its not a mecha. i just compared its kick4ssedness to robotech, since robotech is one of the best known anime ever. it was a comparison. you can find info about it, with spoilers so watch out, at the wiki about it

yeah FMP isnt realy a standard mecha, id recomend it. you need it to watch FMP Fomouffo, which has no mecha and is one of the funniest things i have ever seen
and ELfen Lied is win, whoever mentioned that one. im to lazy to go back a page and check heh

Yeah! ^^ The three parts of the anime are great and very funny (except The Second Raid, wich is more serious and is more mecha type). Is one of the best animes I've ever seen! ^-^

So hard to choose! Ugh. I guess, sticking strictly to anime and not manga, it's Ergo Proxy. It's pretty new, but amazing! The animation is gorgeous and it has a promising plot.
