and mid moves make Kasumi teleport behind them, unlike a counter when you have to guess whether your opponent is gonna do a high or a mid. You have to be fast with it after you teleport behind your opponent. Personally, my favorite option is F+K after the teleport. It gives a nice stun while they're back turned, jumps over lows in cause they do a canned string, and has quite the range. Doing the teleport then throwing the opponent for a free backthrow is pretty good, but its more limited due to range issues.

The only bad part is that its similar to a counter in the fact that if you get thrown during it, it counts as a high counter throw, so lots of life gone if your opponent decides to throw instead of attacking.

Don't feel too bad if you can't use it very well, because its terrible against the computer. They don't fall for it at all like normal people do, so that might be a problem. =P

Did you know that Kasumi has a move that isnīt shown in her list? ;)
Let Kasumi have behind her back a wall, now press <--- (the arrow which shows to the wall) and then press X (punch).
A nice attack for dangerous situations.
The same thing can do Hayabusa.
I wonder why they donīt mention it in their lists...

bye,

Maybe they wanted fans to discover it or something, i don't know...

Its not that good either. Blocking it gives free throw for the opponent, but at least you can get yourself out of the corner that way.

blueboy - August 8, 2004 09:01 AM (GMT)
Honestly, it shouldn't be used at all. If your facing a wall, it's best to try and quickly turn to face your opponent, usually your opponent is too busy waiting for you to make the first move anyways.

As for her teleporting ability....this is extremely usefulll for players who like to out-jab you in everything.....(hayate is a GREAT example).

And although kasumi  can be a combo-feind in the right hands....if you plan on using her "blossom counter" alot....rely on one-hitters, and not combo's...at least not too much anyways.
Intermediate players will try their best to counter every hit.

I've been trying to work an 11 hit combo or more for Kasumi and can't seem to get it can anyone hepl me?

Pappioll - November 5, 2004 08:20 AM (GMT)
tina doeas also got an attack that she can do if she is near the wall. press :left: ( to the wall) and the yellow(punch) button and the red(kick) she will do a cool attack, she will run on the wall and then do a bodyslam just like in real wrestling ;)

You should proof online... :eyebrow:
Wanna see it...

JWBB - November 5, 2004 03:33 PM (GMT)
I do an sparring exercise using Kasumi at least 4 times a day, 7 days a week.

~A.Y.A.N.E~ - November 5, 2004 07:41 PM (GMT)
Its easy.
You must training in sparring mode.
Every day.

XCTU - November 5, 2004 08:28 PM (GMT)
i only did the excersizes to unlock the voices.

Trying to memorize all the moves at once is a bad idea. play a lot and get a feel of what each string can do one at a time. Kasumi has a ton of low/mid mixups in her strings...thats a lot to memorize...

DarkFox101 - November 6, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
This is true. But its only under 100 moves. In DOA3 it was over 100 moves. In DOAU thanks to TeamNinja's AssMistake of jacking half of their moves, it should be more easier to master the moves.

XCTU - November 6, 2004 05:28 AM (GMT)
whatever works for you, but if you have to go through the exercise 4 times a day everyday then it MIGHT be time to try a different option.

DestinyLives - December 18, 2004 06:33 PM (GMT)
Okay, you might have seen me on as The Transporter in XBOX live....

If you have, then you know how aggressive I am with Kasumi lol...

However, I have alway's had a problem.....And that is throw's...

I can't seem to find a "Safe" Move that could get me out of that situation.

Usually, when someone beats me(EIN!!!) That's what happens....

Any tips on some disrupting moves aginst throws?

Dan - December 18, 2004 06:40 PM (GMT)
right when the throw is exicuted press A as fast as u can to get out of any throw.

XCTU - December 18, 2004 07:22 PM (GMT)
well, from my viewpoint, its impossible to break throws on reaction. 5 frames is 1/12 of a second, probably something like a 5 frame break window...so 1/6 of a second roughly to see the throw and press P+F to break out of it...NOT gonna happen.

As for throws, in DOA, attacks beat out throws (Except Jann Lee's stupid footsie throw, but lets not get into that), so if you're countering a lot, its smart for the opponent to throw a lot simply due to the high damage. So a way to prevent this is to
A) don't counter when you're stunned
B) low counter when you're stunned
C) attack while you're stunned (i'll elaborate)

now none of these are "sure fire guaranteed to work" because everything is a mixup, if you choose A in a given situation, the opponent will whiff a throw, yes, but any other move they do will hit you. If you choose B, you'll go under a throw or a high, and counter any low attack they do, but if they do a mid punch or mid kick, it'll do way more damage. C is kind of tricky because its kind of teaching you to do something you really don't think you want to be doing. When you're stunned, sometimes the opponents will wait until you're done being stunned and try to throw you when you recover. To avoid this, sit there and mash PP or whatever attack you want to do, and right when you recover from your stun, you'll hit him and he can't throw you. of course, this means that if he does a launcher or anything, it'll be sure to hit...

So yeah, there's no real way to stop all throws, but if you can read your opponent and guess correctly a few times, then you'll do way better against throws. Hope that helped. (oh yeah, this strat applies to all characters, not just Kasumi)

Talim JP - December 20, 2004 11:40 PM (GMT)
A throw will break a throw (don't know if that's the A button or not as I don't use the controller (I use sticks)- looks in trash can- ya still there).

People are breaking throws in SCII (and you have to choose A or B) so if a person is fast enough they should be able to break some of them in DOA.

XCTU - December 21, 2004 08:33 AM (GMT)
no way dude, throws are i16 in SC2. They're i5 in DOA. Yeah, if you both throw at the same time with normal throws and one beats out the other but gets broken, no surprise, but you sure as heck cant do it on reaction. I've tried many times. = /

And he just said A button because thats the default setting for throw on a pad i guess.

Talim JP - December 21, 2004 03:12 PM (GMT)
So the throws are faster in DOA. Got it (I knew you'd set me straight).

And we had an appox. 8 year old kid kicking our butts (A's and B's) on Live today. It was funny but pathetic. We finally got him but he was good!

XCTU - December 21, 2004 10:53 PM (GMT)
Thats right, show those little kids who's boss!!!
