Aaaaand he`s based on the dutch: Sinterklaas (Saint er claws) He`s our santa, only we celebrate his birthday and he`s the one giving presents to the children. The socks are replaced by shoes and we celebrate his birthday at december 5th :P Well If your nice I`ll look out for a picture :)

on a serious note, it's interesting how society adapts these "beliefs" to have meaning/a form of. we all know that "santa" is fictious, but his "image" itself serves a bit of purpose to everyone both young and old.
i wonder if we'd all be into this "gift giving" relations if there had not been an image such as "santa clause": a symbol of the holiday spirit.
also, the idea of a "santa" keeps most kids from misbehaving.....which should be for all tyme, but i guess one month of good will is better than none at all.

He doesn`t, but he`s based on that guy on the pic :P (and let`s face it, Sinterklaas already excists for like, hundreds of years :P Santa is a faaaakeee!!!)
