i've received some info regarding microsoft's x360's from a friend who's an EB games employee. aparently, the company will release a "limited edition black" x360 somewhere beginning in april. these are only limited to 100,000 units and will come with 120GB harddrives as opposed to our current 20GB ones.

these limited edition units are said to have different firmware and software components that make up the initial console, giving it a better performance overall. any past or present "bugs" that are still present should be fixed with these newer upgrades (hopefully *fingers crossed*).

once the initial units are sold, microsoft plans to replace their current "premium edition" x360's with these newer "upgraded" versions, only these will be available in their current "white" versions. core units won't be replaced, so there'll still be plenty to go around.

it's rumored that these babies'll cost you $475.99 (tax included) due to the increase in GB space, and at the moment there's no indication on how much "difference" would be paid on a "trade-in" of our current systems.

once i've the info on the trade-in costs, i'll place it here for all to know.

You have to be kidding me. I should have waited a bit longer. Stupid microsoft. Wonder if they will do anything to fix the 360s we have already bought?

i think this is their way of "fixing" the issues at hand.

it's been confirmed that we'll be opted to purchase a "linkcable" which will move any downloaded content from our old hardrives to the newer 120GB's.

this "cable" however won't be bundled with the soon to be new "premium set", so we're stuck shelling out more cash just for a simple data transfer connector. no set pricepoint has been made as of yet.

i'll update or feel free to update this thread with any new info as it becomes available.

if you allready have a 360 the only thing you miss out on is HDMI, thats it..the 120GB hardrive will be available seperately also

the new bundle is called Elite and comes with everything premium plus a 120 GB HD and HDMI input/cables

Price is said to be 479$

and what's the pricepoint for the 120GB hardrives?

i have no idea..im guessing from 150 to 200 or so

i heard $200 as of current. so far i don't see myself paying for this attachment as i've really a lack of content to transfer from GBD to GBD anyways.

i'm possibly considering this package not for HDMI (seriously, i don't need my eyes bleeding from unnecessary visual flare) but for a so-called problem-free console. i buy them for their longterm, not shortterm usage. i don't have time to invest in consistantly burning money on a console who's lifespan only lasts a year or less.

as for my current x360, i'm not too concerned about it. i never paid full price for the core package.....so possible investment for the "elite" (wow, what a name.....) won't be a huge waste from me.

time will tell for certain....so i'm keeping an eye on this.

Wow, what an answer to our problems! Pay 400 one month, and another 475 a month later! Yay, I love putting out boat loads of money for ONE STINKING SYSTEM!

Perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky they're even selling this LE console here,
and not just in Japan or Europe.

I say we....really I don't plan on getting one. I bought the first Xbox, I'm not interested
in another. Certainly not at $300 to almost $500 a pop.

yup, it's the reality of marketing victor. thing is, people will buy these versions regardless. opting for just the harddrive..... a nice addition to current x360 owners....only they've got your pockets too! there's no escaping this.....we're going to buy something from this deal.....thus we're still screwed! :yes:

this is really up to the consumer on what he/she will opt for at this point. like i've stated, it's nothing more than a way to squeeze more money out of us. some folks here just need to understand this.

i only wish for these consoles to live up to their performance specs. "lifespans" is my biggest problem from microsoft.

you've a point there pixel, yet microsoft's market "shares" there aren't as high as expected still. i really believe these newer models will fare just as much as current x360's have thus far.....a bit above the norm (if even this far).

the Black color is limited edition too, after a while the Elite consoles will be white too so get em' while you can!! lol :rofl:

silly developers, "white" is for......neat freaks! white's so freakin hard to maintain and keep clean.....obviously they think we're "automated drones" intent on preserving everything.

black is sexy.....despite it being an x360, so i'm all for it.

oh yeah, forgot to mention this. these babies'll be ready on april 29 (supposed release date), so if you plan on buying one......mark this date.

elite is a new sku, its not limited and will always be black, hdmi ready and 120 gb,

Stores like best buy are offering a trade in-which I would do but cant since i dont have 100 dollors for the trade in.

What i want for them to do is make the wireless headset-vision camrea and HD-DVD player black.

sorrie dan, but the "black elite's" are only 100,000 units....that's it. the soon to be premium replacements'll be in white, just like the current bunch. it's not confirmed via xbox.com, but any other form of media has this stated as so.

black is basically the "collectors edition" of the newer x360's. once these are gone, then you're just s.o.l.....lol.

who all featured an interview with Albert Penello who is behind the elite, he says its not a limited editions and it will be a new sku.
Black controllers, play and charge kit and battery will be sold in black along with white.
