Title: BT47's DOA3 Review

BT47 - May 8, 2004 03:59 AM (GMT)
- This is my personal review of DOA3. In general it's a pretty good game, but heavily lacked addtion extras than that of DOA2 HC XD...

----

- Gameplay: Very fluid and realistic than many other games. The motion capturing and movement was spectacular, not lagging, no movement glitches, no jagged edges were in sight. The movements of when they got hit or knocked down was pretty fluid as well. Although executing the movelists was extreamly easy, it made it too 'Button-Masher' friendly and the fact that it was somewhat slow-paced than other fighting games made it somewhat of a draw back. The fighting-engine itself wasn't deep. And the fact that there wasn't any darastic changes of styles/movements of the characters between DOA2 and DOA3, which made it even a bigger draw back =/ The gameplay modes were too basic and lacked any special modes (for replay value)

- Graphics: Like any other DOA game, this was the first of the series that's graphics were 'WOAH!', beautiful, flawless, perfect. Palm trees, water reflections, glass, stones breaking only added to that. Details (such as the designs on Kasumi's blue-ninja outfit) was flawless, and the smooth/fleshlike tones were perfect ;) It complements the good gameply ;)

- Music/Sound: The voices were perfect, they really fit each and every character well - although lacked major emotion/pain/etc (such as Silent Hill 3 or Final Fantasy X-2), it was done pretty good nonetheless. The music was pretty good, somewhat mellow compared to the more catchy toons of DOA2, but good enough ;)

- Replay Value: Moderate. The replay value was low, lacked many of the basic extra/fun modes that make fighting games worth playing (such as Soul Edge's Edge Master Mode, VF4's Kumite Mode, etc) While fun and easy to play (for parties 'n such), it's pretty good I'd say. DOA2 HC had a longer replay time IMO. It's mostly for show, but still good nonetheless.

---

- Overall: 8/10
- DOA3 was pretty good, easy to play and beautiful graphics. Although it lacked replay-value and isn't as deep as many other 3D fighting games, it's still worth buying/playing ;)

thats a good review, however a little more on the drawback side of DOA is the story mode or most would put it, the arcade mode. The stories of each characters are losely illustrated and presented, which in the end leaves most players wondering what the story of each character is about. Most of the character background we know at the moment is stated only in the websites, but not in the game itself.

Pretty good. I'm not sure, but I think OXM gave DOA3 a higher score :hmm:
