http://www.transformersmovie.com/I honestly don't know what to make of this, I really want to see it, but I know whether it'll be really great, or one of the worst movies ever. It's hard to tell from the info that's out now.
On the one hand I will say that with the people working with it, this includes the actors and the director, not to mention it's Dream Works, it has huge potential. The poster and trailer make it look like it won't be some kid's movie that's trying to get them to buy the latest set of toys frm Hasbro, it looks cold, harsh and metallic. If it's good and simple, bring on the sequels, there is so much material that they can use that'll make each sequel better than it predicessor. They can have the city size characters later, then Unicron, the Transformer that is actually a small planet.
However, even with the best people, and a huge budget, it could still be a monster letdown. First off, I see that Marvel has nothing to do with this movie, and the original Transformers cartoons and comics were from Marvel, and those are the ones that myself, and others of my age grew up with and know to be the true Transformers. So, I hope that they draw from those episodes and comics for not only the basis of their story, but the look of the Transformers as well. As I mentioned before, it looks like they're trying to get it to appeal to the 20 somethings who grew up watching the old cartoons every weekday morning before heading off to school. Are they going to have the decepticon power struggle between Megatron and Starscream? Is Cybertron in it? From the look of the trailer, they live on Mars, but hopefully, they're just there for whatever reason.
Another problem is, I honestly don't know how good the visual effects will be, with the latest movies, visual effects have come a very long way within the last five years, so it's hard to say if this movie is even physically ready to be made.
Also, they could bugger it up in the sense that they try to have too much in the first movie by introducing too many characters, or characters that can't show up too early, like Tripticon, Unicron or even the Dinobots, and having a 90min. time frame, this movie should be at least 2 hours, with a basic story and introduce the main characters the way X-men did.
I'm more interested in seeing this movie than Spiderman 3 because I know that Spiderman 3 will be great, it follows the comics relatively close, but I have no idea what to expect from this movie.
I'll let those of you who care have a look at the site, there's only the teaser trailer.
