It's pretty sweet. I miss being in shape. The only thing is I forgot teh best way to tackle this whole thing since it's been so long. haha Well, besides stretching, warm up, cool down, stretch, that type of trash.

I'm only on the weights, though(besides doing Pump It Up haha)....so what else can I do to stay in shape besides lift and run?

Oh, and while you're at it, what are some of you guys' routines of staying in shape?

Jump rope! You have no idea how much that helps the calves.

And plank for abs. It's a bi*ch to start out with, but it helps.

Mills McDougle - October 29, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
I'm kinda a n00b to this whole thing, and I don't know much outside of standard weightlifting and conditioning. :pinch:

What are planks? I may know, but I've never heard whatever it is referred to as such.

da fudge is a plank?!?

my Safety & Health book has some exersizes. they list them cause people who light in factories might hurt their back lifting when they lift for a long time (after months or years) hell, like 80% of injuries are back related in a factory

Try it for thirty seconds first, and see if you can build on it. It's a great great exercise. Works your back too!

WTF, do I just stay in that position? Haha, that's something to do whilst I wait for my turn on DoA4! heheh Nerds in shape, THE MASSES BETTER RUN!

Stretching is not trash. You can kick higher, and further, and better your ability to low crush.

You want to lose the extra baggage, right? Cardio is the way to go. I really don't recommend doing just weight lifting, but that's what you're trying not to do (I think) so do cardio for the entire week and alternate with heavy lifting the next.

I don't know any of the technical stuff, but people saying 'cardio does not build muscle' sounds like bull crap because it did for me.

Drink 8-10 cups of water a day in addition to a protein shake, lift, and do random exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, and jump rope as suggested by L_D.

Mills McDougle - November 2, 2006 08:26 AM (GMT)
How effective/mandatory are protein shakes? I'm not really in a hurry to get into that whole trend, but is it counter intuitive the workout to not drink them? Or does it take more time to get like Ahnold without taking them?

Can you still run around to play like a pickup football game with your friends, cuz thats my main form of exercise, and I love it
Oh and I also do push-ups, they work really well if you wanna work on your entire upper body
