Title: video games = violence?
l33t_ninja_thug - August 13, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)
Some time ago, on G4's
Attack of the Show, they had a segment that will rock the nation. In the segment,
The Loop (A daily forum featuring different opinions on the latest news, usually with three guests appearing via satellite.), they had the age old question:
Do violent videogames cause real world violence?http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/blog/A...am_Sessler.htmllink to a video of the segment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJucvwVJeHQYouTube link to the segment. in case you have buffer problems and stuff
what do you, the gamers, say to this?
<.< the stupid poll thing is on one answer. can a mod change it to 2 answers please? -_-; god...

lol i got to go with MARK that middle guy lol, u know, sure its violent on games but comon kids shouldnt be even able to get a gun, and u know what? GUESS WHERE BULLY CAME FROM, schools, i mean there is alrdy bullies in schools, and just watching cartoons, theres ALWAYS a bully, and about violence, tis like these kids must alrdy have problems, and its the parents job to know what their kidds are playing.
and u know what this is what my dad thinks also, i personally i do think "Bully" is a stupid idea for a game but still, and its not like these games give any trainning.... i may be the best at halo but my aim will be the most pathetic thing in the world,
as for the poll question, i do think it does, but u kno TV could be the same problem, but if we remove EVERYTHING that is violence, we will be stuck on Nick Jr. with blues clues.... its something we should be able to control, i can watch the most violent thing and still think "im not going to shoot anyone" i mean common, they musta had some reason to shoot some people, its not like any videogame just made something in their mind click and told him, go kill 3 people and ull get 30 bucks....
MORE than likely anyone affected by videogame violence is probably mentally unstable or weak,
i might of forgot some other things but i wanna hear others on this topic

Whoa, I'm so rolling my eyes right now. it hurts.
Videogame violence is such an overrated topic.
Unnecessary violence is primary caused by slightly confused minds. If those get their 'inspiration' by videogames, movies (-don't overlook how hardly any movie goes without at least one or two corpses, often with deep insight given into the killers motives and methods - pretty... inspirational, I'd say-), books, their parents, or at their uncle's slaughter house pretty much does not matter at all.
Like, right now we in Austria have some wicked human being, who goes around, slashing female (, fully conscious) horses' genitals for fun - or their sexual stimulation - whatever.
I wouldn't say, that any influence can "make" someone like that. They are just insane to begin with.
I claim, that some evolutionary malfunction in humanity causes this, which lets more and more of us be born HOPELESSLY DUMB in every generation. until self-eradication!

its like the chicken and the egg, cept its more obivious which one came first...
BULLY was the one probably inspired by Real Life bullies....
ALL WWII games, guess what, inspired by well world war 2
i mean common sry to sound like im better then people but this is weak minded stuff, im not mad about this topic, mostly cuz i feel for those who lost their lives and their families, but whats really to blame....
i mean look at those "its never too early to talk to your kids" or the "stand in contact with your kids" guesswhat it really does help, i kno i kno, there are some parents that try their best and thats life, death happens, but u kno its like, COMON i have NO idea how i would get a gun, i mean comon, no videogame will start someone to become crazy, i mean comon, all these kid killers probably has had a bad life, or is mentally unstable....

Blaming violence on video games is...like...blaming the condensation in your bathroom for the rain outside. It's senseless...and its become a hot topic once again >.>
For someone to claim that playing a game trains a kid for doing something stupid is...stupid. That kid has to already be messed up in the head for him to do that, video game or not. My parents raised me to recognize the difference between reality and the jumble of pixels on the screen and I know right from wrong. I'm a gamer, always have been -- so is my dad. I can recall watching him play Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior when I was too small to play them myself and guess what -- I couldn't shoot ANYBODY if I wanted to.
Politicians are turning tradgedies like Columbine into votes at the polls and they should be ashamed of themselves. So, because a mentally challenged or naturally agressive person happens to like Halo and he/she shoots someone, we should blame Halo? It takes true guts to pull that trigger and end a life for real and no video game can supply a gamer with that.

Fixed the poll.
I voted no.
Secert[Lite - August 14, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
the only reason i vote yes is because, it does probably affect that small % of mentally weak kids, but in general i would say no

I vote "no" ^-^ Videogames doesn't create violence, I think. But maybe if an unstable mentally play them can become crazy; but this could happens watching a movie or the TV too. So, videogames are made just for those who can control themselves, I suppose.

i just dunno how Jack can say that some kid trained on DOOM on how to use a gun. its pretty obvious that one side shoots bullets and the other you hold to keep from shooting yourself.
>.> OMG, i know how to use a gun now!! lets go on a rampage at my school!!! effen jack thompson
yes i was being sarcastic
Secert[Lite - August 17, 2006 07:12 PM (GMT)
exactly, and im not sure, but im sure its true... its not that easy to kill someone... there would have to be more then just videogames

Guns dont kill people, bullets do. or, better yet. Guns don't kill people, husbands that come home early kill people. - Larry, The Cable Guy
