Hmmmm, looks...not very good...
What battle is it? I'm in a history university but I don't see of what evenement the movie talk about. I understood something about Spartans but Spartans are almost ALWAYS in war XD

Dan - December 26, 2006 07:52 PM (GMT)
This is the Persian war, Millions of Persons against a 300 Spartans. While I forgot what sparked this war, this battle(Battle of Thermopylae) 300 against millions but the Spartans almost prevailed.

The movie is based off the comic book by Frank Miller which is why the look and feel of the movie is comical.

"300 is a graphic novel, written and illustrated by Frank Miller with painted colors by Lynn Varley. It depicts the Battle of Thermopylae and the events leading up to it from the perspective of Leonidas I, king of Sparta. The comic, however, takes great liberties in its narrative, for example depicting Xerxes I of Persia as a bald black man with piercings and the traitor Ephialtes of Trachis as a hunchback. The comic was particularly inspired by the 1962 film, The 300 Spartans, a movie that Miller watched as a young boy."

The movie and the book is based off the real life events.

No offense Dan, but I'm thinking this is going to be another "Troy" or "Alexander." If it turns out to be a "Gladiator," I'll apologize.
But I mean, there's never anything wrong with seeing buff greased men battle it out.

i'll be intrigued if miller offers any form new elements to this "genre". i'm not a fan of "war inspired" movies, so it'll take quite a bit for me to enjoy.

Have you ever watched Sin City?
Just by that I truly know it will not be a troy or an alexander

He is the comic writer that closely worked with tarantino and rodriguez to make sure the movie was fantastic.

I took a look at the director, who hasn't many credentials, but I don't know Dan, I'll check it out.
Plus, true fans are never disappointed.

I saw the preview for it. It looked real pretty. Not as good as DOA4's graphix though... So I bet it will be a box office flop.

i haven't read 300 but given that it's Frank Miller...he has a pretty good track record.
