Title: Oblivion for 360
Description: Possible(or legal) to modify

I have oblivion for 360, and I see all these mods and such for PC, is there any way to use these on 360? Doubtful, I know, but is it possible?

bsu - March 13, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
No. That's why everyone says PC's Oblivion > X360's.

But you can still have fun with the dupe trick, if you haven't downloaded the patch. It's wonderful.

I didn't think so lol. Too bad the pc one takes sooooo much requirments. Dupe trick? You mean duplicate? I don't care about cheating, I wanted to use the Samurai mod lol.

bsu - March 14, 2007 11:14 AM (GMT)
You can cross your fingers and hope Betheseda releases an official Samurai-themed add-on for the X360. But of course, you'd have to pay points for it.

Well, the Shivering Isles expansion is supposed to have weapon and Armor creation. Maybe that will let us create some. Doubtful lol. I want a Kimono and Hakama, dangit!

Mods so ruin games. I mean, sure you may want to "enhance" your playing experience, but unless the mod is released from Bethseda itself, it seems like, well, a superficial amplification that doesn't do much justice to the original concept of the game.
I beat the game on PC (main quest and like trillions of side quests) without any mods, and I was fine.
:D
That's my two cents. Sorry. I know it's not pertinent to the topic.

YOU ARE SO WRONG, LUMINOUS, DEAR.

I think you may have a bad perception of mods? You do realize that mods exponentially heighten the lifespan of the games themselves, right? The Quake series, Half Life, Unreal Tournament, all of these have their fanbase to thank for their massive success. Mods have become so important to PC gaming that people actually sponsor the creators of them to do paid work. DICE(Battlefield series) hired the team that made...this mod that slips my mind to create an actual packaged game for them. Epic had a contest for modders where the winner of it would obtain $1 Million from them plus the rights to the Unreal 2 engine.

Even beyond that, it's like having multiple games completely for free a lot of the time. I don't know how good the mod community is for Oblivion, but people have spawned their own games from different games/engines that people can download for free.

Most of today's talent is in the amateur part of the gaming community. I hate to see them get spat on is all. :D

I don't know. I mean, I wouldn't really sort of negate the playing experience that the developers created for you by downloading mods. Okay, maybe to restate: Enjoy the game the way the developers created it, then download mods if you're unsatisfied?
THANKS FOR THE ARGUMENT MILLS.

Haha, I can agree with that. I think you're right 100%, actually, in that area. People should finish the game the way it's meant to be played first and foremost. And then play around with crap that tweaks the gameplay a bit.

UNLESS, of course, we're talking about total conversion mods. Those are, like, completely different gameplay experiences of their own.

...damn, I should get you into some REAL PC gaming. :D

You probably never tried mods

Luminous_Daybreak - March 15, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah, you two are right.
I've tried like one mod. And hated it. SOOOO. Damn, you caught me. How unfortunate.

I would love to get the texture mods for oblivion and Morrowind. From some screenshots, it looks awesome.

As for the idea of mods, I agree on the idea of trying it the way it was originally meant to be played(except in the case of something like these texture mods that simply improve detail) first, THEN modding. Oblivion and Morrowind are amazing games without the mods lol.

I wonder if Morrowind will even play on this old laptop. This thing only has 256 ram. I need a job and credit. I want one of these 2056 ram laptops that can play anything lol.

bsu - March 15, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
I had the texture mod for Morrowind (it gave all of Oblivion's textures to it) and it didn't look great. (old models with new textures looked wierd) Plus, you need even more PC power to run it well.

Mills McDougle - March 15, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
There's actually this website floating around talking about how this game could be played on like a Voodoo or GeForce 2 card. :o I can't remember where it's at, though.

Victorthebattousai - March 15, 2007 01:43 AM (GMT)
Didn't think about the need for more power. Eh, I probably won't use the texture upgrades and such on morrowind if I use this comp, I will have to set the graphics to almost non existent anyway lol. I already played a good bit of Morrowind for Xbox, so I figure I will dl the mods for samurai and areas and such.

Mills McDougle - March 15, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)
If you have the money to spare for it, I'd consider upgrading a bit. It really degrades from the experience if your PC can't candle the game so much to the point where you have to turn everything off.

Victorthebattousai - March 15, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
I know lol. But, what was it someone told me, when I first lost my internet.....Eh, some quote from Scarface lol. I need a job, to get the money, to get the computer.
