Title: Team Speak

l33t_ninja_thug - September 29, 2007 07:47 AM (GMT)
There is a new program out tested by me and Engraver called Team Speak. Its a great voice chat program that lets multiple users go in a channel and audio chat. Its a great program and me and Engraver want to make a DOA:K server.

PROS
  • ITS FREE!!!!
  • Casual conversation with multiple people
  • 2 voice send methods: button push or auto voice pick-up
  • You don't need a mic, but the program is very audio based. You can still type, and we will tell people how.
  • Easy to use
  • Doesn't use alot of memory and storage space
  • VERY FUN! [but don't screw it up]
CONS
  • If the Server Admin, most likely me, has to disconnect their modem completely, the IP number will change. But if this happens, we will post the new number in an official Team Speak thread and you can change the numbers accordingly.
To download click here:, get the first one:
http://www.goteamspeak.com/index.php?page=downloads

Instructions:
In the large white box you will see where it says Servers, Right click on Servers, then click Add Server. Once that is done, name the Server "DOA:K". Once you've named it, click any where in the white box to set the server in place. Now click on the DOA:K Server, on the right side will be Several Boxes to fill in. The labels should already be there. The Next Box you need to Fill in is the Server IP [I will post it later] that is the Server IP you will need in order to open the server up. Next enter your Forum Name as a Nickname (so we know who the hell you are, lol). Below that change the settings to Anonymous. Then Click Connect. An admin will add you later.

This is meant to be casual. We already have the first rule in mind: Cooler heads prevail. If any disputes arise, me and Engraver will handle it. We can kick you out [we don't want that] or make a special argument room just for all parties should the need come. And we can ban IPs if we get troublemakers *don't make us ban people*.

This is for fun; don't be afraid to speak. We wont judge how you speak or sound. As long as we can understand you, there should be no problems. We want to generate enough user intrest so we can kick off a DOA:K server. And we want some feedback, so feel free to post. This is to bounce ideas off each other.

i wouldn't mind....yet i'm still without cable @ home. hav no idea either with my current financial burdens.
question tho....what would i use to chat with? i mean yea a headset of course....but one thah's got a usb end or something?

Truth be told i have seen a USB mic and headset before, but its not worth the purchase because of the price. All u really need is a mic and headset that has two cable(one for sound and one for mic) connections which is usually attached to the back of your sound card. it dosen't have to be of superior quality. If u can find a cheap set for $13 or less, thats good enough because we don't need to hear a CRYSTAL CLEAR voice so long as we can hear and understand what u are saying. ;)

ah ok. i'll see what i can steal...i mean "buy".

theoretically, i love this idea and would be willing to participate.

realistically, i probably won't be able to do so (at least, not regularly).

;_;

Thanks for the feedback jane, but pls all(or most of u) of u, it would be nice if at least u can give us some feed back. Good, bad, whether its a good idea or not just tell us. We need enough so we can make a decision ASAP.

hmm...im not shure i understand what part DOA:K and its Mods/Admins need to play in this...if someone wants ot participate in it, then go ahead

Personally, if theres anyone i want to Voice Chat with, i do it over Xbox Live

Ive seen in another Forum an IM feature built into the forums front page, this is something i would be interested in adding to this forum if possible, along with a few other features.
