Bomb threat at Plano bank causes lockdown of five schools

Five schools, including Plano High School, were locked down Thursday afternoon after a bomb threat at a bank in Plano, officials said.

A district spokeswoman said around 4 p.m. that students were being allowed to board buses home, and parents of students who usually walk to school were being asked to pick up their children.

About 2,200 students attend the five District 88 schools that were put on lockdown, the spokeswoman said. The other schools affected were: Plano Middle School, Emily G. Johns Intermediate School, Centennial Elementary School and P.H. Miller Elementary School.

Plano City Clerk Deanna Brown said the bomb threat was called into Castle Bank on U.S. Highway 34, but she did not know what time.

Authorities shut down the schools, which are several miles from the bank, because they did not want traffic associated with school dismissal to pass the bank, located on one of the city's main thoroughfares, Brown said.

Yeah it was not as scary people would think, so far nothing has happened to the bank, i live less than a mile from there but i didnt walk there, i was in spanish and right when teh announcements here to go on we were on lockdown.....

It was ok, bearely anyone was freaked out, turned out it was not a bomb.........funny thing was it was the last day before spring break.

that stuff always happens. its always high school BS. but im glad it wasn't a real bomb

it's always there, you just never hear about it...my school has been on lockdown before and just like Dan said people at his school werent freakin out and scared, neither were we...i guess we've just gotten so used to bomb threats and crap at school that we all have become a little desensitized to certain situations until theyre ready to blow up right in our faces.
